Unreal Engine 5 explained by developers
« on: 2020-05-14 15:49:09 »
We are living in a great era for game developers and artists. You no longer need to be part of a huge greedy studio to develop your ideas and Art in videogames. You just need a handful of talented people, or you can even just do it yourself if you are a control freak. Still always remember to have all the legal stuff in order because you never know what will happen to your team.

Unreal Engine 5, is free to use, but you have to pay them 5% if your game succeeds.

I'm very excited for this.

(FF7R is made in Unreal Engine 4)

I'm excited for that polygon feature- no normal maps, bilions of poly and no performance loss. Finally I would be able to create game based on photogrammetry without retopo

Indeed, is a huge advancement in the Art department, you basically don't have to worry about detail reducing framerate and ruining the gaming experience. It also removes the need of all those extra steps and software to be able to get them in the game. I'll be watching closely how this engine develops and if it delivers all that is promised.

They also offer advance guidance and classes for the engine features, but sadly not in my region, they do have online classes though.
