I've heard people say the same, I personally beleive everyhting you've just said Threesixty, but people say the speech left in the game would be the same should you have vincent, yuffie or any other char in your party at that point...IMO those littles things really DO point towards a resuraction sequence.
And on another note. That one feild file that was found, that was 3 screens high, with no walkmeshes on it...I've just remembered....could that not be the feild file for when sephhy is in the materia and cloud gives him the?

PSX uses Bin files and another filetype which i can't remember. Im 97% sure LGP are just PC filesystems.

Ive just copied the Battle>LGP file over and it still does it. Yet its fine in every other battle. Which is stragne, because doing it on my other older PC is fine....Im past that part now anyway, and im using yuffie normally...so god knows whats happened.

If there are fansubbed versions of an anime, I tend to go for those insted of the official released one because the ones done my the big companies ALWAYS cock it up somehow.
