I think, with the right input, the community could crawl back to where it was.

With The SaiNt's work on higher res coming to a conclusion and Reunion's battle -> field model work there should be enough to keep it running.  Once Reunion finishes up we will have a nicely updated game to play with, and plenty of tweaking to be done (see Borde's work on mixed models to make all the NPC's).

At the end of the day there's still a fair bit going on.

Well, that looks kick ass... I'll certainly reinstall the game upon release.

Top notch work SaiNt

I fink i shud be a mod cos i iz got nuffink betta to do. </idiot>

Seriously tho, I think that one global mod would do the trick... to take some work off Qhimm.  Someone who is around a lot so they can nip trash threads in the bud, other than that I have nothing to contribute here... in fact, I'm trying to figure out why I bothered to post.

FYI, I'm not applying... look at my join date and look at my post count, although I have read the forums a lot more than it seems I just rarely have anything to contribute.

Wouldn't that mean that there's something wrong with your words, if I can turn them against you? Try being logical and honest, it helps. :)

In Alhexx's defence, everything is open to interpretation.  So anything he, or anyone else for that matter, says can be turned against them with the right spin.

Releases / Battle model > Field model Conversion FINALLY!!

Upon KojiroTakenashi saying I checked out her breasts and I think StarkRaven is right, the shading seems to make them evident in the in-game shot.
In-game the arms look even worse than in biturn, she isn't the gorilla girl she was on the previous attempt at the model but her arms are terribly thin, beef them out so they fit the shoulders better and the hands might not be an issue (though I suspect you might need to shrink them down a tad).

Anyway... good luck on the model, I'm off to bed.

Judging from the sizing on the Cloud model, I would say reduce the hands a little then fatten up the arms if poss.  But it's certainly looking better.

Both Cloud and Zack were in Ehrgeiz, but wouldn't you need to figure out the files on that game too?

General Discussion / FF7 PSP?

Could be... and I did hear that TA was rubbish...

Whereas I heard that Tactics was really cool, being English I haven't played it as it was never released over here.

General Discussion / Sephiroth vs Kefka
« on: 2005-06-07 13:23:36 »
That said... Kefka did pretty much have the powers of a God, whereas that is the power that Seph was striving to attain.

In you were to take boss difficulty into account then Seph would probs lose...

I can't really decide myself... I think they are both awesome hardass badguys.

Anyone ever see Lexx?  Vinny could be similar to Kai from that... He's dead and unaging, lives because he has some odd proto-blood.

Alternatively, on the Vader idea, who's to say his chest isn't covered with dials and stuff?  You never see him shirtless.

I thought tactics was pre-squeenix

12
Like I said, I think you have to unistall the game if you applied a buggy patch.

13
I thought anything that wasn't 1.02 was a junk patch... and I can't remember where the thread is about that...

As I recall you had to uninstall then reinstall if you put the dodgy patch on... but it's been a loooooooooooong time since I checked.

14
You all patched up to date?

FYI I think Steele has all the patches on his site http://www.ff7-universe.com... And although I say all, I only mean the ones that make the game work not the mod-esque patches.

Releases / Battle model > Field model Conversion FINALLY!!
« on: 2005-05-31 14:35:48 »
It's a backwards compatability thing, Squeenix said they wouldn't remake FFVII when it could still run on an up to date console (the ps2 and ps3 both play games off the older systems).  The difference with FFI - FFVI is that they were NES/SNES games before, and were updated/ported to ps1.

So evn though the game would probably sell reasonably, they won't do a remake as it is because people that want the game can still play in on their next gen console.

If you own the game then it's totally legal to have a backup copy of the discs... so search the normal downloading places (granted that's illegal but it's a means to an end)

General Discussion / why?
« on: 2005-05-29 00:40:51 »
Caddberry:  That is probably the single greatest reply I have ever read.  Engaging story to, I would like to know how it finished up - assuming you have the time.

P.S. xspudx: I thought you could use the chocobo if you had stables... but it screws up if you dont.

« on: 2005-05-27 15:21:23 »
It's been said before and I'll say it again, if you don't like the cussing then exclude Cid from your party whenever possible.  That way there will be ~5 cuss words in ~70 hours of play, good odds in my book.

The alternatives being you either don't play the game, or you quit being a pussy.

FYI markishness, the swearing in FF7 isn't even nearly as bad as you have indicated with your "*bleep* it, *bleepity*, you &*#*ing (^*^*bleep*er!!!!!!!!".  Also, in the US FF7 has a teen rating, the swearing in the game is nothing your average 13 year old hasn't hear before - so you are either not old enough to play the game or you need to grow up.

If the game translation is anything like how they deal with anime then there is supposed to be a hell of a lot more swearing...

There's hardly any cussing... and the only prostitution going on in Wall Market is at the Honeybee (well... and the Dons mansion)

General Discussion / Supernova equation?
« on: 2005-05-25 20:57:46 »
I'm a few months late but here's the equations taken from the posted avi.

1: Φ = WUγ + RUρ + SUγUρ
2: W = -SUγΦ
3: AU = (GMek^-2)^1/3
4: n = Πr^2

For those that don't know Φ, γ, ρ and Π are the Greek letters phi, gamma, rho and pi respectively. (pi looks a bit odd on here...)
Also ^ signifies a power, so r^2 is r squared, and Me is supposed to have the e as a subscript not just a letter - therefore signifying the mass of the Earth (it was an e as far as I can tell).

All that follows from this point is working on the assumption that the equations actually mean something.

I don't recognise all of these equations straight off, with the exception of 4 (area of a circle).
We can assume that 1 is only there to tidy up 2, as phi appears in both but is the subject of 1.  Now although it doesn't seem so from the equations in the video, I believe that the greek letters rho and gamma are subscripts of U - this implies that the multiple occurences of U represent different potential energies.  Other than that I can't figure out where 1 and 2 are really going, but overall I figure W is a negative energy(ignoring the fact that W is 1 and phi is in 2, as this makes life very difficult).
3 is something to do with the gravitational constant, the mass of the Earth and Boltzmanns constant.  My Physics in this area is a bit rusty, but the Boltzmann constant applies to gasses so it seems odd that it be included here - assuming of course that it is the Boltmann constant.  For the sake of simplicity I'm going with Qhimm, I'll assume it's not the Boltzmann and just say that 3 is a gravitational accelleration.

A few more assumptions and we are done... from the fact that the area of a circle is included I'm going to assume that the whole thing is set in 2 dimensions rather than 3(I can't think of another reason the area of a circle would be involved).  This is further supported by the potentials, if you assume rho and gamma refer to these dimensions.  We can also assume that the prefixes of the potentials have some sort of meaning, S meaning the Sun perhaps.  So the potentials are that applied by a specific body in the x or y (gamma or phi) direction.

In conclusion 1 and 2 string together to give the sum of the potentiasl (and therefore the attractive forces) of specific astral bodies (namely the Sun and other planets in the solar system), 3 gives the same but for the Earth and 4 just told us that it's working 2 dimensionally.

Basically its all the energy the solar system is transfering to and from that stupid asteroid that crashes into the Sun.

Assuming it's not just gibberish of course.  Yeesh.
