ON VACATION
« on: 2001-08-24 03:34:00 »
I've been gone, My job let me go a while week early and had 3 weeks of paid vacation. As of late I've been an IRC whore hanging out on Japanese IRC servers and talking with the creater of  http://www.megatokyo.com" TARGET=_blank>Megatokyo  I've also decided to try and write a book. (As if my PSX doc wan't enough of one) I also start Japanese on the 2nd of this month. All I need now is a girlfriend and I'll be *totaly* gone (*cough* *cough* QHIMM *cough*)

^_^

Was that, I STARTED Japanese on the 2nd of this month, or I start Japanese on the 2nd of NEXT month? It'd be hard to start it on the 2nd of this month unless you're dabbling in time travel too  :D

I take it the point of this topic is you're back from "vacation" (=holiday) and we can pester you again?  :D

First, it's the 2 second of next month, not this month.

Second, I guess it's "on holiday" to you people who speak that *other* english ^_^ I'll be noseing around a bit more and offering my totaly off-topic candor.

In american if we call it going "on holiday" you sound like a pompous prude, as if going "on vacation" is somehow not good enough for you.

"On holiday" makes it sound like you're flying first class on some airliner from New York to some "flat" in London to have tea.

"On vacation" is you sittng at home and doing absolutly nothing productive. I my case, it was trying to figure out how to join Japanese IRC servers, downloading lots of p0rn, and trying to convince a good friend of mine to give me nakkid pictures of herself.

As you can see, I've been quite busy with many aspects of my "vacation" I shall be lurking.

Errr:

yes, and I'm also serious about telling my friend that giving me nude pictures of herself would totaly be in her best intrest.  That she should, no *MUST* give some over because if such an action to take place, all parties involved in such a trasaction would result in great benifits thoughout.

What... you mean like instead of Zebra its Zeeeeeeeeeeeebra. And instead of a burger its a quarterpounder.

99.99999% of their language is still English, therefore it will remain being called English and not American.

Just totaly out of topic here but what does everyone think of the Euro?

I think it's a nice idea, but the currency's far too weak at the moment for us Brit's to have a good reason to join.

I expect it'll happen eventually - certainly within my lifetime - and I'm ok with that.

What I'd really like is for us to FINALLY get rid of sodding cash, as in coins. It's soooo unnecessary ... at uni, I hardly ever needed to use cash; everything was on my university card or my Visa ... coins really annoy me now.

Does *my* English has any specialities (except those stupid words like 'specialities')?
Well, I'm speaking 'German English'...

Euro: I'm not really a fan of it...but I think it's got some advantages...

1) Many Countries will have 1 currency - no need to exchange those DMs...

2) Some of our german coins are 'limited editions' - there are only a few thousand pieces os some of them. I've got one of those coins - a 10 PF coin ('bout 5 american cents) from 1950 and 'J' (the location were it was made)

You can get upto 10.000 Euro for some of these coins... (Perhaps I'll get enough to buy myself a car, a PS2, diving equipment, a Kawasaki ZX-9R, a new comp, a new house... :) )

But there are also disadvantages:

1) It's weak.

2) The prices will rise. Every shop uses the change from DM to Euro to rise their prices...

But I think that once the Euro's 'online', it'll get 'standard'. Nobody will remember the good old DM...

But the question is, would the Euro still be weak if us Brits join it?

Oh I like russian english. They put so great hard accent on it.

Euro ? euro is fine. I hope for euro in some years, and then in complete earth uniting. Like one big state, and districts instead of old states.

Maybe in another life  :)

Oi, I'm not *totally* gone. On the other hand I'm definitely not *totally* here either  :)

So what's new? I moved to another town to attend university, which means my girlfriend is now 750 km away (sucks big-time). I still don't have much spare time though, because this uni is killing me with work... *coughs*

Result: Don't expect to see too much of me now either. I *am* working on a project on the precious spare time I still have left, but I won't release any details as of yet. But to prevent anyone's possible hopes from going up, it's not related to the FF7 remake in any way.

*once again dives down into nothingness*

It's either that, or he's developing a program that will run FF9 on the PC with all the powerful optimziations of the PC powerhouse.

Why use it when you can use an emulator? I know, but think of it as a PC version of the game, only using the FF9 PSX discs!

Nope. It has something to do with Cisco. I browsed into qhimm.3dstream.com using WS_FTP and found a Cisco folder with a 135 MB file in it.
