Just pray to god now that you aren't blessed with the cosmo crash.

Haha, and pray to god you didnt just jinx the poor guy too!

First things first, jedwin was the person responsible for finding and fixing the buggy code responsible for the chocobo crash, but you cant exactly thank him as he seems to have not been present after that business was done. But qhimm wrapped it up in a neat little package, so thanking him for that, and for this website of course, is your best bet.

To my knowledge the EA version is the exact same as the Eidos version just repackaged, so any and all errors or possible errors are probably the exact same with both releases. Theres too many to be able to tell in one post though, just be aware that playing FF7 PC, on XP especially, is like walking with a pocket full of assorted bombs, you never know which are gonna blow up on ya. Just play the game and be happy it works at all, and if you have any more problems, check back here for a solution (using the search option first preferably).

IceT, please chill out. There's a difference between what Darkdevil said and the general attitude towards n00bs on the forums. What he meant was people that come here, register, get someone to take them past their problem in the game, and then leave, and their stay was simply to have someone do that one task for them. If that's all someone is interested in, then Eidos provides (or do they still? I know they used to) a save file to take you past that point, though it isnt a good one and you lose that personal touch to the game using a generic save.

You came to ask for help, halkun was able to help. And Im sure someone else would have even played through for you and might still if that solution doesnt work for you.

Now the question is will you prove Darkdevil wrong? Youre more than welcome to stay and post on the forums, and if you decide to, then Im sure everyone will make you feel welcome here, provided that you dont take it personally when someone gets annoyed by something that is quite honestly very annoying.

Archive / codecs w/ upside down patch
« on: 2004-07-11 04:38:38 »
First: Please don't double post. There, I said it, now noone else has to.

Second: That doesnt sound like a codec problem, it sounds more like youve somehow gotten a bad copy of the battle animation files. Are you using the original discs? If so then try reinstalling it one more time and then installing the upside-dpwn movie patch.

Are you using the 1.02 patch? If not, get it (I dont have a link but someone else may have one offhand, or just go to Eidos site). Simple to use, just do what the instructions say and DONT check the NVidia box. That will give you hardware acceleration (provided 1.02 applies to your card, it does to any GeForce2), which Im not sure is even a solution, as most of the time its running in hardware rendering mode thats the problem to begin with. But still worth a try.

But as messiah said, connecting on a 28K modem can be tedious, So perhaps theres a stylesheet hack or something.  Provided he uses FireFox.

Neva! Just IE, I may hate M$, but I still prefer their products over most of the competition. Never used FireFox, but Ive had bad luck with 3rd party browsers, I didnt care for Avant when it was recommended, and Netscape has to be the most appauling thing Ive ever seen, just my opinions, feel free to not agree.

But Im also usually running a few things. Im simultaniously connected to Yahoo and MSN messengers and AIM any time Im online, as well as ICQ when I remember it, which all take bandwidth. You might not think much of it, but remember my bandwidth amouths to very little, if I download, it moves 2k/s on average, and having anything running adds up.

I dont mind the avatars, as theyre usually the last thing on the page to laod anyway, and Im already well on my way reading the posts when they load. Having the option to disable them would be more a luxury than a necessity.

If Qhimm decides to do it, I'll probably take advantage of it, if he doesnt, I havent lost anything on the deal, and Im still happy to be here! :D

The links worked fine for me. But Id be behind you 110% on that, I dont think theres anyone here that wouldnt like that.

Quarter screen?
I thought FF8PC can be played in Full Screen Mode already?

It does. As for why this is even an issue, I kinda wondered myself.  :erm:

Perhaps phpBB could be tweaked to crank out an avatar free version of the forums, for people who want it? Or even graphics lite version? Might make modem users happy..

Coming from a 28.8k connection, I can honestly say that would be superb! Haha.

Well, not sure what I could do, as Im not really knowledgeable of most of what youre doing, but if anyones willing to hold my hand and walk me through a bit of the technique and get me up to speed, from there Im a willing workhorse. If noone else is able to help, and someones willing to show me what to do, Im always on my instant messengers provided Im online at the time (28.8k, gotta love it).

