Releases / Re: [FF8-PC Steam 2013] FFVIII Crystal 1.0.3
« on: 2020-04-15 00:49:06 »
Just beat Ifrit after 3 tries, so used to not needing to think in this game that I wasn't really prepared. Messed up not exchanging magic but managed to bruteforce it with draw-casting Cure. The AI changes were exciting.

Even this early on I'm really liking what I'm seeing, the changes are pretty much exactly what I was after with this game. The NT mod is interesting too but I haven't seen much progress on that one recently :(.

Thanks for making it!

Do you have a radeon. I got it with catylyst 13.6 drivers. I think 13.4 is bad too. 13.5 worked.

Yeah I am, will give it a go. Thanks  :).

It worked, thanks! Amazing how two drives released a month of so a part can still affect a 15 year old game!

Getting this with Aali's driver installed. Fresh install of the game, replaced the files with 1.02, re-downloaded the driver and copied it to the folder and selected the driver in ff7config.exe. Haven't changed anything in the .cfg file yet. Running on Windows 7 64bit if that matters.

Type 'Regedit' into the search bar (If in Windows 7 and Vista (?)) and click on HKEY Local Machine > Software > Wow6432Node (Not sure if this is different in 32bit) > the folder where FF7 is installed. Then change 'Datadrive' to the letter that your memory stick has.

Try UMI: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=12522.0

Use the default preset and see if that gets what you're looking for. I can't be sure but give it a try, it's a good mod to have anyway!

7
I know you can't use any mods that rely on Aali's driver but what about the .lgp mods like some of the battle backgrounds?

8
They may have needed to pay for the rights to the music when using OST.  I dunno.  It could also be that whoever was in charge just wasn't as logical as me.

Yeah, I was thinking that. Maybe because Uematsu isn't part of Square Enix anymore may have something to do with it.

So it was you who came up with the fix I take it? Awesome job :).

9
I find them not including the higher quality music in this release an incredibly ****ish move. The fact it's so seemingly easy to replace the music files (A lot more so than the original version) just baffles my mind as to why they didn't.

Solved Problems / Re: Final Fantasy 7 Can't read disc
« on: 2011-05-19 20:53:17 »
Thanks for all the help. I had to re-install the game. I backup my saved game. Now everything is back to normal. Thanks

Don't mention it. Just glad you got it all working again  :).

You'll have to do the same for your movie path.

1) New string value called "MoviePath".
2) Double click on it and put in the path to where your FFVII movies are. For example mine is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\data\Movies\".

If you have any more problems it would proably be better to just re-install the game.

Anyway, glad I could help  :).

You seem to be missing the "Datadrive" in your registry. Try this, I don't know if it'll work but it's worth a shot.

1) Right click -> New -> String Value.
2) Call it DataDrive
3) Double click on DataDrive and change the Value data to H:

Troubleshooting / Re: Final Fantasy 8 Disc read erorr
« on: 2011-05-18 18:23:34 »
Unfortunately that solution does not always work for some reason.

Ah right. Still, your method may cause problems for other games if they're looking for his current drive letter so when he changes it to accommodate FFVIII the other games will come up with no disc errors. Am I right in saying this or am I talking complete bo**ocks?

Troubleshooting / Re: Final Fantasy 8 Disc read erorr

1) Go to the start menu.
2) Type in "Regedit" in the search bar and press enter.
3) In regedit go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VIII"
4) Where it says "Datadrive" double click on it and change the value data to your DVD drive.

Hope this helps. Any questions just ask.

Moothead, can you confirm if this solution worked for you?

It did indeed.

OK follow these steps.

1. Open RegEdit (to do this type RegEdit in the Run Box or the Search box depending on your version of windows)
2. Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII
By pressing the + button next to each box.
3. Click on the "Final Fantasy VII" folder In RegEdit on the left side.
4. Where it says DataDrive on the Right represents where the game is looking for the CD, make sure that is the Drive that your CD is in (so if your CD is in your D Drive make sure it says "D:\")

If you still don't understand take a screenshot of how far you have gotten and post it here.

Thanks a lot  :).

« on: 2011-05-15 16:13:39 »
I'm having problems running FF7. It was working perfectly a few weeks ago when I last ran it but now it keeps giving me the no cd error. I haven't installed anything that I think would have affected it and i've tried using both an ISO and the actual retail disc. I've also tried using both the FF7Music shortcut and the original shortcut and neither work.

General Discussion / Re: I was bored
« on: 2011-04-12 15:10:25 »
@sl1982, nothing about what nightmarish said was constructive, he stated that for a completely different context, only one was even remotely usable, but for it to be usable, he stated that 2 things had to be changed, and might I add, He completely missed several points as well for it to be an original content mod?

he said only the sword and trouser colours were off; however, the model has chest plate armour; however, the original model only has a metal strip, the model has on gloves instead of armlets, and the model ALSO has sleeves, which I fail to see on the original model.

As for me 'bashing' TA, I didn't bash it, individually each area can look good, but put together, its eye rape from the sheer differences in style for each area.

As for me, I don't want my eyes to be raped, so I'll avert them from any of your precious mod's 'progress'.

And since it seems clear enough that nobody desires these or have any requests, I won't give any links or participate further in this thread.

It's the internet, calm down. Some people need to stop taking the internet so seriously and go outside.

*sigh*

I didn't bash no one. I said that, unfortunatly, in a gaphic update point of view, only one model seems usable.

I see no bash there but yet i might be blind or mentaly retarded.
Anyway, /care. Continue with the thread.

/*sigh*

Think he might of been talking to the OP  ;).

Where am I supposed to find that lost png file?
Sorry if this post in the wrong place..

d:\Final Fantasy VII\/mods/avalanche/cr/name8_b_00.png

It's because of the "Final Fantasy VII\/mods/" bit. It should be "Final Fantasy VII/mods/"\
