Titeguy ,When I go to play the minigame the condor, the screen is black but the minigame works.
That's weird...
Can you post a screenshot and your APP.log from right after this has happened?

Thanks, but I've solved it, was an incompatibility because my game is the Spanish version. What I did was spend the minigame without any mod.

I think I figured out what caused FF7 to run improperly.

It usualy happens after I try to run the config file and make changes to it.

I never noticed the Config file that didn't have the chocobo icon. Unless it conveniantly decided to work again after I ran the other config file.

ah, well yeah, whenever you run ff7config.exe, it uninstalls the registry entries for ff7.exe. If you need to edit ff7config, do it via the start menu shortcuts or run ff7opengl.reg afterward. The latest version of Aali's driver comes with an edited FF7Config.exe to solve this issue.

Then It seems that the great mystery of Xelane's stupidity has been solved.

I do have a question though.

I see that there is a Batch file right next to the regular file that the game runs on named "FF7 remix hard core"

If I click on that will the game become like the hard core mod?

And if so, does it replace my kernel folder?

Answering this question requires a bit of an explanation that I'd really much rather quote myself on....hang on a minute...
EDIT: found it!
What's the deal with running the game from the .bat files?
ficedula's ff7music isn't a mod, it's a standalone program that reads the debug data printed to the global console and plays music according to the MIDI START/MIDI STOP debug info. As such, it has to be run simultaneously with ff7.exe. The .bat files automatically start up ff7music simultaneously with ff7.exe and automatically close it when you close ff7.exe.

There are also two filesets for ff7--the hardcore mode files and the normal mode files. When you run the hardcore mode .bat, the game renames the hardcore mode files to the nomenclature that ff7.exe looks for, etc...

Also, the .bat files run the game in compatibility mode if necessary.

Also, (although this will be obsolete in the next version), ff7config uninstalls Aali's driver's registry entries every time you run it, so a .bat file is needed to automatically reinstall the registry entries after you close ff7config.

Also, I used a .bat file to force ff7opengl.cfg to open with notepad.
Although really, you shouldn't have to worry about any of this and just use the shortcuts in your start menu folder. Although I'm aware that windows for whatever which reason finds the need to start doing away with the classic start menu.

Good info.

I am loving the game much more now that the music is more epic than before.

I just tested to see if i could substitute the music (the midi files) with others so that I could hypothetically have a regular boss battle run the music "J-E-N-O-V-A" in its place.

It worked  ;D

So after backing up all of the files, I picked out some of my personal favorite choices for different versions of the same music.

Like the two different versions of "one-winged angel", there was one I liked, and one I didn't.

So I swapped the names to make the one I liked play during the safer sephiroth battle.

And in case it somehow messes up the game, I (as always) have my entire FF7 game backed up in case of a crash.  ;D

I can't tell but does this mod have higher quality NPCs and battle models for everyone or just Cloud? If not, is there I way I can add NPC recon project or is there something better? I just don't want to have an awesome looking Cloud running around and have everyone else look like a walking box... Thanks for the help.

It creates better 3d models for most of the models in the field, and gives barret and cloud better looking battle models.

Thank you :) So are the rest of the NPCs still dumb looking? Can I tack on the Recon patch or no? Also does the Jenova save editor problem happen EVERY time at Kalm or only when you do certain things? Sorry, I'm such a n00b lol

It already has all the models from the NPC reconstruction project and more. As for the Jenova Save editor problem, I'm not sure, I've just had a million and one people complain about this.

I sort of skipped over the kalm part.

What happens?

is it that glitch where sephi's weapon isn't equipped?

Because that happens to me regaurdless of what patch I use, but it never bothers me because I always did use Jenova.

Wow I messed it all up yet again.

I tried running YAMP to get the 9999 patch and lo and behold I start the game to have the opening FMV 4 times as big and the texture completely unreadable.

there's just a bunch of blue blocks which is otherwise a black screen instead of the opening menu.

In the APP log it says it can't load any of the tex files

Actually...it's saying it can't load or read ALOT of files. I may just do a fresh install.

 :'(

EDIT: Let me post what I think is the App log:

I just installed your patch and extracted all the files and then a text doc popped up. What am I supposed to do? Make all the lines in OpenGL look like the ones in the text box?

Sorry for the double post... Didn't know how to modify my old post.

I opened the registry editor to try and find opengl or whatever I have to edit to get FF7 to work but I cannot find any folder that has it. I looked for Squaresoft, Final Fantasy 7, Eidos, and none of them are anywhere to be found in the regeditor. I clicked on the opengl registry in the actual program folder and it says "The values have been successfully added to the registry" but I can't find them anywhere. I'm assuming I have to edit a file to go along with the readme, but I can't find whatever I'm supposed to do next. I've been trying for two days now to get the stupid game up and running and I'm really getting frustrated now :(

I tried playing the game again after a reinstall and all I got was a black screen and then back to my desktop. There has to be someone here who got this to work on  a computer with Windows 7. Can someone please explain what I'm supposed to do like I'm a total moron? Step by step as detailed as possible? I've searched all the topics and all over the internet for a simple way to make my FF7 work (at all) and it may as well all be in German.

