If they mess up with the audio i'm gonna be pissed... While i did love the new updated graphics on the PS3 version of Final Fantasy X, their "remastered" audio was simply distasteful... Lets hope 9 won't go down the same path and IF it does, let's hope there's at least an option to switch  between "original" and "remastered".

If you're ever wondering why we end up with crap politicians and really lousy countries, look no further than Ric.  He's a classic example of "I agree with your right to free speech as long as you don't say something I disagree with".

No, not at all. The right to free speech is the best thing you, I and alot of people have. However coming on a forum that's supposed to be about videogames and fun in general and claim you wish someone gets assassinated... That's just offensive and it's out of place.

He's also butt hurt because I didn't like the new Star Wars :P

I never saw any of the Star Wars movies in my life... And i'm not interested in doing so. As usual, you missed the point on the other topic just like you're missing the point on this one cause you were too busy puking your thoughts and ideals on everyone's face.

We shouldn't tolerate intolerance

Woah, wise words. Get my point yet?

The issue was never your opinion... Did anyone call you out and tell you "fern you for thinking that?" No, no one did. The issue was simply that this isn't the right place to spread hate, especially in regards to someone being killed. There's a time and place for everything and this just wasn't the right place.

People often mistake their right to free speech with "I can say whatever i want, wherever i want, whenever i please and screw whoever gets offended" and you're the perfect example of that.

That's not an argument, it's just baiting.  Please leave this discussion for the adults :)

*yawn*
Are you done?

No, apparently you're not, since you went back and wrote a wall of text explaining how it should be ok to share your toxic views on how you wish someone was murdered in a forum that has absolutely nothing to do with such stuff.

And if it is, I'll just not bother posting in this section because I sure as hell am not going to be told what to think.

That's the best thing that could happen to this forum considering how your posts consist of hateful, spiteful and intolerant posts towards others and their opinions.

ps: forum karma is serious business  ;D

So it's really about whether you agree with it or not.  Ok.  Gotcha.

Pretty sure the post you quoted explains exactly what it is and isn't about. Not that your limited brain could accept it, after all, it doesn't match your views and therefor it's irrelevant to you.  Sad.

Unfortunately, the powers that be on this forum (actually one moderator in particular, I'd wager) think that wishing someone was dead is illegal - it most certainly is not.  It is illegal to incite murder, or say you yourself are going to commit a crime, but not to say you'll be happy if something does happen to a person (in this case, a particular politician).  How many posts around the net expressed a wish that Saddam or Bin Laden would die?  I bet I can find you a post from this very site. We've descended around these parts into telling people what to think and moderating based on a flimsy understanding of law. If you want that to be the case, at least place it in the rules.  The edited piece from above was not illegal in the slightest, and editing it is just stupid.

@vgr, editing and moderating for the sake of boredom is not the job description.  If the mods around here want to conjure up some special rules, I'll be fine obeying them.  But nothing I wrote above was against rules or illegal.

How about common sense? It's not about being legal or illegal, it's more about the fact that this surely isn't the appropriate place for such pathetic hate comments. People come here for fun, to look for gaming mods and to discuss Final Fantasy games (and other stuff in general). You spill whatever diarrhea your brain can come out with regardless if it offends or bothers anyone else here, you show no respect towards anyone or anything that doesn't match your own views and you are shocked that a moderator would delete a phrase where you wish death upon someone. You're a sad, grumpy and toxic being.

Most of you have probably already seen this but for those who haven't, seems like this is gonna be the new menu interface:

Looks quite cool to be honest and it looks like it can easily work for both PC and Phone versions of the game, Eiko's avatar looks so much better than the original, love it.

183
Apart from the end boss... who literally comes out of nowhere like FF8's.

Final Fantasy 8's Ultimecia shows up and is referenced all way from the middle of the first CD (possessing Edea but still) to the end of the game... She doesn't pop out of nowhere.

184
Finally...  Graphics look AWESOME. Can't wait.

185
Awesome news. I wonder if we will be able to apply whatever mods come to the steam version to the Android one.. That would be sick

186
That would just make you poorly informed and a liar, and based on the number of facts you got explicitly wrong about the film, such a lie would become immediately obvious. I suppose that's a good move if you're trying to lose people's respect.

