I have noticed so far that when the game plays the sleep jingle (when you stay at an inn, etc), the music doesn't come back until you leave the inn/house/wherever you are.

For people trying to get a good comparison for the songs available in Dancing Mad, it's worth noting that the Music Player patch that is part of the Ted Woosley Uncensored Edition is compatible.  So you can test all the available songs right at the beginning of the game, in Narshe, to see how they sound.

7th Heaven / Re: 7th Heaven issues
« on: 2017-03-15 03:22:29 »
I ran into a rather odd problem the other day.  I installed 7th Heaven and most of the mods listed in the tutorial following the instruction exactly, and everything was working great.  I exited FF7 to set up my controller through Steam, and then ran FF7 again through 7th Heaven... and even though I hadn't changed anything, suddenly no mods were loading.  And when I say no mods were loading, I mean there were no FMV's at all, the menu text was scrunched up as it appears when you run the wrong exe (even though I confirmed the right exe was running, ff7_bc.exe because I had Becacause and Menu Overhaul active), and once I got to the game itself, everything was black except the text boxes.  So clearly some really odd loading problem appeared here...

Doubtful, since Iros is no longer around. The source code is released now, but no one has worked on it  :|

Where?  It's C#, right?  I may be able to help a bit with that.

Unfortunately, none of the APP.LOG files I have appear to contain anything but startup stuff.  As for my computer, I have an AMD Athlon X4 3800 MHz processor, 8 GB of RAM and an nVidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti.

Also, on my computer, if I active "Disable Mouse" in Tweaks & Cheats, the game crashes on startup.  Thought you'd like to know ;)

7th Heaven / Losing Control During Game With 7th Heaven
« on: 2016-11-11 01:36:04 »
An oddity I noticed today trying 7th Heaven out... the first time, I just activated "Skip Cutscenes", and ran the game.  Everything's fine.  Then I activated The Reunion, made the EXE switch, ran the game... and now arrow keys don't work.  At all.  I can't even start the game.  So I removed all the plugins and ran FF7 without 7th Heaven.  Same problem.  Apparently, FF7 is no longer using the arrow keys.  At all.

Edit: Got it working... for a while.  When I entered the Beginner's Hall, the second time the controls froze.  Completely.  I keep losing my controls randomly.

Edit: NVM.  Going to put this in it's own topic since it's not related to the list directly.

Is there a reason all my mods say "released on 1/5/2016", even though I've clearly got the updated ones from July (I checked the version numbers)?  Some kind of bug in 7th Heaven?

34
Concerning character growth, I think 8, 10 and 12 are the most non-linear. 10 kinda depends whether you choose simple or advanced spheregrid. Simple = linear character growth as busywork.

North American FFX had simple Sphere Grid only.

Anyway, I absolutely loathed FFX.  As I said, it was the game that made me stop buying games in the series near release date.  I still rank Tidus one of the most obnoxious main characters ever written for a video game.

35
The last FF Sakaguchi really had any major influence over was 9, credited as producer and scenario. He was "only" executive producer on 8, 10 and 11.

You made my point for me.  8 is an absolutely awful game and 10 is the game that made me give up on the whole series ever getting better.  9 was the last Final Fantasy I truly enjoyed.

36
It's all opinion. Personally, the new graphics of FFV and FFVI don't bother me, though I kinda wish they looked more like FFIVCC on PSP.

37
Course not.. now they are a pure out and out business.  Whereas before they at least had some passion and care.

Passion and care went out the door with Sakaguchi.  There's a good reason X was the last game in the series I bought around the release date, and I flat-out refused to touch XIII or anything related to it, considering SE's blatant trolling to the FF7 fanbase (which has clearly failed).

Releases / Re: Improved and added unshaded characters
« on: 2014-01-10 03:24:47 »
They're not included in Bootleg 040. There is an older compilation that has an IRO version. You can also make your own IRO version using the 7th Heaven tool. It's not difficulty at all.

How do you tell where the files go?  I mean, I've created IRO's, but I don't know where all the different files are expected to appear in the mod folder.

40
They'd have to pay me to suffer through FFX again.

I'm wondering what Square Enix will do now that all "classic" FF games have been remade or enhanced for mobile (1-6).

Do you think we'll see FF7, 8 or 9 on mobile next?

I could have sworn the dev team doing the mobile games confirmed that the average Android device wouldn't have the space available for a mobile port of anything over 6.

I can't wait.  Been putting off a full playthrough of FF7 waiting for this to complete ;)

43
Would I be surprised if there were FF7-based Playstation 4 footage floating around?  No, considering they did it for the last few Playstation releases, specifically to play with fan's hopes.

I would bet it's based on a REALLY shitty photo of brushed metal, made worse by limited coloring.  That banding screams "limited palette".

There are hundreds believe it or not, including some entire scenes, 2 of which were accidentally missing and have been restored by me and Luksy.

The world map alone has a few dialogues and texts that never get seen (although this is intentional).

Not surprising.  Probably debug messages that were never removed from the final and such.

Bootstrap? LOL  :D

I would use the 7th Heaven tool to inject the IRO version. Search for it in the tools section and read about it. If you need help after that, let us know.

I was under the impression the unshaded models weren't in Bootstrap yet.  And AFAICS, the latest version of the unshaded models doesn't have an IRO version, unless I'm completely missing something.

I probably sound like an idiot, but how does one actually install the unshaded models?  I understand they're not included in Bootstrap, but I'm missing something (clearly) when it comes to using the tools.

Products of the Jenova process?

Um, last time I checked, SE officially said Final Fantasy Versus XIII was now Final Fantasy XV...

Graphical / Re: HQ Barret175
« on: 2013-09-18 01:00:56 »
Might just be the picture. It's shorter than a few others but it looks pretty well portioned in the game. He's still maybe a bit taller than Cloud, depending on which model your using. Or at least taller than his head lol, Cloud has tall spikes to his hair. Barrets legs just fit his body more in this model.

According to the original manual, Barrett should be about 6'5" (197 cm), and Cloud should be 5'8" (173 cm).  I have no idea if Cloud's height includes his hair, though.

Anyway, here's official height info, in case anyone cares (probably not, but...)

Cloud: 5'8"
Barret: 6'5"
Tifa: 5'6"
Aeris: 5'4"
Red XIII: 3'11"
Cid: 5'10"
Yuffie: 5'2"
Vincent: 6'0"
Cait Sith: 3'3" (though, really, who cares?)
Sephiroth: 6'1"
