changing videos in FFVII
« on: 2007-03-21 18:13:46 »
Hi ^^ I have a suggestion and I think is maybe interesting to do, well, Its so "simple": Chage the video files with others, for example: nivlsfs.avi (Sephiroth through the fire on Nibelheim) with the one that appears in the Advent Children, i have done it but, it does some BUG really bad: "The screen just goes to black and the game crashes/freeze (my PC too LOL [¬_¬U])

maybe isnt possible to do that? or am I doing something bad? :?

The file is in ".avi" like the others but i think theres a problem with it..In fact I have all the videos in my HD but, when i put the new video in the folder MOVIES it dont display the picture of the video like the others too...but i dont know what really is...

I think is interesting to do but, well, theres the problem, I hope you can help me or simply say something about here^^

This has been discused many times. It's most likely a codecs problem. FF7 doesn't support all the available codecs. Personally, I had luck long ago with DivX 3. I think I've heard of succesful stories with indeo. You must reencode your video with one of those supported codecs.

I tried a while back without much success. I used DivX 3, but I couldn't get the game working after.

I've made a newer version of my opening.avi, this one has a greater frame rate than the original, I've also done videos from Advent Children that fit with FF7 (Sephiroth fire, etc).  I used the Indeo codec however, I think it looked better in-game compared to Trumotion.  That and many people whined about configuring the Xvid codec to me, so this was basically drop and play.

The new opening video will be released in due time.  I'm not sure if I can upload the "Sephiroth Fire" scene or not.  I'll find out shortly.

From what I remember, in order for the sound in the videos to sync up, it has to be in 22050hz, compression optinal; after that, most video codecs should work just fine.
