On the topic of not using the same username/email/password combination, I've got a tip for those who don't want to use one of those fancy account manager programs/services: Yahoo mail.

Yea, I know. Yahoo? *GROAN* But hear me out. I don't use Yahoo as my personal or professional email. But I do use it anytime I need to sign up to a website. Why? Because Yahoo has built-in disposable email addresses. If you didn't know (and most people seem to be completely unaware) if you got to Settings -> More Settings (it's at the bottom of the Settings menu) you'll find a option for Mailboxes. In there, you'll find disposable email addresses. You can have up to 500 of them on a free Yahoo account. It's pretty insane. If for some ungodly reason you manage to come up with more than 500 different email addresses, just make a second Yahoo account and you've got 1000.

Couple this with Firefox and Chrome's abilities to randomly generate passwords and you're golden. Just remember to keep backups of your saved passwords file somewhere in case of profile corruptions which happen frequently with both Firefox and Chrome. Google can help you with finding the right files to backup.

Now you've got not only unique passwords, but also unique email addresses for all of your accounts. Now you can keep using the same username without fear of being cross hacked if one of your accounts is compromised and it makes it easy to sign up to fishy websites that you might not trust because you can always delete that email address and stop the spam pretty quickly. On that topic, it makes it super easy to see which websites are selling your info because you'll start getting spam emails on one of your addresses and you'll know exactly who you used that to sign up with.

Does being a d*ck work out for you normally or is that just something you do on the internet to feel like a tough guy? Problem was 100% unrelated to any of that. Sorry that I hurt your feelings by being right.

tl;dr: Using thinner or thinnest UI bars causes some dialog boxes to vanish. Setting it to "No Change" has no such bug.

But basically your issue with dialog boxes is because your using MO and ESUI at the same time.
Reread the mod list, people. Menu Overhaul is disabled. Also, speedhack is not the issue, please don't offer any advice on that. Keep your opinions and keep it on topic.

I've seen this happening when using Field Models on Kaldarasha setting (as you are doing). I don't know why, but that seems to be the cause (you can try deactivating Field Models and see if anything changes). That mod is still a work in progress and it is known for causing some problems. The authors know this and are already working in order to release a better version.

I never would have guessed. I would have bet on Enhanced Stock UI because it actually affects the dialog boxes. Bizarre. I'll try it. I still have a save from before that part. I'll see what happens.

I've searched for this and couldn't find this exact issue. Sorry if it was asked elsewhere.

Some dialog boxes just do not show up or in some cases will flash briefly and then disappear before being readable. During some of the dialog with Bugenhagen it would just popup for a half a second and disappear. Now I'm in the Temple of the Ancients and the small flashback scene where the rolling rock things are and Aerith looks in the pool and we see what happened to Tseng. None of those dialog boxes are showing up at all. I had to go to YouTube and find a video to get the dialog.

Is this a known issue with any mod? Here's the list of mods I'm using:

could you try my mod without the "magic" part ?
because magic is realy high quality, and if you use it in png version instead of dds (with ffnx) you can get game memory overflow > crash

Seems to have helped. I will have to play more to know for sure.

There is a rumour that the whole compilation is coming to switch translated with upscaling

Rumors are stupid. 98% of the time they are false. Look at the frenzy the Silent Hill community is in over false rumors. Please don't spread that stuff here, too.

It would be nice, but I can tell you why Crisis Core will never get remastered, remade, or rereleased in anyway and I can do it in one word: Gackt

That kills the entire rumor of a compilation release.

And no, the remake was never a rumor. Squaresoft teased it in 2015 themselves. It was not a rumor before that because everyone was 100% convinced it would never happen in our wildest dreams. Also, it was poorly planned to announce it so early and we did have to theorize about a lot of things and rumors about what exactly the remake would be were started, but the remake itself was not a rumor. We knew it was in the works. Blame Sony for pressuring Square to announce it so early and people then calling it vaporware when almost no more substantial news came out for the next three years which led some people to think the whole thing really was a rumor. But it wasn't.

tl;dr: None of the other compilation games are likely planned, in the works, or even being discussed seriously at Squaresoft right now. It would be nice, but it probably isn't ever happening.

Using these textures with 7H causes random crashes after battles and on screen transfers. It usually only takes 15 or 20 minutes to get a crash. Using Remako does not cause any crashes.

Followed the steps to the letter (starting from Step 6) and the game crashes immediately. I hear the first note or two of the SYW intro video and then boom. I've double, triple, and quadruple checked that I did everything laid out in the guide.

