Title: FF VII PC - Extend control to second joypad in battles?
Post by: Salk on 2017-02-13 05:42:14
Hello!

I was wondering if there is a modification that allows two players (only during battles) local co-op or if there is anyone who might be interested in creating it.

This was very possible for FF V and FF VI games and it was lots of fun.

That is very very likely never going to happen. The game engine does not have any code for a second joypad (so it would need writing in) and what you ask would require a lot of work regardless.

Easy mode (no modding required!):
Hypothetically both players can control all characters in battle AND on the world map, but frankly this is close enough for any practical purposes. It has the added benefit that either of you can go take a dump while the other keeps playing for both of you.

Thanks for the suggestion, Covarr.

I guess that's the closest it can ever be. :)

Yeah that way will work. It's as good as you're going to get.  Forcing each joypad to a different character is off the cards.
