I give up - and need help!
« on: 2011-12-19 01:47:45 »
I'm getting frustrated installings mods for this game. I'm using bootleg and it seems great and all but to be honest it's a clusterfuck in my opinion. I'd rather have an installer that does everything, period. Anyways, all I want is 1 single thing that way I can replay my beloved FF7.

THE ONE THING: HQ Movies

- I prefer 640smooth
- FMVRes Secondary

I have tried everything to get these movies to work and they simply won't play at all in-game!

I prefer Remix + one of the above movies if possible...

Thx

Install FF7 to the default location.
Install Remix.
Run the post install specific to your computer architecture (32 or 64 bit).
Extract the movies and copy them to the movies folder.
Voila.
The game should now run for short periods and only crash intermittently.

If the movies still don't play, then there is a deeper driver conflict on your system.
Try different versions of the Aali's OpenGL driver.

I tried that and it still doesn't work. You may be right, I probably need to reformat or something...

Could you go into a deeper explaination of how FF7 actually interacts with the movies?

For example, if I install Remix and replace the opening movie with a HQ version (same filename and ext) it no longer plays at all.

I've only been able to get the movies to work 100% w/ Remix, but it's absolutely annoying how low quality the movies are.

Brat, can you take a look at my attachment? Maybe it will give you a clue to what I'm doing wrong in regards to Bootleg?

Hi blueknavish,

i will try to locate/solve your movie problem.
But first i need more informations about your system.
Please be as much precise as you can.
  • Operating System (e.g. Windows7, 64bit)

  • Graphics Card (NVIDIA, ATI, ...)
Are you using the up to date driver ?!

  • Do you have installed special codec packs ? (K-Lite, ...)

  • Can you play the movies with your standard movie player ?
(Windows Media Player, VLC media player, ...)

  • Which version of FF7 do you have installed ?
    (english, german, ...)

  • Do you have installed the up to date driver from Aali ?!
    >Click me<   => scroll down to the bottom

  • Which mods are you using ?
And in which order do you have them installed ?

Important: Don't use the Remix, because it is outdated and full of bugs !
                   Use the Bootleg instead.

Greetings from Germany  ;)
