General Discussion / Re: FF7 Remake Gameplay Reveal
« on: 2015-12-13 02:15:07 »
Since it's on Unreal 4, I hope it's mod friendly, so I can make it look more like this, and less like FFXV with its drab and colorless vibe.

That pic looks much better than the trailer haha! It actually looks like FF7.

That rider has X-potions. Nothing to fret over.

Yeah... that Silver Chocobo fight... I can't recall exactly what I was thinking. I guess I just wanted a bizarre fight to reflect on the silliness of chocomog. But it didn't turn out too good. In hindsight I should have done something else.

253
A MORE casual approach lol. It's still hard (some über hardcore player still thinks it's easy though).

If any fight last longer than an hour you are doing something wrong haha. The hardest bosses should take 45 mins at the most.

@Ethario
No it is not included. I recommend using Ali's custom graphics driver for that.

Note that it isn't necessary to break damage to beat the game, but if you prefer a more casual approach on the endgame (end of disc 2+) you'd want it. The last bosses are a real pain in the ass without (unless you do it the easy way, as shown in Segachief's lvl 1 playthrough)

That it will be released in an episodic-like fashion makes sense considering how little time there is for development. I even jokingly told myself this would be the only way they could possibly make a release before 2018.

This format doesn't bother me that much if it is made "correctly". However, knowing this is a AAA company, and SE to boot, we all know it will be milked to some extend. It's utterly unavoidable.

If they somehow made each episode within the $20 area, with a solid amount of content and option to transfer saves between episodes I wouldn't blame them too much. I see no reason why it would not be possible to have a shared worldmap, and other resources, for all episodes. But the worldmap thing probably wont happen anyway...

The way I predict it is more like a FF13 kind of thing. No option to go back. Stuck in episode etc.

If it was a straight remake I honestly doubt it'd sell well, chances are it still won't sell all that well, you can't exactly remake a game in this decade purely for those of us who played and fell in love with the original nearly 20 years ago, that's asking for poor sales, you would need to appeal beyond your core audience and that's what they've done and it had to be done to even make the effort worth the cost of even a straight remake.

Hmmm, I dunno. I think it would be fully possible for SE to make a "simple" remake using the original source material. The production cost would drop significantly. No, they obviously want a blockbuster with this. With that in mind, all you said here is pretty much true.

But why MUST it be like that? I get this presupposition from most people that it HAVE to be a blockbuster, AAA production. Without this mentality, they could cut the production cost in 1/100 and make a solid profit off of it (and at the same time keep the "core-fans" happy).

General Discussion / Re: CLOUD IN SMASH BROTHERS
« on: 2015-11-13 14:44:27 »
One of the biggest reasons I have not completely written off the FF7 remake is that he recent iterations of Cloud (specifically the new Dissidia and Nomura's drawing for Cloud's birthday) have been a lot less "emo" than the KH 1 & 2, Dissidia, Dissidia 012, Advent Children, and Crisis Core appearances. It gives me a little hope that he won't be moping around the entire game.
...

In no way have I written in off either. I will most likely like it to some extent. That being said, I very confident it will not blow me away like it did back when I first played it. That's pretty much impossible. If SE manages to do that I'll eat my own boxers (worn for at least 3 days).

i was expecting ethier Cecil , Bartz, or Terra to be the picks for if any of the final fantasy icons were gonna be in smash

Cloud is by far the most popular though (as in well known). The choice is very understandable. Even people who have never played any FF could know who cloud is. Bartz? Cecil? Not so much.

That is actually the good 'ol Cloud, not the emo Cloud I was expecting. All gud!  :)

Never played any  of those games though...

At lvl 30 there should be other places more suitable. For instance wutai area. Just don't go up to the bridge to start the yuffie quest. Or outside temple of the ancients.

If you consistently die in 1 area, then leveling in a lower lvl area would be faster. Less exp but at least you won't have to reset due to game over all the time.

