Maybe it's a good time to seek for help
« on: 2001-08-13 21:39:00 »
I was thinking that if we are gonna make a remake, we might as well make the best of it and seek alliances with other FF7 Fans out there.

I stumbled upon this site yesterday http://www.darkfire.f2s.com/" TARGET=_blank>http://www.darkfire.f2s.com/

Go for it. Duplicate efforts is BAAAAD.

Regarding that, if you ever need a RPG-tuned world engine you know where to turn. Well, in a year or so anyway.

(Hm, I'm the first no-admin-or-moderator here...)

Well, I think it's a good idea. I've had a look at those character files. I wonder how they got Sephiroth skinned. Hm, that's Milkshape (that's suspicious...). I just wanna know how they got the textures on them.

I guess that those guys are skilled, but it looks like we were more (and of course skilled, too)

I wonder if the maps were build manually or ripped...

Hey, what 'bout this: We should collect some ideas, and then one (or more) of our moderators should contact these guys in name of our whole Messageboard...

- Alhexx

- edit -
HEY, wait a second: I'm not sure 'bout the cloud or seph field model, but:
The Sephiroth Battle model isn't ripped - it's rebuild. I've compared it with the Seph extract from the Battle.lgp - the Hair doesn't match!

- edit 2 -
Just signed up for a account there, could be good, but my primary work will continue on this Board.

- edit 3 -
Okay, I've had a closer look at the screenshots - like Seph 3D said, the Sephiroth Field model is stolen!
As for the Seph Battle Model - it's not from FF7, it's modeled (I know I said that before)(Like Seph 3D has posted in the forum there - it's stolen, too)

As for the Messageboard there: There doesn't seem to be too many skilled guys. The project members are the only ones who are skilled there - but not in FF7 hacking. I guess they don't even know how to open a lgp file...

That map screenshot was from Quake 3, so I guess they could do a simple Quake 3 Mod...

I know I've dramatically changed my opinion, but we should take a closer look at those guys before trying to start a project with them.

- edit 4 -
Am I going to annoy anybody with these edits?

Okay: They want to make a FF7 based game - means NO Remake. They're using another engine, they're building (or stealing) maps and models for theis game - they don't extract them out of FF7.

So I'm not sure if these are the right guys for helping us with our remake.

I hope I'm not going against the opinion os SaiNt or anybody else here...

Intresting it seems they are..."borrowing" off of us.

I will stand by Qhimms. I'm sure Sephiroth 3d would be okay if they asked. But they way I understand it from there forum they just stole his model.

Gits. An allience would be intresting though. But it dosent look like they know half as much as we have dicovered.

Maybe I will register there. *evil cackle*...ahh...*walks off to get food*.

Well, with me and Seph 3D, they've got 16 members (means 14 w/o us both)

I'm not sure if we can get any interesting infos from them...

BTW: I've posted a link to my screenshot page there - I wonder if I will find my Tifa MS3D Model there soon...

That's why I asked you guys.
I want to watch them for a while.
We could end up with a best of both worlds.
We can provide them with information ripped from the original files.
They can provide us with their editing workforce.
However, I would suggest that Alhexx discusses with Sephiroth 3D first and we get Seph 3D to start doing edits for us first.

you want skilled modellers that make there own stuff, go to http://www.planetquake.com/ebg" TARGET=_blank>http://www.planetquake.com/ebg  im working on this with a bunch of other people, and were not just a ff7 moid for quake 3 were a final fantasy total conversion, that mean you play as characters from ff1 to ff10. includes summons magic and good skills. i make weapon models for ebg, but dont worry theyre 100% percent made by me, but i take referance pictures using ficedulas lgp editor. so a big thanks to him. our mod leaders are crystalmesh, a multitalented quake 3 model/skin superstar. and sol a mapper/coder/texture artist. i hope you like our site. it was made by crystalmesh.

Would your staff like to help us out or can we "borrow" the models?

SaiNt: Oh, okay...I think it's worthy to take a look at them...(and add some members to their messageboard   )

- Alhexx

Fice and others: Take a look at these model topics on the messageboard...the guys want to know how to extract the models out of FF7... I'm not sure, should I tell them 'bout our Forum or should we wait?

Well, me, Seph 3D and bigbadwulf are already registered there, so we can hold contact to them.

Oh, do you mean the Polycoiunt group? - No. I was talking 'bout the Jenova Reunion group...

What do you think, should we tell them 'bout our Messageboard, or should we keep it secret for a while?

I see no harm done by telling them about this board...besides me getting more mail with requests for the remake forum  :)