General Discussion / Please help!!! Where to buy FF7?!!

Damn, you guys are terrible at staying on topic. Could people at least try and help, or not answer at all?

Wow, someones overly sensitive. We already gave you suggestions, just about anything helpful that could be thought of was said by now Im sure. FYI, when a thread goes off topic like this, it usually means its about time for it to give up the ghost.

For your question: Try to get your parents to help you pay for it on ebay or amazon.com, try every games store you an find in your area, that goes double for the used games bins, and try any place with an electronics department that sells PC games.

haha. People don't only have sex like rabbits but they dress like them too?

No.

People have sex like tigers and dress like them too.

Not rabbits.

You're thinking...I dont know what the hell you're thinking ~.^

I think tigers are the least of anyones worries, just think, koalas, pandas, and the dreaded giraffe! :isee:

honestly nope ... but i thought that transparency info could be somewhere in the groups ... because one of Cloud's swords gets more and less transparent, i think it depends on his health or something

If youre referring to his ultimate weapon, yea, its shade changes depending on his health...

I urge anyone who is uncomfortable with the topic of fictional nudity to please refrain from posting. I'm aware that there are some really conservative opinions out there regarding nudity and the few media it is acceptable in, so telling me how you feel about it is nothing short of redundant.

Oh I don't have a problem with it... I just think it's a bit sad to be honest.

I have to agree, I prefer my T&A to be real, I much prefer the ability to touch and taste rather than just see on paper or screen as the case may be. Sorry if that was too blunt for anyone, but if maturity isnt in short supply, then there should be no problems.

That's not to say I wouldn't be good at it -I've just never had occasion to crack anybody else's code or formats other than debugging my own, and I'd be so far behind the capabilities of some of the team members here that my abilities would be better put to use on other things. If I'm provided with file formats by others, I can whip up tools for the formats without a problem.

Well, do what you can, as long as youre willing. I myself cant offer much help either, the key thing is to watch the forums for anything you can help with, and offer assistance where you can, and if you can think up anything useful you can do and do it, so much the better. Not everyone here is up to the same page, some of us are at an even more novice level than you Im sure (myself being one of those).

Because I'm not a modeller. I'm a programmer. I have absolutely zero artistic talent. My usefullness is in the realm of game engine programming, applied math, and physics. Anything beyond that is somebody else's job. Heh. I can get meshes into a game, but somebody else needs to make'em for me.

If this is the case, I have a suggestion. I see the nude mod idea as pointless except to show that it can be done, because a deecnt one would take a great deal of work and a large amount of change to the game. But with the knowledge you do have, Im sure you could be helpful to the community if you put that knowledge to work in assisting with cracking the remaining formats in the LGP files, and other such tasks which have yet to be accomplished. Not only will this make your nude mod idea possible on a better scale in the future, but it will also help everyone else here in any projects they chose to pursue in the future.

Say, do you know there the 7777 check is made?

(If HP==7777 then damage == 7777)

Just a guess on my part, and I wouldnt know how to check and verify it just now, but Id imagine the Lucky 7s factor would be located near if not along with the other status effects. Just like poison drains HP every turn and small reduces the damage modifiers so that you can only deal 1, lucky 7s alters your damage to a flat 7777 every hit.

If the applicable files governing status change information have been figured out already and its not there however, I apologize for wasting everyones time reading this, haha.

I just talk from expericance, I can't tell the future.

In which case we can only hope that history doesnt repeat itself should a day come when enough has been learned to make the game our b*tch, haha.

Heh.. this topic is hillarious.

It was worth it just to see halkun go off like that.

Well, as much as Id never have a care about using it, a top-less/nude mod would be interesting to see just for the fact that it would show definite progress with the editing of the models. Think about it: now isnt the right time for it, since even after everything thats been done thus far, theres still so much more that has yet to be figured out. But imagine being able to play with the models to the extent that one could make such a drastic change in appearance as that?

D'oh, haha, forgot that your issue wasnt that they dont play, its that theyre messed up. Multi-tasking at the moment, my apologies.

I presume the movies dont have the black band problem when you play them in WinAmp?
