is it there outside of r06.  if it is... wrong thread.
it's a field bug (or ff7 engine bug or wathever): it appears with new translation (english) on and off (40 times selected no and appeared, yesterday i don't remeber)....

this is a weird bug that appears in blin63_1: in the "doors minigame" if you continue to select Better not when asked to open a door sometimes the same question text will popup again and again without having pressed action button on the door. I really can't understand how this bug is triggered (for a test i've pressed better again more than 20 times)

x264 works for me with AAC.  Whatever youve used to encode has set something ffmpeg doesnt like.

I've investigated after a doubt came to me and checked ending2.avi (in italian) by renaming in eidoslogo.avi (it's a raw test) and also this video has a problem (the original english renamed eidoslogo play perfectly). I need to test in real game ending but i'm not very confident... this 2 video have the same problem

Now i need your help for a technical question: with my italian port i can't play jenova_e movie (english play perfectly).. shows the first frame and than the movie is skipped and the game continue. Any suggestion? maybe movie lenght?

In my project they've reported me this glitch in mds5_5. I've tested with original english R06c and it is present as well
Here it is a screen



how to reproduce:
- exit shinra building
- complete motorbike minigame
- deafeat robot boss
- complete dialogue on the "bridge"
- after that they reach mds5_5
- speak to the character in this order: red, tifa (the choice doesn't matter), aertih (the choice doesn't matter) and barret (choose option 2 "Well...")
- speak again to barrett (this will trigger again aerith text)*
- when aertih text box is still present go down at the exit of the field and the glitch will appear

*By the way is it right that every time you speak to barrett it is triggered aerith text?

That comes out of Kernel2 and needs changing via wallmarket or touphscript.  The one in the exe is for a different place.
But in my kernel2 there isn't the word "to next level". In the R06 kernel2 i've found only "next level" (line 1631) and in italian is translated. Using hext and changing 00920C48 and 00922A50 fix the problem

I forgot this part.  The function hasn't been taken over for the external exe txt file.  I'll have to sort it.

ok, I think I've found another problem with text from exe.txt not being readed properly: in materia menu or shop sell materia the word under the materia stars is set to "to next level", despite I've changed it (line 394 and 559 in exe.txt). Here it is a screen with italian modification (with english word). Since this is a not english problem i don't know if it is secondary... for now with hext I can make a workaround (like with default character name I've already reported)

The "Corsa dei Ch   bo" texture issue: dunno why that would be in the Reunion database.
Maybe for future translation purpose other than english or simply to let people know the problem with non english file

The reason for that issue is quite simple: The SadNes used the spanish version of the game as basis for their italian translations.
So the x/y/width/height info for grabbing that piece of texture and placing it on the screen doesn't match since we're now using the english exe with textures meant to work with the spanish one.
So... all I did was open the spanish exe, find where that info is stored and copy paste it into the english one.
I didn't even look at which byte does what, it worked like a charm right away. Easy peasy.
I know the spanish sadnes ff7.exe. Unfortunally I'm not very skilled to understand what address has this file (i need a start point :cry:)

Also make sure to link to my thread and Reunion Database - and add full credits (for flevel fixes and so on) and what not. Other than that, I'll be adding to R06 soon to sort texture issue, hext issue, and people.bin

I'm creating full people.bin support for R06d but if you want to add it to ts for non R06 then that's cool too.  We could work on format together too so both are same?


An aside... I am not sure it's a good idea to overwrite BASE folder.  But I guess with completely different translations, that's an exception and I should probably encourage it for that purpose.  My installer will always delete BASE folder though, so mods will need to be placed back afterwards.  Should be noted that anything that changes from this point will need to be revised in your release.  It's not clear what things will stay the same or change with future revisions format wise.  I certainly think the current BASE folder format is more or less complete.  Also note that my flevel makes a LOT of fixes and is definitely not complete.  I'd suggest waiting until a lot further in the future before making use of my flevel - if you are using it.
Yes, I'm using your flevel and I know that is still in improvement process and that I need to do some change after every release, but this is a start to understand R06 change and let people play it in italian.
As the BASE folder... I've installed/reinstalled ff7 and r06 several time and always copied  the folder new translation temporarily in global folder. I am used to...
for now the only problem found are some problem with choice box (only with italian version), some box dimension (need to know memory addresses) and chocobo race texture chopped (problem already present in your database)

Metterò su la nuova fix per touphScript a breve, è la stessa versione usata in R06c. Cercherò di sistemare anche eventuali problemi di compatibilità con il tuo progetto se si presentano. Tra l'altro sarebbe una buona opportunità per aggiungere supporto per people.bin se possibile.

