7th Heaven / Game starts but unable to do anything

When I click on launch game I get the following error message:

Postprocessing initialization failed, check APP.LOG for more information

I can only press OK. When I press OK, the game loads and I am able to start a new game. It goes through the opening and I get to the train scene without any sound. When it gets to the point where I can finally control Cloud, I am unable to move him with a game controller or with the keyboard. Sometimes after a while the game will close without an error message and go back to the desktop but this does not happen all the time.

7th Heaven / Problems downloading certain mods

Greetings,
I hope this topic hasn't already been discussed and I did check the message boards first but I could've overlooked it if it has. I am having issues with downloading certain mods in the 7th heaven tool. It seems that most of the mods that have two parts will download the first part of the mod but there are issues with downloading the patch. Most times the first part will download then it will say installing next to it but nothing more ever happens. Also if I cancel the one that says patch, then it will disappear.  The ones I am having problems with are:

Battle Models-Enemies
Menu-Avatars and Backdrops
Spell Textures

I am also having an issue with Jessie's Mod but it seems to be something else. It keeps trying to download the mod but keeps on generating error messages.
