Title: Help replacing the battle theme
Post by: Invader_X on 2016-11-02 10:29:47
Hi Team!

I am new (again) to modding.

I spent a few hours learning how to install 7th heaven it it works!!!!!!!!!

For the music I am currently using OST Remastered under the drop down box with many options.

Is there anyway I can change the standard battle music to this?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKGbZYRUv28

Also the OST remastered track stays true to the original sound track but just remastered? I want to experience Final Fantasy 7 for the first time enhanced but still staying true to the original.

Thanks all!

You need to download the mp4 from youtube and convert it to an ogg with audacity. You will need to go ahead and add the loopstart and looplength to it when you save it as bat.ogg from audacity so it will continuously loop. Then unpack the music iro in 7H. Find the bat.ogg you have selected and copy your new one into that location. repack the iro and it should now be your new track for battles. You could also set up a new folder in the 7H mod directory like this

-Mods
--7th Heaven
---new music folder
----music
-----vgmstream
------bat.ogg

Then just select your new music mod and set it at the top of the active mods list. It is actually a much easier process than it may seem at first. Good luck.

I tried the folder method:

-Mods
--7th Heaven
---new music folder
----music
-----vgmstream
------bat.ogg

But it did not work.. Any ideas what could have gone wrong?

Which IRO file is it and what software to use to unpack it?

Thanks for your help!

You use 7H to unpack it and the original IRO is Music and Sound

Okay I have managed to unpack the Music and Sound IRO but only 4 folder (Anxious Heart) sound tracks appeared.

The music I am using is the OST remastered. It has the remastered battle theme I want to replace and when I checked the anxious heart bat files it was the PS1 battle themes?

I've tried replacing the bat file in the Anxious Heart DLPB selection, repacked it and it won't play and when I enter a battle there is a red error message at the bottom of the screen saying something along the lines of "error, unable to open file bat" or something.

The bat file is a .ogg file and It was an Mp3 before and I converted it using Audacity - the only thing I changed before exporting it was the bitrate to 192000

The other soundtracks like the world map and fan fare works (but I didn't change these)

I changed it back to 44000 and it works now.

However the music does not loop in game, once the track ends it ends, how do I fix this?

in Audacity I selected loop play and it would loop over and over again.

You have to add in the loopstart and looplength  when you export the ogg in audacity. Here is a tutorial.

Should only need LOOPSTART if you end the music at the loop point.

Should only need LOOPSTART if you end the music at the loop point.

However that removes the user's ability to listen to the track in it's entirety for enjoyment or future modding without keeping multiple versions of the same track lying about or going back to youtube to play/download it again.

true ;)  Never considered that.  Then again, for game releases, you'd want the smallest file size?

Its working now! Thanks guys!

Now just the mystery of where the other sound tracks are when I unpack the Music and Audio IRO? There are only 4 Anxious Hearts music folders and no 'OST Remastered' Folder for that option in the Mo'd configuration
