It looks as if this Zack has eyes as well, I like..its too funny with Cait Sith gone, I just wish he had cloud's Limits.

oops forgot to state that yes he has eyes but his eyebrows are yellow so just imagine he bleached them but its not like you get a good enuf view to notice anyway

Can you have him take Cait Sith's place, and then have Cait Sith take Aerith's place after she dies? OR Zack take Aerith's place, etc....

hey Dziugo could you make it so that caitsith could use cloud limits it would kinda be handy so Zack becomes more useful in boss fights

Kuraudo you need to extract your battle.lpg with lpgtools copy these files into the folder you extract them to backup your battle.lpg then use lpgtools to create a new battle.lpg and place the new one in the folder marked battle

Well, the battle.lgp is 50mo or so.  So he just share the files needed to change the character that he want to change so he just have to upload 150 ko or so.  It take less time to download and to upload.

im working on making look more like the screens from crisis core/last order but i keep running into problems listing all the vertexes,polygons and the polygon edges

I'll try and make a quick guide on how to do this...

First off, you're going to want the patch itself. Download it and extract it somewhere where you can find it later! Put it in your Final Fantasy VII directory, if you want.

Next, download LGP Tools, if you don't already have it. Just copy and paste this link into your Internet browser (obtained from the compilation programs thread):

Put that somewhere you'll be able to find it later, as well. When you do that, go into your C:\Program Files\Final Fantasy VII\data\battle\ folder. That directory is assuming that that is where you installed Final Fantasy VII; it could be different, mine's different, but the majority of people I've seen have installed this game to that directory. So make sure that whenever I say C:\Program Files\Final Fantasy VII\ etc., you go to wherever you installed Final Fantasy VII! You'll see battle.lgp once you get to the battle folder. Copy and paste this somewhere else!! If this mod blows up on you, then you won't have an original battle.lgp to go with. So copy and paste this somewhere safe.

Open up LGP Tools. Click "File" and click "Open LGP." At the top, you'll see something that says "Look in:" and it'll have a listing of folders. Find your \Final Fantasy VII\data\battle directory, and find your battle.lgp (the one you did not copy and paste!). Don't click it yet, though. Right-click anywhere within the \Final Fantasy VII\data\battle and press "New" and then "Folder." Name the folder "battle2."

Okay, now double click on your battle.lgp. Give LGP Tools a minute or two. When it's done, look on the above toolbar for LGP Tools, and click Extr. All. Point LGP Tools to your C:\Program Files\Final Fantasy VII\data\battle\battle2\ folder. Press okay. LGP Tools will sit there for another minute or two, let it finish. All right, that finishes. Next, find where you extracted the Zack mod. Inside the folder where you extracted it, you'll find a whole bunch of goofy files that probably have no meaning to you. Drag your mouse pointer over ALL of them and click copy on any of the files. Return to your C:\Program Files\Final Fantasy VII\data\battle\battle2 folder and paste them. Let it overwrite all of your preexisting files.

Return to LGP Tools. Click "File" and click "Create new." Go past the warning. Point LGP Tools to here C:\Program Files\Final Fantasy VII\data\battle\battle2\. It'll ask you to name your file. Name it "battle.lgp" without the quotations. It'll overwrite your old file. Now you're done! Play Final Fantasy VII like you would, put Cait Sith in your party, and Zack will be there.

...All is not good, though. Currently, the mod is in it's beginning stages and thus, Zack looks pretty weird. I don't recommend you download this mod yet.

To the topic creator...Zack's animations do look weird. What happens if you give him Cloud's animation files?

At first, I had Zack upside down and bouncing on his head, but I switched the animations and it works now.

Is there any way to change the sound affect though, so that when Zack slashes it sounds like Clouds?

Dzuigo is quite familliar with that area, he can even probably make a copy of all of clouds data ( exept the model ) and make Zack a clone of Clouds data

Personally, I think a character that is optional ( Yuffie and Vincent ) should be replaved, and Im sure 99% would say bye-bye to yuffie for this

If we make it where Zack replaces Yuffie, all we have to do is change the Default setting for changing Yuffi's name to Zack, so when you encounter, its Zack, NOT Yuffie!

But then you'd have the possibility of Cloud going out on a date with Zack and having Zack play the role of a "princess" in the play (assuming the field model is also changed). Sure, replacing Cait Sith with Zack means that Zack is a robot, but that isn't so bad.., right?

You might be going out there a little bit by saying people would rather have Yuffie be Zack's replacement.

Cait Sith is probably the best for it. This is because nearly NO ONE uses him, and his Limit Breaks suck.

I hafta agree with zero here...  My fiance likes to watch me use Yuffie in my party, 'cause she says she's cute.  While she likes Cait Sith too ("Kitty!"), he's far less useful than Yuffie.

Good luck with this project.  It'd be awesome to have Zack fighting alongside Cloud.

im currently in research and test mode so it could take a lil longer then expected you see changing clouds model was easy because its a simple replace of a single file changing cait sith requires changeing which animations are called so it appear to fit plus theres like 700 files i have to change for this to work properly

It's probably easier to go ultima espio's method and replace the animation files in char.lgp. (They have a .a extension.) It's not like anyone else in the game shares Cait Sith's animations, right?

So you want to replace a party member with Zach eh?

Replacing Aeris with Zack is the most logical for me. After she kicks the bucket of course.

Is there a way you could do that? Make it so Zack joins the crew after Aeris dies?

He could easily fill in the space left by her, and you don't have to kick any of the other chars. (Even though we all know Cait deserves it, I guess maybe three people use him.)

As for having him replace Yuffie, I'd vote against that myself. I tend to make her into an Aeris that can attack with a couple magic sources. (I mean, come on! Load her down with materia, set her in the back row, and even if you use all her mp she can attack for more damage then Aeris ever could.)

If you do that, and you have Zack in your party.
The game would freeze durring cutscenes seeing as she has no lines, and we would all have to use the
Aeris in Disc 2-3 FAQ at gamefaqs.

And I don't wanna do that. So just replace the stupid cat >_>

Heh, I suppose I'll go with Knives then. The only two good things about Cait is his high HP and his instant win limit break. One can be solved with an HP plus materia and the other rarely happens, and never when you need it to.

to all the people looking for zack mod i suggest you look elsewhere because i had a computer explosion leaving me with a nasty repair bill i even lost my new zack mod tis a shame realy considering i was about to release it

my new pc should be up in a couple of days and ill be starting from the beginning again so hopefully it shouldn't take more then a couple of weeks for me to have a releasable version depending on other commitments cause theres alot of work to be done

I'm gonna be making 2 versions one with all there Zack and the other will be a surprise and by the time there finished there gonna have some new animations 2 if all goes well

but it looked perty cool when it exploded but i really shouldn't of let my mates into my explosives chest

i don't anymore my mates saw to that but i will need a new one cause in about 3 months i gotta start demolition work again gee its fun but enough of my pc and more about the mod

so what do i have to do
make new model of zack  :cry:
add some speach bubbles for aerith to stop some crashes
restart and finish a program im working on
swap some animations around

You know the battle has a hi-res cloud and a normal cloud. You can use hex editor and replace cait sith.data with HICLOUD.DATA and replace the hi-res cloud with zack.
