Troubleshooting / Re: Can't launch FF7 with 7th heaven

But why am i in FAT32...
If your external drive is something like a WD Passport, I could see it being factory-formatted as FAT32 to ensure compatibility with Windows, MacOS, and Linux all in one go since NTFS is license-encumbered.

The current version of 7H (v2.0) is English-only.  Three options:
1. Tell Steam you want to play in English instead of French
2. Kick back with a cold beer and wait a week or two... very close to having v2.1 ready, which includes support for French
3. Find a copy of the old 7H Converter program and run that, then run 7H (Not recommended since options 1 and 2 are both easier and less invasive)

The woodwork is beautiful, just seems a little dark in that back corner (Shin-Ra saving a couple pennies by not replacing a burned-out light bulb, perhaps?)

Please, show this to the creator of the software, I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one don't want to install a software with two positives in virustotal.com
I doubt it's possible.  7H depends on having admin-level access to the game files, and in the case of Steam, the ability to copy files out of system-protected folders like \Program Files (x86)\ into non-protected folders like \Games\. As for virustotal, the two engines claiming there's "something" are ones I'd never heard of.  Maybe if the well-known ones like Kaspersky, Trend, and ESET were flagging it, unab0mb might have a problem.  But "eGambit" and "Jiangmin"??  Hoo dey?

You have a password used here right?
You type things between your machine and the server?

Currently its all plain text.. Its not very hard to setup  a MiTm and capture packets so its in everyone best interest for all sites to be encrypted.
This can happen at any node between your machine and this server.
That anybody cares about a low-traffic modding site is questionable, and if you're using the same login/pass combo on multiple sites (especially with browser-based password creation and management a thing now) you're already dumb enough that SSL isn't going to help.
It costs nothing to get a cert from https://letsencrypt.org/
Doesn't change the fact that installation and management of certs remains a pain in the butt.

7th Heaven / Re: [FF7] 7th Heaven+FFNx Guide&FAQ
« on: 2020-06-18 12:49:53 »
Ciaobuongiorno. I was wondering, your guide says to install to C:\7th Heaven\ and also, from this very thread, it seems that it looks for FF7's installation in C:\Games\FINAL FANTASY VII\FF7.exe.

I have Steam installed on an external usb Solid State Drive. Is that going to make it incompatible with this installation process? Your guide seems to skip over this part, unless I'm just not reading it carefully enough. Or do I simply direct it to my installation folder, regardless of which drive it's on? Will it be ok to install 7th Heaven on a drive other than my primary HDD (C:\)? Does this work, or should I install it on the primary HDD?
It doesn't matter whether the drive is internal or external, only that the game doesn't live in a system protected folder like \Program Files (x86)\

Who cares about a theme we need more important things.
1. Https
Why?  Encryption fanbois (cough google cough) notwithstanding, what practical benefit does spending the money (and suffering the headaches of installing!) does HTTPS provide to a forum like this?

Good luck finding it in Apple News' archives, but an article from I read (probably from The Guardian or BBC, maybe a WSJ freebie) basically said "Rumors of protection rackets were started on right-wing sites, then passed along as hearsay by police, but every business owner we contacted said that was a lie."
Def not the article I was thinking of earlier today, but here's one from Politico that also sums things up fairly nicely.

Are they using plumbing, electricity, internet, etc? If so, they kinda need to leech off of the country that surrounds them no?

I might be wrong, but this seems like crazy anarchists mixed with crazy socialists to me.
I'm sure all the meters are still running, and eventually the residents and business owners will pay for what they used/provided. As for the "types" taking part in the "festivities," all the articles I've read which aren't breathlessly screaming about chaos or doctoring photos have been pretty much in line with the above Politico... hippie commune, sure, but hardly anarchists and socialists (which, in America, is code for "Dirty pinko commie scum!").

I've heard reports of strong arming, and gangs forming what amounts to a local mafia, bullying companies into paying for protection, and then again reports of a peaceful liberal utopia.

I just find it amusing... in the last day, I've seen two posts on FB regarding CHAZ.  One from a MAGA Trump girl who linked an article from SOFREP (which I'd never heard of before, but apparently has links to US Special Forces) that it's like we suddenly have warlords and gun-toting anarchists parading around downtown Seattle with impunity, the other from someone who went into CHAZ and took pictures of what really reminded me of my lib-arts college town, complete with brightly painted road murals, dog walking in short skirts, kids toting around on scooters in front of "WE'RE OPEN" signs, and not a single gun in sight.  So who are we supposed to believe?