Hi, I dont wanna download your whole mod you think you can upload just your PRP mod?
I need

Phoenix Rejuvenation Project field models (+flickering materia fix +transparent faces fix) The PRP mod out there doesnt have the fix. And I dont know how to fix it myself either you can upload it or give me instructions how to fix it. I'm familiar with lgp tools.

btw you should make so ppl can choose what to install with the installer.

@Xelane, you should put the code tags to good use. It looks like it's not finding the files in menu_us.lgp. Make sure "direct" mode is turned off in the openGL config file and that menu_us.lgp is in the right place.

I just installed your patch and extracted all the files and then a text doc popped up. What am I supposed to do? Make all the lines in OpenGL look like the ones in the text box?
I thought it was kind of self-explanatory. That file contains all the options for the OpenGL configuration. So type in your settings, resolution, etc... If you still don't get it, watch this tutorial.

No. It would be disrespectful of me to change up their mod slightly then redistribute it. I'm going to leave it up to the creators of the PRP to release a new version whenever they have the time. Moreover, if you want to have custom mods set up differently from how they are in the patch, learn to install them yourself. This patch is for people who don't want to have to go through the hassle. I may upgrade to a Nullsoft installer that allows for options at some point in the future, but until then, beggars can't be choosers.

If you want to fix the flickering materia, you're going to need to find the model for the materia skeleton in char.lgp (you can find out which files do what in the first sticky in Game Tweaking) open it up with "Kimera" then click the model, click remove from bone, then add the model to the bone again and save.

To fix the Transparent faces, open up every field character's head in Kimera, double click the model, then select it's face texture, then change the blending mode of the face under "Group Properties" to "None", then save.

Wow :) Its working! I'm so happy. Should the intro FMV (new game movie) be kinda choppy? The music is playing, but the video itself is like starting and stopping (like on slow play or something). Is that normal?

Since the translation isn't your own work I would appreciate you stop pretending that it is.  I have made a decent compromise to this and hopefully Qhimm will agree with it.

a.  That you release my mod with the compilation

b.  Stop claiming it is your mod and rather admit it is a variation of mine including a sh*t load of work we put in.

c.  That the readme reads the following:

This mod and massive majority of work was created by DLPB and his team of Japanese translators.  DLPB asserts that the translation should be as accurate as possible and that by altering, the mod becomes less correct and more flawed (Aside from changing British English to American).  We have altered it because [reason].  Full credit should be given to the original mod creators found here > oh, I don't think so, Seifer ;D .

------

That is all I ask and I think it is fair enough.  I should not have to even bring this up, so have a little respect for other peoples work.  I respect your installer and think it is a great idea.  I wouldn't be taking any part of it and pretending that it is mine, it is just decent courtesy.

He just took existing mods and piled them into an executable application.

I am not aware of him posting anywhere stating that all of the content is his own.

Alot of peoples mods are included in the installer including mine. Now as far as i know he credits everyone in the first post. Dont get me wrong though, most people new to qhimm see this and think he created all the works, but it is not his fault others are ignorant. So maybe people who download this should give titeguy3 thanks for adding everything into one nice easy package but also for the creators of the mods for making them in the first place.

Hi, Seifer! Bye Seifer! How's about you actually download this patch before you jump to wild conclusions.

My re-translations are nothing as literal or thorough as yours. the majority of them occur in noted confusing dialogues throughout the game (like a particularly confusing one of Hojo's monologues for instance) and are solely my own work. Others are corrections of obvious mistranslations or updates to current nomenclature in modern FF games (Heaven's Cloud --> Kusanagi, Bolt3 --> Thundaga)

Don't be so full of yourself. If there even IS any overlap between our re-translations (which I'd be surprised if there even is... take your ultimate supreme war god death slash and shove it up your ass, loser), it's purely coincidental. You deserve no credit for my work and I'll be damned if I'm gonna give it to you, you pompous asshole. You're just upset because I refused to join your stupid project.

That being said, I have an announcement, I've been working on multi-language compatibility patches to be run directly after installing the remix patch for German, French, and Spanish version users who have been having considerable amounts of trouble getting the mods to work. They're highly experimental (I obviously can't test them) so use them at your own risk, but do be sure to leave feedback if you find that they're not working properly. I'll post links to the first page as soon as the modify button is working properly. Until then here they are:
