Archive / FF7 PSFs in FF7 Pc?
« on: 2003-03-15 16:36:48 »
I WOULD contribute to the uber-fication of FF7 Music, but remember, the DLS that runs my WDM device is all funky.

In any case Sam's FF8 DLS makes FF7 sound darm nice :D

Hi, popping back in, I still say enhanced MIDI for FF7 is the way to go. The PSF's sound terrible, and a testament to how much the PSX sucked for music until they figured out how to do it like an SNES.

FF7 MIDI sounds much better than the original PSFs, sadly. With perhaps the exception of one or two tracks.

FF8, on the other hand...

Nice, speedy!

Hojo IS Sephiroth's Dad, thus the similarities. Lucrecia and Vincent both explain to you during the course of the game that Lucrecia was seduced by Hojo. Hojo is THAT evil, he experimented on his own son. He injected Jenova cells into Lucrecia and then the fetal Sephiroth while he was still in the womb. Plus, he went through Mako-radiation treatments while he was a young child.

General Discussion / Question about FF9 saving on PS2

Trust me, an ePSXe plays PSX games better than the PS2 does.

I'm too lazy to do so, but I know Cloud said so when he told everyone the whole story on the Highwind.

Anyway, If Zack isn't the sick guy, then who is? He's obviously following them around...

134
I take the "Watch Out!" Part as Being Zack. Yes, Zack is still alive. I have -very- good reason to believe he's the sick guy in the tube at Midgar. Why? Because you encounter a Sick guy who looks -exactly like- the one in the tube at Rocket City. He's stuck in the bathroom at the inn, I think. Therefore he's trying to run around helping the team out, following them, forcefully using the Jenova inside of him as some sort of compass. Remember, Cloud absorbed a good bit of Zack during thier whole "experience", so it's reasonable to assume either he's telepathically communicating with Cloud, or that it's the part of Zack inside his mind that's talking to him.

General Discussion / FF10 for PC...or not?

Lol.

Square's Merger is proof they want to escape Sony's clutches. By doing so, they aren't violating any of thier contracts, as well as voiding the ones they currently have with Sony at the same time!

I'm almost certain "financial reasons" are a half-excuse. The only financial reasons I can see it Sony is leeching the life from them, and they're killing themselves developing for only one platform.

I did my uber-extensive testing, and I told you some of my results on AIM already. However, there were too many muted instruments to be conclusive. It sounds good though.

Prolly just giving in to the fans :p

Hmm, I wonder if DX9 can add true-hardware level DLS to my system?

141
Good news, I may be getting some excellent drum samples soon. My old Physics teacher has a wicked home-made drum set that he does_not_move. I may be getting some samples from it.

Nono, you want an Interact Axispad. Perfect PC controller for that kind of thing.

Stay away from the Axispad FX, though. It's drivers are anything but mature.

 TI-83. Better than my early DOS BASIC or my TRS-80 beep-tone generation!

Ok, extra programmer will be added to roster.

My disadvantage is, I can't actually Draw!

145
Well, you should be able to tell by eye. Just turn up all the pretties and see how much/little your screen tearing gets. I get that with alot of DX7 stuff on my Geforce2 Pro...I can run at any resolution with Max FSAA minimum LOD bias maximum anisotropy forced and still get like 100 FPS. Of course that's just a visual guess.

146
...Perhaps the Voodoo architecture is used in the GeFX, and since it's one of the technologies that goes with DX9, you naturally have some form of advantage.
...Just a guess *shrug*

...PLAY SOME DX7 GAMES AND TELL US WHAT YOU GET :D:D:D

147
Ah. alright.
Nope, I have Awave full. It just keeps crashing...I usueally have to hope and pray it won't corrupt my work on it.

148
I wouldn't know. I abandoned the M$ GS Synth long ago for the MS DLS Synth.

I think the GS synth really relies on the .idf file. Anyone know exactly what it does?

149
You wouldn't happen to know why Awave keeps crashing on me, would you? This is getting annoying...

150
Gee, it says 7.34 megs on the download...*test*