All you're doing here is pooping in the punch bowl. Is it not enough not to enjoy it, you have to ruin it for everyone else who might have enjoyed it too? Angry, poorly informed complaints won't stop anybody from seeing the film, they won't prevent more from being made. Literally the only thing your ranting could possibly achieve is to make people less happy, and I sincerely hope that's not your intent. Heck, the constant obsession with things you don't like can't possibly make you feel better either. At best, you'll share mutual dislike of something with someone else, but there's no joy in that, only salt.

As I said, you're well within your rights not to see it, or even to watch it and not to like it, but if you're not going to see it, then say you're not going to see it and move on like a normal, decent person instead of maintaining an unnecessary and unproductive hostility.

You are 100% right in everything you wrote, however, it's a battle you cannot and will not win.
"Common sense is not so common."

Well, I disagree, Ric.  "Really." People who like atrocious music are akin to those who think random smatterings of paint on walls is talented or "art".  They try to come up with some pseudo-intellectual argument also.  But the truth is it just sucks and so do they.

Again, atrocious to you does not mean atrocious to other people. You obviously have an issue with anything that doesn't suit your own personal taste or beliefs so whatever, why do i even bother.

But it's my opinion and, well, that's that.  If that makes me an ass or arrogant or any other label you wish to use - cool

And you're 100% entitled to it. However you could just either try to express it in a not-so-negative way or simply not express it all because in the end of the day, people who enjoyed the movie will not care about your opinion, just like people who listen to Justin Bieber will not care about your opinion.
How about respecting the fact that people are entitled to enjoy whatever it is that they enjoy? Be it music, movies, or videogames regardless if you think they are good or not?
Your opinions don't make you an ass or even arrogant, the way you express them shows a complete lack of respect towards anyone who might have different views than you though.

But the truth is it just sucks and so do they.

With that being said, so do you.

188
It is objectively wrong to think he's a brilliant songwriter because he doesn't even write most of his own music. He gets it all from the studio, and just performs it.

He actually is a remarkably talented singer, and I think it's a shame he wastes it on the music he sings.

True, but that does not give anyone the right to call his fans "silly" just for... well, being his fans.  Or being fans of any other artist for that matter.

189
I disagree.  I think they're actually laughing at people who fall for it as they roll around with their money ;)

Who cares. It's like everything else in life, some will love it, some will find it "ok" and some will hate it.
There is no pleasing everyone, ever. What's the big deal about it?
Oh and i totally missed this:

But there are thousands of people out there who think Bieber is a genius.  What does that tell me?  We have an awful lot of silly people about.  But I am not one of 'em :)

Really?  People are "silly" for having a musical taste different than yours? I'm a HUGE Heavy Metal & Rock fan and cannot stand the mainstream music nowadays but to go as far as saying "We have an awful lot of silly people" based on their musical taste and then claiming you are not one just because that's not your type of music... Sorry but, you're the one being silly.

I know that no matter what those two release, I won't like it.  I consider them intellectually bankrupt (thick as turd) and there's no chance I would ever be optimistic based on a number of factors.  The same goes for these cash-in sequels.

I can only assume their reaction would be something like:

No, seriously, who cares?

Truth be told...  If space limitation is really the issue they could just do the same thing they did 20 years ago, 1 release with more than 1 disk inside of it. Anyway, we shall wait and see how it all turns out.
I have a feeling they might take the FF13 saga approach though, a storyline divided across 3 games but all of which can make the average gamer spend anywhere from 30 to 80 hours in it.

192
This port is the best working one so far. FF13 & FF13-2 are a MESS and run like crap even on good specs but Lightning Returns seems to keep a constant 60 FPS even on a 3 year old pc. (with the occasional drop  to 40-50 when there's ALOT of stuff going on, but hey, old pc so)
Very nice port, smooth and 0 issues so far. I hope all the future Final Fantasy ports to steam get the same treatment.

I would literally rather they toss the SNES or GBA version into an emulator. This port was trash on mobile, and it's even worse on PC because it's got an ill-fitting mobile UI.

Same, i actually played the Android version... Just no. The UI is TERRIBLE even on a phone. I could live with the graphics but that UI in general... Nasty..

Ditto. Also ugh, those graphics look bad. Not as bad as the FFIV port, but still bad. If the port is pretty solid, I would probably get it, but if it ends up like the mess that was FFV, I'm having none of it.