Yes, I have the stable release and not canary. Yes I have the 1998 and not the Steam download.

Open the 7H_GameDriver.cfg file in your ff7 folder and you can change the texture memory manually from 2048 to 4096 if you want and that may help, or it could even make things worse. FYI, if you use the UI and click save, it will overwrite the setting though. Some fixes are coming with 7H 2.1 within a few weeks also.

I changed it to 3072 manually. I didn't know if it would actually work since in the UI it showed 512. I played a while, but quit without a crash. The APP.LOG was full of the "texture cache is full" messages, though. I'll try 4096 now since you basically confirmed for me that it works. We'll see. Thank you.

EDIT: With it set to 4096 I got the texture cache error immediately in the log. Going back to 3072 and I went for 3 hours without a crash. Texture cache errors didn't show up until after two hours.. Looking forward to the updates. Hopefully it can fix this problem.

EDIT2: And tonight I get the same crash after 30 minutes with no cache errors. I guess they aren't related?

You shouldn't be having crashes when running without mods. Perhaps another issue with DEP. Add ff7.exe to Windows' DEP whitelist and give it another shot.

It ran a lot longer than usual with that, but did eventually crash. This time it was during a transition from one screen to another. No cutscene or anything special going on. Just changing rooms in the empty Shinra Mansion in the Nibelheim flashback.

I started just before running up the Shinra tower to fight the elevator boss and Rufus. The highway sequence and end fight all happened fine. In the APP.LOG file I then get this as soon as I exited Midgar to the world for the first time:

EDIT: I think it's important to mention that while these errors began as soon as I left Midgar and was in the open world for the first time, I experienced half a dozen crashes before ever leaving Midgar before I decided to come here and ask about it, so it has nothing specifically to do with the open world map. I don't have any other example of a non-battle related crash although it had happened several times within Midgar over the last couple of days.

As for the GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY, I've got 4GB of vram on my graphics card and I've got the maximum 2048 set in 7H.

Well, sorry to hear that, other than double checking your load order and settings, I don't know what could fix it.  Remako field and texture mods are compatible with my guide as well, just use the IRO versions.  Let me know if that solves it for you.

I have tried using the up-to-date versions of the mods you said to get from the old repository thinking the outdated mods might have stability issues with the newer mods. That didn't help. I have no other ideas.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I keep getting these black screen crashes on exiting battles. It happens randomly. It's not any specific battle. After a crash I can load back up and clear the same battle no problem. Or maybe it crashes again. Who knows.

EDIT: It isn't just battles. During the long Nibelheim flashback sequence I got this exact crash during one of the transitions near the end. That's a looong time to mash through all that dialog just to get back to where I was since there are no saves. This makes the game more or less unplayable unless it's in the non-modded version. And who wants to do that?

I've also tried with PostProcessing on/off and fullscreen on/off. Neither helps. EDIT2: I also tried with all GameDriver settings to default. Still getting crashes.

That's what happens when your computer is having a hard time loading screens.  If it transitions to the next screen before it loads the screen will go black.  I have not had that issue on my computer, and you are the first to report it here.  I would double check your game driver settings, make sure your texture memory is set to 2048, which is what I use.  If it already is set to that, maybe your video card can't handle that much texture memory, so try setting it to 1024.  You can also try lowering your video resolution, or basically any other performance solution you can think of to get your system to run a bit faster.  (Windows 10 pro gaming tip: To get the best video performance in Windows 10 with an Nvidia Card, right click on your desktop, select NVIDIA control panel, go to Adjust Image Settings Using Preview, choose the third option and move the slider to Quality.  Setting individual graphics settings on Nvidia cards used to be the best method, but with the new cards it's far more efficient and better looking in every game to let the card control those settings.)

My GTX 1050Ti is definitely not incapable of handling this. I highly doubt this is a performance issue.

Something in this setup causes random black screens before or after battles. When it happens after a battle there is a crash. When it happens at the beginning of a battle, the screen goes dark just before you get control and you can still pick attacks and spells, but nothing happens after you have given all 3 characters commands. Screen stays blank and nothing ever happens. You can only pause and unpause. Otherwise you've gotta quit.

It's a nice combo otherwise, but this problem is a dealbreaker. It happens so infrequently (once every few hours) that I'm not going to test by disabling a couple mods at a time to try it out. That would take all week. But frequently enough that it's just not going to work out for me. I guess I'll try Remako + Reunion 6.

The torrent won't start. It's stuck at "Stalled" with both tracker status showing "Not Working". I've managed to download R05c from the torrent, but of course I'd prefer the newest version.
