There is no FF9 for PC.
If you wanna play it on your PC, you'll have to get the PSX version and use an emulator.

But it would be easier just buying a PS1....probably cheaper, too. If you add the hours of configuring and ePSXe searching, your going to do.

PSX is the abbreviation for the original Playstation.

You can surely Google for setting up FF9 in ePSXe.  Their site is www.epsxe.com and a good emulator site (with plug-ins, compatibility lists, and a good message board if you need help) is www.ngemu.com.

i beat IX with ePSXe and it was great, i think with all the tweaks it looks better on PC too but i haven't had much experience with the PSX v ersion.

But depending on your cpu you may hit a little performance snag here and there.

don't know...but if you don't mind the risk of spyware on your PC.... try it for youself.

And read the readme file that comes with it....the whole thing, before you start asking for help. That's what the readme was created for....

If you download off a original site ( www.epsxe.com or www.ngemu.com for that matter ) there is no chance for vir/tro. Although via Kaaza/eMule etc. downloading emulators is one of the worst ideas. Odds are 1:0 the file will be somehow contaminated.

I Downloaded some kind of driver-pack a year back or so, that came with pete's drivers and...well a lot of the common 3rd party drivers.....I can't remember them. And it added something like Gain on my PC. I'm pretty sure I got it on their main website at the time.

Mmmm hmmmm
Well having been using ePSXe and emulators since 2000 (IE when the first version of ePSXe came out) almost 4 years ago (and I used the original PSXemupro as well).. Please tell me about these risks?  I've never had any problems with them.  Even when I had a 3dfx card and was using just glide (it worked pretty well with that card) on a 300mhz P2 machine.
They've vastly improved too.  I regularly use them on my linux and my PC. So.. explain the risks.. do you have some personal experience or something?

Hi!

I've heard this one before! A lot of people get confused by it! Hehe! They get confused not knowing that usually a person discusses the Final Fantasy IX Piano Collections CD, abbreviated to PC. Hehe!

Your know soon your everyones gonna have to stop using "psx" for the abbreviation of the original playstation because i was at this site where it had some crap about them releasing a entertainment system (not for gaming) called "PSX". I bet its gonna start confusing some people.

I couldnt find the site i saw before..but this site has some info about it and also a picture.

The PSX...

Its a gaming/entertainment system produced by Sony that is so far failing in Japan, and has been pushed back to a 2005 release date in the U.S. It has DVR features, web browser or something. It has a list of features, plus its a PS2 also.

So, if you're the last person on Earth to buy a PS2, and you also happen to need an entertainment system also, its a good choice for you...

And if you're rich.

That PSX is FAKE.
To the l33t heads on the inernet the PSX will ALWAYS stand for PlayStation 1!!

And there's NO risk of SpyWare/Viruses from downloading Emulators, unless you download from a duff site, but that would be your own fault, wouldn't it?

slightly related - how good is FF9 compared to the others? i always wanted to play this since it came out awhile ago, cause it seemed like it had that original FF NES element but updated with fantastic graphics. how is the gameplay - is it like FF8? that's pretty much the only FF i did not like. also was FF9 ever released stateside, cause I've never seen it over here in any form.

i might try this emu to give it a shot, it would be like a dream come true playing this game.

well it's like ff5/ff6, where you can equip things on yourself that teach you various skills [this depends on a character], but you can't change character's class.

you can have 4 characters at the same time in a battle. it's pretty much like not-ff8 fantasies, where you have to amass tons of XP to get high levels. oh, and there are no attacks stronger than 9999 :/

no it's entirely different - no more arcade like combos [like in zell's limits]. no more 16x9999 combos [yup.i really love lionheart :D]. only two characters have summons now, and their animation can be short or long. character design is similar to ff7, and looks fairy-tale-ish :/. but there is still a card game :] [it's way different now, however]. oh bother, read some reviews for more! :D

ff9 looks awesome on openGL plugin in epsxe, but it might get sometimes sluggish on older video cards, that don't support framebuffer 'acrobatics' too well [like GF2 cards]
