Oh man, I knew I'd love this! Just got everything working just the way I like it (I definitely recommend just leaving the menu overhaul alone), and I am SUPER impressed. FFVII modding has come a long way since the Phoenix Rejuvenation Project! Once again THANK YOU for making this package, typing out this easy-to-follow guide and offering a torrent with all of the necessary and optional files (I am now seeding it)! I am forever grateful!
 :-D  8)  :-P  :)

Since I'm here, I guess I'll answer this question:

While in-game, go to the menu, config and select "controller" to change it from "normal" to "customize".

While in the customize menu, line up the cursor with the command you want to assign and hit the "ok" button once to select it. Once selected, press the button to which you want to assign the command. I have a ps3 controller configured with Motioninjoy, so I would use the "Joystick" column, but if you're using the keyboard, change the buttons in the "keyboard" column.

Again, "Ok" button to select, then "any key" to reassign. Hope that answers your question!
Wow, such a detailed explanation, with screenshots and everything. Thank you very much! I had only played the 2012 version, which had a control config screen in the launcher, so I didn't realize there was an in-game one :P

Say, the game doesn't support analog controls, right?

Yea, no problem buddy! Glad I could be of assistance! As I said before, I'm very serious about FFVII. I'm 500% about sharing and experiencing the beauty of this game and helping other people to do so if they have any issues. I joined this forum just a few days ago solely to congratulate EQ2Alyza and everyone else involved with these stunning mod projects. Now that I'm here, it just makes sense to lend a hand when and if I can.

As for the analog support, in my experience (using Motioninjoy's DS3tool), it appears you can get analog support for the game, but if you do you can't use the D-pad, so you have to choose between the two. I am so used to the playstation version I prefer the D-pad now, but if you want to use the analog instead, all you have to do is, when you set up your PS3 controller with Motioninjoy, pick the Playstation 2 mode instead of the Playstation 1 mode under the "Profiles" tab (alternatively, you could use a custom profile with analog support):

https://www.flickr.com/photos/130920136@N06/17208427355/

Keep in mind, every time you close Motioninjoy, change the profile, or restart your computer, you'll have to reset the controls in-game again. But that's only if you have a ps3 controller and you're using Motioninjoy. Otherwise, there is no analog support I'm aware of.

I went over your tutorial, but I am still having issues whether I run it on safe settings, default, or complex shader. At first it refused to go full screen, and after playing with the settings it now shrinks the resolution of my monitor to 640x480, gives me a handful of error, and when it starts after those, the colours are all messed up.
Here's an image of the error boxes and the end result:

What GPU do you have? It's not reading it, shown by line 4.

Geforce GTX 550 Ti. The drivers are up to date, and I have had no other problems with any other programs. I had also tried to go into the NVIDIA control and manually setting the GPU, and nothing changed.

If one plays a pirated copy of the game, he has to expect such weird behaviour. The game files of such a copy aren't reliable and applying mods from here over them can lead to further unexpected issues. I fear you won't find any help on here, the guys here work on the official files only and so can provide help on non-pirated game files only.
But by all means if your copy happens to be legit, please disregard my post.

EDIT: Whoo-pete-whoopsy ! Didn't see your edit about Steam before posting, I'm sorry.

I am not pirate; please stop saying that. I will buy every Final Fantasy released for pc. I bought 3-4-7-8-13 and 13-2 I will buy 4 after years; but I am waiting Lightning returns released for pc. I will buy both of them. Because FF my favorite game series and FF7 my favorite game.

By the way I saw your post; just I want to say that.

He has the pirate avatar because he pirated FFX. I might remove it though, since we hardly support FFX here anyway and this keeps confusing people.

No idea. I've never seen that happen before. Check your APP.log and see what it reports after going there.

Maybe the save file you were using got corrupted? Did you do something to it that you didn't do to the other one ? (Black Chocobo maybe? i don't know)

Go into the Configure settings and fiddle with the shaders. I believe there are 2 of them that work for ATI cards.

Hi everyone. Recently got into the modding experience of FF7. As of now both the bootleg and 7th Heaven work very well without crashes. However, just wanted to know if these mod support up to a certain resolution. I play in a 4k monitor of 3840x2160 resolution which the steam config supports without any problems in fullscreen. However, using any modded launcher such as bootloader, with such a high resolution only is able to fit on screen about 25% of the whole image, making it unplayable. I'll provide the app.log once I get home today, but I wanted to verify if any resolution can be accepted in fullscreen or if there is any cap at all.

I read of a similar user having the same problem in the thread with a Mac retina display but sadly, his problem didn't arrive to a written solution within the thread's posts.

Thanks in advance.

FIXED: If you customized the display scaling from 100% to probably some range above of numbers, it isn't going to scale correctly with the bootloader or 7th Heaven. Return the value to 100% and it runs full screen at 4k without any problem.

RR787, can you explain what settings you changed to make this work, and where you made these changes? I'm having the same issue...

Thanks!

I'm getting only one small issue. After installing all the mods, all my drivers, etc. everything is working great, EXCEPT, for some reason, even though I set the resolution to my monitors native res, it still seems to lower the res once the game launches and stretches it out so all I see is the top lefthand corner.

I'm actually running the Steam version on a 2013 Macbook Pro using Bootcamp with Windows 7. It's got an NVidia Geforce 720M GPU in it, so it can definitely handle the mods. However, I suspect it may have to do with the fact that my native reso is 2880 - 1800. However, I tried lowering it to similar multiples but still get the issue of my game being stretched out and unplayable. Here's my app log:

Worked, thanks! Too bad everything else is tiny, but that's a small price to pay for FF7 in retina!
