Hi bro, you can change that awful blue letters by substituing in the hasm1map.csv it's filename by other as I do:

As you see, the blue font is iconsp_25, and you can replace it with iconsp_15, which is a black font. Queda mas molón :D

Honestly, I think the black font looks ugly on that background. Should be better a dark blue font, or the default font that Square Enix used.

I hope the project isn't dead. Last post from McIndus is from a long time ago.

I think this was asked before but I could not find an answer.

How can I swap the PC button prompts, B1 B2, etc.. to the PSX style ones, Circle Square, L1, R1 etc...

I see from the screenshots the PSX button textures exist, wondering how to replace or swap them in game.

The two models shown are 2 different levels of detail ( each one as specific mesh, UV coordinates and texture).

To use this texture mod, download the following file:

In Tonberry folder, change "objfile.csv" to "objmap.csv". I think Omzy ( creator of Tonberry mod) did a mistake when creating this file. In objmap.csv add the following lines:

I think should be possible to remove unused movie files.
So, if you use japan audio, can remove english movies, and if you use english audio you can remove japan movies. Probably, delete movie files isnt' a great idea for game stability, so we need some "dummy" empty files to replace real movie unused files.

Forse mi sbaglio, ma credo non sia necessario copiare tutte quelle righe scritte da Shunsq in hash1map.csv. Se guardate bene, ci sono molti codici identici che hanno di diverso solo la parte iniziale "iconit_". Però mettendo sempre iconit_13, immagino non sia necessario copiare varie volte lo stesso codice.
Esempio:
iconit_18   15507359577279299071
iconit_19   15507359577279299071
iconit_20   15507359577279299071

Come vedete, eccetto la parte iniziale, il resto è identico. Quindi se mettiamo sempre iconit_13, il codice possiamo scriverlo solo una volta.

English instructions:
1)Go into Final Fantasy 8 folder, open the "textures" folder that you've added when installing Tonberry and create a new folder called "iconit" inside the folder named "ic";
2)Copy the .png file that Shunsq uploaded on the forum into "iconit" folder and name it "iconit_13";
3)Open the "tonberry" folder, located in Final Fantasy 8 folder. Inside there is a file named "hash1map.csv". Open it with Notepad; *
4)Copy all the codes that Shunsq uploaded but edit them, changing all the "iconit_" numbers in 13, and adding a "," as separator between the title and the codes;
5)Save the file and the mod should work fine.

Italian instructions:
1)Nella cartella di Final Fantasy 8, apri la cartella "textures" che è stata creata lì installando Tonberry e crea una nuova cartella chiamandola "iconit" all'interno della sottocartella "ic";
2)Copia il file .png che Shunsq ha caricato sul forum nella cartella "iconit" e chiamalo "iconit_13";
3)Apri la cartella "tonberry", situata nella cartella di Final Fantasy 8. All'interno c'è un file chiamato "hash1map.csv". Aprilo con il Blocco Note. *
4)Copia tutti i codici che Shunsq ha caricato ma modificali, cambiando tutti i numeri finali di "iconit_" in 13, ed aggiungendo una "," per separare il titolo ed i codici;
5)Salva il file e la mod dovrebbe funzionare correttamente.

*The file "hash1map.csv" that i open inside "tonberry" folder is edited yet, so i show you that i modify an original copy of it that i've save on the desktop as backup.

Ok, thanks. The problem is that the Shunsq .png file is little wrong with "vibracioni" instead of correct italian "vibrazioni". Don't remember if it has other wrong parts.
Mcindus uploaded a correct version of that file, but it's all grey, without various colours like the Shunsq one.

I am adding the ability to have proper PS buttons for Reunion. Actual graphics.  But the easiest way to do this for any joypad (without graphics) is just use my text replacer program TextChange and change things like [SWITCH] to [Square] and so forth in batch, and then encode the text files using  ts.  It works a charm in no time.

Anyway, it will all be added as option PS joypad wise for Reunion.
Hi mate. Mcindus asked you how to avoid that the game uses B1, B2, B3.. button names.
Did you replied?
I just want to know how to do, because I hate to have these generic button names. Very annoying.

Funny thing, there are also L2 and R2 icons in the icon file, but the game doesn't recognize that buttons :D

Thanks, mate. Seems to be something else wrong, but it's in the game, not your fault or Shunsq.
ESTADO is spanish for italian word STATO. Maybe they didn't utilize it in the game, so left it unaltered.

PS: why are there Playstation icons if the game doesn't use it?
I'm getting mad to try how can change B1, B2...names.

If you put {x0527} in the text editor it will correctly show □ but it'll be automatically replaced with B1, B2... I was looking for more special characters and I've found some icons from the icon.tex; here's some examples:



Replacing a texture icon with the Playstation buttons is possible but non of this icons founded are unused. The icon.tex file countains 2 times the Playstation buttons but I coundn't get those. By the way, you can easily replaced all buttons using the ctrl+f command in Deling. All we need is to look for unused symbols or the extra PS buttons.

There is another problem. I prefer to have 360 button icons, because it's my pad and PC standard. I think it's a more polite work.
Anyway, I want to understand why game replaces PS buttons with B1, B2 and so on.

Hi all,
I've generated the hash codes for the italian version. As you can see sometimes there is one hash code for several palettes ; that's because the grayscale is the same for several palettes. For Tonberry we use only ONE texture with all the color variations. For example there will be 1 texture for both the blue icons, the red icons, the purple icons and the yellow icons. That's why for the french version i only have 1 texture.

To XxXManuXxX and other italian users: You can already use Seed Reborn if you add the lines below in the hash1map as explained on my previous post. The only difference is that you create a folder named "iconit" instead of "iconfr". Inside this folder paste your textures named "iconit_.."

Do you mean button names in the game's font?

You have to change the font, then use Deling to import it back.

Actually, I'm not sure if the PC button names are in the font or if they're just colored text. If they're colored text, you'll have to modify the field files with Deling (it's a massive undertaking. Don't do it).

It's very annoying to see in the game the button named B1, B2, ecc.

To RichterB:
The name of the texture, the hashcode, and the description are in different cells. You can skip the descriptions, they are only for information.

So I have to copy just "iconit_13   15435301983241371135" in the .csv file, right?

I would like to change button names in Final Fantasy 8, so to have 360 pad button names instead of generic B1, B2, B3, ecc.
There is a similar mod for FF7, but nothing about FF8

Hello guys. Is there any way to use Xbox 360 button icons instead of Playstation?
And to change generic and confusing button names in the game? So to have X, Y, A instead of B1, B2, B3, etc..?

For the second problem there is a simple and useful mod for Final Fantasy VII. I'd do it myself, but I'm not able.  :-\