7th Heaven / Re: [FF7 PC] Mod Manager - 7th Heaven 2.0
« on: 2020-06-12 02:46:37 »
FF7.exe must always be the one supplied by 7H for best compatibility and stability. You can use an alternate EXE by calling it something else like MyCustom_FF7.exe and selecting it under Settings>General Settings>FF7 EXE.
Just know that if you use a custom exe, that mods which depend on hext (like ESUI) are likely to break in strange and unpredictable ways.

66
and in my case 7th heaven does not work
The only time we've seen 7H not work is when being fed a pirated copy of the game.  If that's your problem, Steam puts it on sale quite often for around 5 or 6 USD/EUR/GBP.

Quote
i've heard 7th heaven is not compatible with other mod programs
The only "other mod program" out there is Reunion, beginning with the just-released R06.  R05 (and previous) generally worked just fine with 7H, though there could be compatibility issues with other mods (but that's neither Reunion's nor 7H's fault, just comes with the modding territory)

67
am I doing something wrong?? Or the FFNx doesn't work with certain mods???
Probably the former, but FFNx absolutely HATES the 60fps mod, so if you're trying to use that combination, kill 60fps and see if things improve.  If not, come join us on the discord and we'll figure out what's going wrong.

68
I have a question, does anyone know if is better to make an IRO file with the DDS files (FFNX driver) OR is it better to make the IRO from PNG files?
If you're using FFNx, then DDS all the way, and never look back :)

69
I've tried a lot of different brands. Only this "Thermo active" by "pharmalead" worked for me, the exact 1 litre product code.
Bummer... I've seen capsaicin creams around, but none that anybody's actually recommended, and I'd be afraid of ordering the wrong stuff online since my only experience with the Greek language has been through math and engineering classes.

70
Do you know what the English name of that cream is?  Might be something another person I know could use.

71
but if pngs could use cache files like aali's dll it should work.
As I understand it, that cache was where many (most?) of the really nasty memory leaks lived.

72
Installation - Yes, people are still trying (and failing) to follow the directions on your blog, then coming to the Discord asking for help.  Not as many as during original release, but they still come in occasionally.

Traffic - Things are much better now, and during the initial release we also had torrent swarms going though many did not avail themselves to this.  One person in particular, between his main server and torrent seeds, was pushing over 2Gb/sec for a while.  Of course, a torrent is only as good as its peers, and (as is typical) a LOT of people would drop off after completion rather than stick around to help seed.  I've since taken the tracker down because the built-in methods were keeping up (I'd only see a leech every day or two), and there's a very annoying IP announcement bug that was preventing some folks (like me!) from seeding at all, but it's on my list of things to fix once work settles down (I'm with a cloud/MSaaS provider, so as you can imagine I'm kinda swamped)

Avatars - Not like Alyza to miss something, but after FF7R was delayed, we wanted to get 7Hv2 out on what would have been release day to help keep the hype train rolling, and there was a LOT of last-minute scrambling to hit that date.  Send a PM, it could be as simple as a missing option in the existing XML that can be fixed for Catalog 3.1.

73
I believe Jusete is still doing all original rendering in PNG and handing that off to Shampignon for cutting.  Pretty sure S will continue releasing PNG format files (max compatibility), and allowing us to convert to DDS if we wish.

Releases / Re: [FF8:Remastered] Project Maximum FMV
« on: 2020-06-04 03:09:18 »
The entire thing would be about 3GB at 2x and 6GB at 4x. As for the codec, the game only accepts VP8 which isn't great (VP9 is much better). I tried H264, HEVC, VP9 but the game always crashed. FFNx? Isn't that for the 2013 Steam Release? Unfortunately, I don't own that version of the game.
Size - That's not too bad... cmh175's FF7 movie pack weighed in at 3.5GB, though I'm not sure if it's a 2x or 4x.  Either way, you're right in the ballpark.
FFNx - Will work with the original CD release and the original Steamn not sure about Remastered.  The only thing that's missing is direct texture replacement.  Regardless, TrueOdin doesn't like taking 'no' for an answer, and I wouldn't be surprised if he'll have texture replacement cracked before long.  It's amazing when someone gets an itch and can't stop scratching

You need to take down your 7H v2 install instructions and replace them with a simple "They're included as part of the Qhimm v3 catalog."  EQ2Alyza did you the favor of adding Remako in the release day v3 catalog, and the instructions on your site are causing confusion for newbies.  When Remako v2 is done, you can ask Strife98 to give you a hand with the new XML options, then add it to MotR (which is also linked by default in 7H v2), and again bypass all the "download this, copy that, move those, refresh here...." steps.