Grazie, sto usando proprio quella di R06. Per ora ho un problema con i box quando è presente una scelta (choice): mi ne sono accorto in fship_25 (text 9) ma temo anche in altri che se non usavo lo stesso numero di righe della versione inglese la manina restava completamente buggata.

BTW the sex symbol is not mandatory if you want to translate "Male" and "Female" for chocobos.
I know that trying to translate those words directly is a nightmare so i splitted the dialogues. If the game writes "Male" in the variable slot, i made it use a dialogue box with "Maschio" hardcoded in place of the variable slot, if it wrote "Female" it uses a different dialogue with hardcoded "Femmina"

I need help in R06 for update my italian port: how to increase the dimension of box (and space between column) in battle command menu and materia->check menu. for now i've only found how to increase box and spacing in status menu.
I need at least 7 characters space (better 9).
What part of memory should change? i've tried "battle width 0091e7fc" but not working

    Stating with R06i the translation text are now external .txt files. Opening <your ff7 install folder>\FINAL FANTASY VII\The_Reunion\options.ini you can now choose specifics modifiers that will change the translation on the fly (not all are used in italian translation) and enable by changing n to y . Here a list:
    • Pre : empty folder in <your ff7 install folder>\FINAL FANTASY VII\The_Reunion\BASE\New_Translation\text\Modify\Pre .Put inside a txt with modification and it will be read as the first one, before the entry below.
    • American_English : enable this modifier only if you select New_Translation = 2, this will enable Fahrenheit degree and text °F (instead of °C)
    • Imperial : enable this modifier if you want to change some text from meters to feet
    • Series_Canon : not used
    • Place_Canon : not used
    • Name_Canon : not used
    • Swap_XO : enable controller icons swap O to X controller icons (jap layout to western layout). Only enable one between Swap_XO  and Controller, otherwise Controller will win as the latest

    This quest, created by Néo-Midgar - French Retranslation Team and with little modification by me (in var), starts in Gongaga. If you have started a new game with my porting mod there shouldn't be any problem, but if you already have started the game with original Caledor release or english R06 and passed at least one of these point (spoiler) the quest will be broken:
    - already obtained titan materia
    - already asked to Cid for the airship in rocket town
    - already obtained typhon materia

    In order to avoid progression bug, I've created a debug function in Kalm Town by installing this field file or in <your ff7 install folder>\FINAL FANTASY VII\The_Reunion\GLOBAL or in <your ff7 install folder>\FINAL FANTASY VII\The_Reunion\CUSTOM\<your folder name>. In the house where the quest requires you to visit (on the second floor of the house with a dog and an old man), eep pressed L1/pag. UP and speak to the woman, a dialog will pop up with the description "Letter Quest Var Helper": select only one choice that you've already passed (they are in chronological order for the quest) and go on with the quest. If you have already progressed at the end of the game with other mod, go to gongaga and start the quest, go to kalm and select the first option, go on with the quest until you stop at the second progression, return to kalm and select the second option, and go on until you stop at the third progression (but now you know what to do)... Never select all the choice at the same time, progress in the quest first. Remeber to delete the field file and the text file after you finished.

    Maybe you should've asked before posting, but i'm totally cool with it (dunno if there's someone else you should ask though).

    After all i've been the one saying that people should just grab the flevel and put it in whatever framework allows modding if they were ok with the compromise. This is not that different.

    Just one thing: make your own post for it cause i won't be able to help polishing this port.

    In teoria il senso delle frasi è più o meno lo stesso, non dovrebbero esserci grandi stravolgimenti, sono state tolte diverse battute di alcuni personaggi ed aggiunto qualcosina come oggetti o singole battute

    e nello scene.bin solo per 4-5 righe (tutti versi Kuèèè dei chocobo mancanti)

    Le texture da tradurre dovrebbero essere le stesse, solo rese modulari e non più necessario ricompilarle nell'lgp
    l'exe non è più necessario ricompilarlo, la traduzione è su un file txt (con la R06 però lo spazio disponibile nelle dimensioni dei menu è ridotto all'osso, occorre abbreviare il più possibile)
