Newbie installing Gfx mods
« on: 2012-06-07 15:43:08 »
Hi, newbie here.

I'm here basically, because I want to make my FF7 look great.
i.e. no lego/chibi models, no blocky/pixelated backgrounds/videos when stretched, especially to HD resolutions, etc.
Basically just get rid of anything blocky, pixelated, or lego.
I don't really care much for any other types of mods.

So far, I've been looking around and I *think* I would need the following:
- NEEDED: field models, field and battle scenes, and remastered FMVs
- MAYBE: battle models, and also menu overhaul

I'm thinking of installing the following mods/patches (in the order I've listed):

Cutscenes:
FMV Restoration
(Replaced eidoslogo.avi with a dummy blank video :p)

Field Scenes:
sl1982 Field packs
Project Blackfan sets
FacePalmer set

Battle Scenes:
Magochocobo sets
FeliX Leonhart sets (also with some Field scenes)

Models:
Unified Model Installer U002a (for the lego field models, motorbike minigame, the awesome weapon models I've seen, etc.)
^ (is this alone is enough?)

I ordered them this way because I think the later installed ones will overwrite the previous ones in case of conflicts, so I put the best looking ones at the bottom.
Am I getting this right? And is there anything that I can add?

Thanks.

PS: Also, I've tried installing Team Avalanche's Hi-Res (was quite hard to find since the links in the official sticky are currently down), but...what exactly does it add? I'm not seeing any differences... but then again, I haven't gotten out of Midgar yet, lol.

And also, I'd install Menu overhaul now too but I'm still currently enjoying YAMP (Kruci's always run, and Gypt for skipping cutscenes), just so I can test the mods quickly. And they don't seem to work together.
