i dont have  the save file anymore, but the battle is on the scene when you first enter mount nibel. Easiest way to get there is to run through the town and enter the mountain. The battle further in use a different scene.

off topic, but speaking of squeenix... did anyone else hear they have the rights to the newest incarnation of the deus ex franchise

*cries*

previews look awesome....but so did the previews for deus ex 2 and 90% of the game turned out to be a snooze fest

Road Rash Online  :-o You can already shoot people around the world and cast lightning bolts and fireballs at them...why not make a game where we can race them whilst beating them with a chain or poking them with a cattle prod?

EDIT - Seriously though, a modern Road Rash would probably be awesome.  Give bikes the customizability of Gran Turismo or Need for Speed, add dozens of weapons instead of just a few, and with 3D maps/tracks I think it would be sweet.  I know they made that one RR game for PSX way back, but I'm thinking more Road Rash 2

i agree, that would be a totally sick game. The franchise died on a low note, which was the PSX game. Horrid controls and sounds were just a few of the problems, and the game felt like an outlaw sim rather than the "professional" racing w/weapons that the sega genesis games were. I would be all for a game such as this though.

Also, anyone remember destruction derby 1 and 2 on the PSX? They were such a blast to play, especially the bowl levels where you just beat the hell out of each other. I don't think DD has been done as good since.

a lot of times, they appear in the same order as well. The shinra mansion is one place to easily spot this, as well as the ancient temple.

hmmmm...maybe im thinking of quake II?? i recall a number of Ni tracks were created for one of the quake games, but scrapped after the fact. I downloaded them ages ago and they were a great addition.....
googling.....
nevermind, he did the initial design on doom III, but his worked was scrapped. They can still be downloaded as an add on pack though.

for anyone who never heard the quake II sound track, give this a listen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvRYVSQS2_s

best soundtrack of any game i've ever played. Guitars are cruchy but not over repetative. If you like this one, i'd recommend getting the full album. Its great music to listen to if you can where headphones at work.

still where it was earlier. The ground textures look good but im not satisfied with the sky in the least. I can send em over if you want to complete it.

I started school again, so my time is full right now. I've gone back to the WMRP and demanded that i do one texture a week so i can at least slowly move towards 100% completion. Been averaging around 2 i would say, and there are only around 80 left to be done, most of which i can't even find on the world map.

here's my take....a twenty something guy who was obviously crazy, but just couldn't seem to get the wheels spinning on his life. Bad economy, overcrowded job market that pushes young folks in favor of experience....eh, i could at least see his motivation, but it certainly was not this woman fault.
Had he done the same thing on wall street, i think he would be hailed as a hero in some circles. At least then he would've picked the right targets.

I'd like to see a sequel to Quake 1. That game was probably the most original of ID's games (besides Heretic/Hexen - which were Raven)
The environments were so cool in that game, from high-tech bases to medieval castles, to weird otherworldly "runic" designs with a lot of metalwork. Add the ambient style of music, and the lovecraftian monsters - it really made an eerie experience. A sequel could be amazing.

I was disappointed how Quake 2 went back to all base/installation as its environment - it felt like a combo between Quake and Doom, but more like the latter - the Weapons were almost the same, and the enemies weren't even as good as Quake or Doom. Shame ID continued the Q2 part of the series instead of the original.

i totally agree with the quake I comments, i played the hell out of that game....beat it over and over and over. If you never bothered, Trent Reznor created a soundtrack for it, but it was sadly never implemented into the final game. I would check it out if you interested in his take on Quake.

As far as Quake II goes, i totally loved the singleplayer and multiplayer. Quake had MP mods, but quake II blew the whole genre of modding games wide open. Also, the soundtrack is my all time favorite, well actually the only game soundtrack I can remember without hearing it. You could play it straight off the CD, and i remember rolling in my first car jamming it loud as hell.....yeah....dork.

just a quick suggestion:

include the relevant modpath folders in the ZIP for the next release (world,battle,menu,ect..) just to make it easier to diagnose future problems with mods that need to be manually installed. I also think in set in stone modpath name would be a good idea, or at least a default value to make it more n00b friendly. We've seen more than a few issues pop up from mistyped or blank modpaths already.

keep up the good work!

an alternate method can also be used with the aging TA patch installer if you're having troubles.

