well Dragonshadow have you made sure your actually using game disc 1 and not the installation CD (a few people have made this mistake in the past) and have you checked to make sure your ISO isnt corrupted in anyway. If you could post a screenshot of the "MY COMPUTER" list so we can see what its showing as and of the CD drive screen in "MY COMPUTER" and another screenshot of the files has in the ISO (when mounted) if possible (also you can blank out any personal information before uploading the pictures i am just asking for screenshots so i can try and help more.

Yeah, if you want to get the keyboard to work you have to use the number pad, which means holding the [fn] key and using the fakemeout numberpad on laptop keyboards.

titeguy i really need some professional help

whenever i press "X" in my keyboard it always minimizes and goes back to windows explorer why?
but when i close the windows explorer it didn't minimiize why?

and recently whenever i'm typing when i press the "X" button the windows explorer maximizes itself when it opens? WHY?!
but when i close "WE" (abbr. of windows explorer) and i press "X" (for example: when i type in the address bar "xplorer.com" )
i can't freakin type the "X" because it keeps on maximizing whenever  "WE" is open?!!!!

it all started whem i run ff7music.exe just like you did in your youtube video T_T

I seem to be having dificulty as well.  finally get it downloaded and installed.  Everything runs beautifully....except....NO SOUND!!  I tried getting it working but ingame under sound it says not supported.  I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x86 RTM.  My sound card is Hi Def on the motherboard. my video card is an Nvidia Geforce 9600 Overclocked.  And i have 2 gigs of Ram.   Any ideas?

*EDIT*  Fixed the problem.  Turns out I forgot to switch the Surround sound back to my computer when i was done with the ps2.  God i'm such an idiot

That. Is the most bizarre thing I've ever heard. It sounds like you've somehow set the "x" key to maximize windows explorer...which...makes no sense.
I'd strongly advise a system restore....and possibly some new RAM or a new mobo or something cause there has to be something physically wrong with your PC for it to have such odd errors.

well in vista i have had all .exe files randomly set themselves to open up in notepad by default (no internet at the time, so it wasn't a virus), and that was fun trying to fix  :x. i wouldn't be surprised if evan17lee has vista  :-(.

i still do not have all of my icons back on my .exe files... some returned and the rest will not take icons for some reason  :|.

Wierd. I've got vista 32 and the strangest thing that's ever happened to me is that I've randomly had some of my icons shuffle to random others after quitting a fullscreen application.... Hasn't happened recently, though... It was probably one application in particular that had memory leaks...

Any possibility this can be released without the remastered AI and new weapons/armor/spells? I like everything else but I wanna stay true to the original game.

Just make a copy of your kernel.bin, kernel2.bin, and scene.bin as backups, then put them back after installing the patch.

I have to say that after playing through a couple hours of this...ITS FREAKING AWESOME!  I love the new opening, as well as the movies not being all grainy.  So far it's been a blast to play.  though i must note that the music...while it will loop, there is a noticeable pause between loops.  Keep up the excellent work.

Here's a question - you mention having both the remasted FF7 OST and the remixed music from OCremix - which gets used where?

This video might answer your question.

In FF7Music config, there are four profiles, you get to pick and choose how you want your music.

Thanks, had one other question:

Above, you mention restoring the original kernel.bin, kernel2.bin, and scene.bin files post-install - what of the listed addons do these files effect? I'm trying to get the game to look as nice and pretty as possible while maintaining the original game's playstyle as much as possible.

Ok, one more - I swear it'll be the last one:

Are there any other addons you would recommend in addition to this version? (2.3.1) or is this pretty much perfect for this point in time.

battle\Scene.bin - Enemy AI
kernel\Kernel.bin - Materia/Spells/Weapons/Armor/Accessories/Player Character AI/Initial Data/some more stuff
kernel\Kernel2.bin - Names and descriptions of above stuff (in menu context)
Replacing those three will negate the effects of the AI/Weapon/Armor/spell mods

Although If you're going to restore those you should probably also restore field\flevel.lgp to get rid of the retranslations, and revert names of things on the field.

As for other recommended addons, there's some other stuff out there that you could probably add, but everything not included in this patch to date is either still in the works or non-discussable on the forums (models ripped from other games). Nobody here will help you get the latter.

I know, for example, that costa07 is working on new battle backgrounds, but it's still debatable as to whether or not those are an "improvement" yet, or just a mod.
There's also gjoerulv (or however you spell his name)'s "Hardcore" mod, but I doubt you'd want that. I also know that SL1982's 2d Overhaul had a couple of new hi res character menu avatars that he neglected to actually put in game... I'm not exactly sure how to put those in myself, they should already be there in the textures folder, just not installed. Lastly, I know a ton of people made Advent Children avatars, but I decided not to incorporate those as, well, the characters aren't all wearing the same outfits as in the game and, in the context of the game, it doesn't make much sense.

In the kernel alterations, are there any actual stat changes or is it all text corrections and clarifications? I think i'll be ok with those, actually.

Phew, amended above post to answer your second question. Kernel.bin is stat changes, Kernel2.bin is text changes. I'd recommend you go all or none on those files mentioned above, because they all compliment each other. (i.e. with Kernel.bin but not kernel2.bin, the "Wall" spell will do damage equal to the number of minutes on the game clock, and be located in "Time" materia, and with vice-versa, the "Wall" spell will randomly be called "Horology")

Also, without modifying Flevel.lgp, things won't match up like... on the menu, the "Heaven's Cloud" will be named normally, but on the field (when you find it) it'll be called the "Kusanagi".
