I'm having some problems with these mods.  I first installed both of the mods for the game and actually had no problems whatsoever.  Then i get to disc 2 around the icicle town save my game and turn off my computer.  I'm running home vista btw. I try to play the game again and the sound effects and music no longer work.  Didnt notice any other changes and couldnt figure out the problem.  I uninstalled the game and deleted the patches or at least most of it(not sure if i got all of it) and when i install the game without the patches i still get no sound effects or original music that had been working when i installed the game before the mods.  So basically i cant even play the game normally anymore cuz of the mods screwing something up. i know that the ff7opengl does something when u click on it after installation of the patches but i dont know where to uninstall it in the registry(if this has anything to do with it). Any help would be great.

what does "both" mods mean? There are no lingering files in your registry. When you uninstall ff7, you clear everything up. Moreover, if you reinstalled the game, and the problem still exists, then that might mean there's nothing wrong with your installation and that there's something wrong with your computer. Does the sound work on your computer at all? Is a sound device selected in ff7config? If you update your sound driver, ff7 doesn't realize and you have to manually go into FF7Config and reselect your sound device.

The fact that there's no music makes me suspicious, though, since (assuming you were using *this* patch) even if a sound device isn't selected in ff7config, ff7music should still play, unless you're not using the shortcuts like you're supposed to and running the .exe directly.

@erikpfeiffer15, your crashes have got me stumped, the only thing I can see is that might indicate a problem is:
Code: [Select]
ERROR: libpng error: Read Error
ERROR: COULD NOT LOAD TEXTURE DATA FILE clf_lg.TEX
ERROR: COULD NOT LOAD TEXTURE DATA FILE clf_lg.tim
and that seems to not coincide with the crashes. Try running in compatibility mode/running as administrator/turning UAC off/etc to avoid the crashes. Also, does anybody know why these files would be missing?

i guess i mean the 2.5.1 installer and the upgrader. the sound and music works with everything else on my computer.  Before modding it the game worked perfectly up until the second disc when the music and sound effects refused to work.  Also testing the sound effects and music in ff7config works fine but when i run the game it doesnt work anymore. I just have no idea what the problem could be lol.

Ok so after I install the patch I try to get disk 2 (play disk 1) to run and it says I don't have it in. Hell right now I have it mounted and it still doesn't work. The installation disk worked fine. I have no clue what im doing wrong. And yes this is the legit version.

Check your registry entries for ff7 to make sure that the "DataDrive" entry is pointing to the right drive letter. You'll find this entry in "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\"

Windowslogo+R, then type "regedit" and click OK to open the registry editor.

I don't know why you would have this issue though, unless you changed the drive you were using. FF7 doesn't scan all of the drives for a CD, it only checks the one you used to install the game. (and the remix installer double-checks it for you)

@SUPERSAIYAN, if you use the installer, you don't need the upgrader, that's just for upgrading to v2.5.1 if you already had v2.5. I don't think it would have messed anything up, but it's not necessary. At any rate, if you're not using the remix v2.5.1 patch anymore, I can't help you.

It's not a folder, it's a registry entry. If you don't know what the registry is, you probably shouldn't edit it. At any rate, reinstalling should fix the problem.

Ok now I have a new problem. Sorry :-[ I can get the game to start but now all I get is a gray/black screen and nothing happens. Also Not sure if this would help but when I get to the task manager to exit the screen everything gets blown up. Again sorry and thank you for helping me with the other questions.

Yeah...the game is crashing and your resolution is getting stuck at 640x480. you should be able to set it back easily enough. I'm not going to know why it's crashing without seeing some debug info. Try posting the APP.log file in code tags.

Those are defintely "quote" tags and not "code" tags but whatever. let's have a look see...

Hm, according to your APP.log the game is working normally, which leads me to believe that FF7 is crashing before it can generate a log file.

Okay bear with me, here. I'm gonna need you to do this:
1) Run FF7Music (it should be in your start menu as "FF7 Music Configuration")
2) Click the left button to "Run FF7"
3) When/if it crashes, copy all the text that should be displayed in the FF7Music Window
4) Post that here using the code tags. They work the same way as the quote tags, the only difference is that it makes a scrollbar. just type "code" instead of "quote"

Well i think i used both the installer and upgrader because the installer had a crc failure of the battle.lgp and so i patched the upgrader cuz it had a good one.  Regardless with these patches the music and sound effects do not work.  If i go to the folder and open the game using the hff7 application the music plays in the intro cgi but in game the music doesnt work.  The sound effects however do work in game. The shortcut on the start menu or desktop or the other ones yield no music and sound effects(the ff7 music app does open).

UAC = User Account Control. It's a "feature" in windows vista that breaks everything. If you have vista, you can turn it off by going to "User Options" in the control panel.

I see "Error: Unhandled Exception"...

It happened during the battle? did you get the "oops, an error has occured" message?

Thanks for the mod pack makes setting the game up take so much less time. One question though when i start it with the run .bat file the cmd has a message saying duplicate file name exists or file cannot be found several times but then it starts and everything seems to be working fine. Did I mess something up or can I ignore that?

Well if the game starts up just fine then I guess you can ignore it but...that's odd.

That's because you have mixed versions of normal and hardcore mode files.

Edit the .bat and look for the files described there. You should only have "h_xxxx.yyy" + "xxxx.yyy" if you're running in normal mode or "n_xxxx.yyy" + "xxxx.yyy" if you're running hardcore mode.

Example: running normal mode, in /data/battle you should have "h_battle.lgp", "h_scene.bin", "battle.lgp", "scene.bin".

If you have, for example, "h_battle.lgp" + "battle.lgp" + "n_battle.lgp" you mixed up different versions of the files.

Gotcha, thanks.  Hm I'm running XP so that shouldn't be an issue.
And yeah, I always get the 'Oops, error..." message
And I have full admin control, blah, blah...

in that case, what *might* fix your problem would be to download Hojo Enemy Editor, open \data\battle\scene.bin with it, then click File...Update Kernel File.

Ok. Now I have it some what working but now the sound comes in and out and the video lag's. My video card is ati radeon x1650, is it to old or weak to run it? I also have 2 gig ram(at least thats what I paid the guy to put in).

Great mod.

I do have one or two small issues though.

For starters: the audio in the beginning cuts out then picks up at the wrong time (which is no big deal, but i wanted to know if it's fixable)

also, I have noticed that the music loop is a little bit off.

And is there any way i can make this mod run more smoothly? My computer is great on memory but it lacks CPU in a very big way to the point where the battle swirl takes about 2X longer (among other things)

That's pretty much it for the moment.

Titeguy, changing language (Change files Flevel, Kernel ....) not lose anything? For example, how to raise HP or MP ...

Greetings.

Edit: When I start the game I get this:

I give to accept and work, but it works very slow.
