Total Conversion (W.I.P)

I am currently working on a project, which sadly has no name at the present moment.
I plan to replace all that i can in the Final Fantasy VII (PC version) of the game, with models from other games..

The games i have ripped so far, are, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy XII, Kingdom Heart, Kingdom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy 7:crisis core,   and Final Fantasy 7: Dissidia (JPN Version).

I am going to replace as many Non Player Characters, Player Character, Monsters, and Weapons as possible.
I am going to have the Field model proportional Chibi, and the battle models normal sized....

I will post screenies shortly.
And i do not intend on releasing this!
I do not plan on getting a C/D from Enix anytime soon.
Lol.

not yet....
but i have FFX-2 and FFXII
and i will only share if you are joining the project........
cause its copy righted stuff you know.

Well, Yuffie, I had about a month where I tried my best to get Dirge of Cerberus models out of the game.  I had a post in the General section of the forums about it where I compiled all the known information about how to do so.

It IS possible, but way beyond my knowledge of modeling.  I'd be interested in helping you(since I have most of the .obj already), but I'm not sure how good I'll be at doing so.

See my post in PRP with my link to the excel document, that should give you a nice head start on which enemies can be substituted.  The FFVIII models are easy to get, but not yet possible to convert to a usable format :|

There are a few others around here like NeoCloudStrife, slayersnext, Luis_Aviles, and Grimmy307 who all seem to be interested in doing the same thing.  Since you seem to be the leader of this "project" maybe you can round everybody together and organize something?

I am still learning blender,
but, the only thing i don't understand is how to implement the textures....
And I am hardly a leader, lol.
But, i will try to get everyone who is willing to join!

Sounds like a great project!

You shouldn't release it here, it could cause a C & D. If you had your own site, you could release it there, or you could just release it privately or something.

This project is just for fun on my part!

Its all one big learning experience, considering I plan to go into computer programming and 3D rendering after college.
I thought this would be a good start!
:D.
So i have no plans for a release yet...
WHo knows i might make my own site.


ON a side note..
if i ripped  CC models with RINOA..
do i have to implement the textures myself.. or is that already done..
cause when i render it the colors are all there.. but if i were to put Rude into FF7 would the colors stick?

Alright, well since the Adamantoise is the one squeeble used in his tutorial, that will be the one I begin with.   If I get anywhere I'll be sure to post some screenshots here.

Okay,
I have hit a snag.
I am trying to port in the Dissidia Buster Blade.. as my test.
So i copied the P. File in kimera...
it looks like a white blob in kimera..
and the original had texturing..
i have set the Rtaa to the 10 HCR reading like you have to in slayernext's mod.

but when i go to test it, there is absolutely no sword... no white blob..
no nothing.
just this really tiny rainbow swirl thing, that is like a few paces behind cloud.
i am not sure what could be wrong...
the transparency? maybe its not sized right........ but i wouldn't think size would really matter for this?

hey yuffie_lover you want dissidia or CC models converted into the .obj or smd format? ill send it to you if you want  :wink: and its easy to convert it to .3ds format in biturn.

so you have already know how to export dissidia gmo files to obj format, but you dont know what is smd files and how to export gmo to smd files? anyway if you export dissidia gmo files to .smd just changed the command line -smdout

only need is .3ds file to import it into 3dsmax, apply the texture and flip the uv's in pc creator save it

to get chibi proportions right, you have to edit the mesh data directly with a model editing program (i use the original FF7 models as a reference), since you cant just resize parts in kimera for the proportions to work properly.

Thanks to valiant efforts of Viashino, i have been able to remedy my little issue with the sword.. lol
It seems i had forgotten to flip the polygons.

Now its a all a matter of sizing it down... repositioning it... and applying the texture.
Should be done by tomorrow... maybe in two days....
i am still learning, so yeah.

I will post screenies soon.

It's complicated. i'll try making a video tutorial, but my computer is very weak at the moment and it can't run most of its programs, so i can't use the tools i normally use to make videos.