Open the exe with WinZip or other similar program and manually take the PNGs out. You can then place them into your modpath folder and use them without modifying the original LGPs. Its up to you to figure out which folder they go into, but it's not too hard to figure it out. This works for both the text, menu, and world map. Spell effects probably work as well but i didn't sufficiently test to give you a sure answer.

of course don't do this until your playing on a fresh install again, otherwise all sorts of wackiness could ensue. Another plus to this method is it is very easy to deactivate certain parts of the graphical overhaul by simply renaming folders within modpath.

the new interface is absolutely stunning! epic work my friend, outside of PSN support,  im not sure what else can be done to make this any better. Maybe expansion into older FF titles perhaps....

just got to the ancient temple, characters are around level 40-ish. I made my way into the temple by running away from nearly everything until i got to the fat little wizard. After that i've been restoring/fighting/saving and leveling up quite nicely. IMHO, the difference in difficulty from rocket town area, to the temple is pretty staggering! I went from near domination of monsters to being one-shotted by normal mobs. Maybe tone it down just a hair, or make the transistion smoother if possible. Just suggestions, im having a blast anyways :D

I'm not one for remakes, but two games I think would benefit from a remake would be half-life and Duke Nukem 3D.

HL source may be vaporware for now, but duke3d has been redone...sorta...

the new engine looks stunning, though you need a decent rig to play it at max. If you d/l all the model and texture packs, it looks circa 2007 and it's still fun to play. I forgot how damned difficult it is though!

base wars for the original NES. I still like playing that game sometimes, and how many times have you been called out in baseball and you just wanted to go toe to toe with the baseman who tagged you.

there was a project a while back that was seeking to replace all of the FF7 sounds, sadly it perished. There is some good info to be found within the thread though, as well as the name of the editor you need, which is "Cosmo"

Troubleshooting / Re: Missing files? Where do I find them
« on: 2010-12-29 18:53:28 »
the REG file is obsolete, now the openGL driver is incorporated into the FF7config application. If your download contained the REG file, you are using an old version of it.

As far as the missing models....maybe something happened while installing the remix patcher.

Just wanted to check up with everyone and see what you've all been working on lately. Holidays have taken most of us away from our projects, but im curious to what you have been doing. It's been a while since we've released anything major, and was thinking of possibly getting a pack together sometime in Jan-Feb. I've started slowly completing the WMRP again, so if persistence pays off and I can continue finding time to work on it, it should be done sometime next year. It is seriously a longest project, and soooooo tedious :D

Troubleshooting / Re: FF7 Remix new FMV's not playing
« on: 2010-12-28 02:12:46 »
you have to alter your FF7 registry keys to point to the directory where the new movies are stored. I believe the string is called "MoviePath", or something along those lines.

i ran into that website a few months ago. Other than the links to illegal torrents for FF7, i don't really take too much issue with it since credit is given to the creators. It is interesting though, that an officially sanctioned website has not been setup for the many mods hosted on qhimm(excluding the wiki of course).

merry Christmas everyone!

on a related note, the Christmas spirit is alive and well. I just won a BFG GTX285 from a forum member's contest on tomshardware.com
just when i lose all hope in humanity, somebody persuades me to give it another chance ;-)

Have fun and be careful!

i used to love the original, though many of the alien classes were extremely difficult to play until you evolved a little higher. I always loved the marine objectives, since you had to clear a path to the hive and then destroy it. For the engine it was on, the original was pretty groundbreaking in terms of mixing RTS/FPS gameplay as well. I hope the developers get it right a second time, and don't pander to the console/gamepad crowd.

AFAIK, direct mode does not load .p files for custom models. It is strictly for the loading of custom textures, and has largely been superceded by the "mod" folder, though i suppose it does still have some uses. Custom models must be loaded into the original LGP files.