260
Beat all other enemies 1st, if any. Then time your attacks. To damage it you must have 2 attacks lined up. for example: Tifa use a normal attack to remove immunity, then Vincent has a Ultima queued right afterwards. 3rd character should stand by to heal, etc.

261
@ManuBBXX
Those are the Qwim type enemies? Yes they grow big and are immune to damage. Whenever they "take a rest" they become immune. When you attack them, they should temporarily lose immunity until they rest again. They rest when the message box says so. I can't recall the exact wording but it's something like "Qwim is taking a rest".

Looking forward to "Zelda's Cyst" lmao  :o

"FF Cosplay"
"Gee Celes..."
"Helium'n'Carbon"
"Innovative Call"
"Joke Call"
...

So I was thinking about doing Nightmare but if that's so incomplete this looks like a good alternative.

I'm just curious about one thing. Does this mod alter stat growth to give everyone clearly defined roles they can't power through with materia? I like job classes more than "everyone can do anything."

Kinda... Barret is the best tank for instance. Aerith best caster. You are slightly more restricted in this mod. To a certain degree. Using Barret as main caster is not smart.  In the end (that is, at the end of the game) anyone can have any role if set up properly. But checking your characters stat in any case is smart.

Wow... This is embarrassing to say the least. point 6 is kinda true for the original too btw.

This may be a product of bad business/office policy. The graphics guy was supposed to finish the seams on Monday, but his boss wouldn't allow him report more work-hours on "tile work" for invoicing reasons. Thus the guy had to cooperate the work-in-progress tiles to the finished product.

SE sets a budget, and the poor guys working on it are hard pressed to justify any work that isn't strictly necessary to finish the product.
I can be wrong of course....

In my previous job I had to justify every hour I worked on a product in order to bill the customers correctly. It was a pain in the ass, so I quit.

EDIT: lmao, whats up with the modify option? it doesn't save. The post stays as is...

I'm trying as hard as I can to reproduce that bug, but the program refuses to do anything wrong. I edited every single control on blobra, changed name etc., but it still works fine for me.
Remember, when reporting a bug, you cannot be specific enough about what you did. I still don't have much to work with here.

Looks like you are working on windows 10. I Haven't tested that yet. The error message suggest the file buffer is too short for the filestream, which means the OP could have something to do with it.

In any case, when you get this sort of message, close the program and restart.

I'm open for suggestions. We would by no means be bound by 1 place only. Rental cars etc.

Yes it looks like it. I also get the sane error if only the battle.fs is in the folder. If all 3 files are in the same folder you extract pack too it runs smoothly. At least for me. That error shouldn't occur if yuo place all 3 files in the same folder.

Thank you I got em.

EDIT:
It works here just tested with the English. I forgot to mention that battle.fl and battle.fi should be in the same folder as battle.fs.
Can you sand me the spanish battle.fi and battle.fl?

@Sysnel
Can you send me those battle.fs files? Upload to mediafire or something (zipped) and pm me a link. I just tried on a original and steam version of ff8 and I have no problems. I'm guessing it may have something to do with those special characters.

General Discussion / Japan holiday.

Me and a friend have considered japan as a destination as a holiday trip. Any recommendations? I could imagine hot springs and stuff.

Scratch holiday; its more like a getaway and have fun trip.

Hmmm, stat curve actually sounds fun to make. More userfriendly to boot.

1 tab for each stat... Hmm, sounds kinda redundant to me. Maybe if you could give me a screen sample (made in paint or whatever). If you have any ideas on userfriendly improvement it would be awesome.  8)
Remember, you can keep the stat progression window open while editing stats. I could make a stat curve window...

General help... I know, the help file is a bit outdated.

Unless there is new documentation in regards of enemies I'm kinda stuck. I have no time investigating myself, sadly.

Why did I not name this program Lunatic Pandora?

Do you still experience bugs eXistenZe?

C'mon, it's obvious. They cater to the trends.

Is... this translated correctly?? iirc all other FF remakes were made into action RPGs as well. Please, correct me if I'm wrong...
