Removing torrent after installation

After installing the modpack and the game loading successfully, can I delete the torrent (17gig) so that I can recover some hard drive space or is it necessary to keep the files in the folders?

With you, if your hard drive can't hold that much and you just wanted to install the desired things from Bootleg then yes. With others they probably keep it just in case.