It's way worse in my opinion, i recommend you watch some walkthrough or reviews before spending money cause it is an abomination.

a. Wasting money on the same product is stupid. And I don't like stupid.
b. In this case, it impacts ME - because by doing this I never get to see NEW content or well designed content (nor do you - as mentioned previously, the MAIN FF game releases are WAY down).  I get mindless content, like this disease of a remake, which is already all over the place and being split into parts. This is a direct result of there not being more people like me - People who speak out against what is going on in this piddly ass little games industry.  If people wasted their money and it didn't impact on me in any way - it would still annoy me.  But I wouldn't feel the need to whinge about it. I'd just weep for humanity, which is what I do quite often.  But no.  As I said, this current mindset is reinforcing Square's belief (and it's a correct belief) that they can get away with whatever they want, and do whatever they want.

So, you are right and everyone else is wrong. Screw the people who want to buy the remakes and have fun playing them just because you don't.
You seem to have a belief that Square Enix should cater to your needs and opinion somehow and if they don't, they are complete idiots who have no clue what they are doing... Well... the Final Fantasy 7 remake will blow up and sell like hot cakes whether you want it to or not and that will just once again prove that your opinion is just that, an opinion, and that your needs are just YOUR needs.
Just get over it. As its been said before countless times, don't like a product? Don't buy it. Just spare us the verbal (in this case written) diarrhea of how everyone else is stupid for using their money however they want to and buying stuff that actually provides them entertainment. I'm done arguing about this, it feels like arguing with a religious person and there's just no way to win against that.

No, they don't.  But that's not answering the question.  They were hardly released in 1996.  It's just a cash grab.  I don't speak for people who think buying games again and again and again is a cool thing; I speak for what I see as plain sanity.

Where does this end?  Do you have a limit on when you say "enough is enough" or do you just continually buy the same game ported or arranged slightly a ton of times?  I fail to see the logic of that. Is there a limit?  At what point are people just going to stop feeding a company that is clearly laughing in their faces?

I don't really get what your problem with that is, people can waste their money on whatever they feel like. My personal limit is quite simple, when i don't feel like replaying a certain game on a new platform... i don't buy it. Simple. That doesn't mean someone else will feel the same way as me, someone might want to re-play the game on that new platform, someone might not have the console it was released on and might want to play the game. Is it really such a terrible thing to have the option? You are not forced to buy them and "feed" the company.

Again, your needs do not represent the needs of every fan. Just cause you don't enjoy remakes/re-released doesn't mean they shouldn't exist. They are selling so obviously there is a market for them.

why on Earth would we need the spin offs re-releasing?

Why not? Crisis Core is actually a pretty fun and solid game and its gameplay style would fit the whole "1080p uber graphics" perfectly. Your needs do not represent the needs of every single Final Fantasy 7 fan.

While I'm trying to remain neutral on the remake(even though there are parts of the trailer that irked me), not sure how I feel about this statement. I could be reading/understanding it wrong, but it feels like, to me, it's going an episodic route? I doubt they'd sell the game in pieces(or rather I dislike that method), but knowing SE I wouldn't put it past them. But like I said, I could be reading it wrong.

http://press.na.square-enix.com/releases/586/final-fantasy-vii-remake-showcased-at-playstation-experience

It most likely means that games like Crisis Core might also get remade in order to have the "whole storyline".
I doubt they would split up the game into parts... They could also be considering some DLC extras.

Is it just me or does Wedge sound like Bugs Bunny after a decade of heroin abuse?

Also about Barret, the sunglasses are definitely new but they do add to his "badass" look, looks nice overall.

198
You guys are too stuck in the past and on the hatred for change when it might just be be a good experience.
I personally think that there is ALOT of potential for the remake to be great even if it drifts away from the original. But hey, the original still exists and people who love it can always replay it. I'm excited to see what they can do with things like: minigames, Gold Saucer (can you imagine if they manage to pull some enemies like Gilgamesh and such from other FF games? Like at the Coliseum on FF13-2? It opens up alot of possibilities for extra superbosses), CGI FMV's which if done right will be beautiful, a better explanation of Cloud, Tifa and Sephiroth's past using the Crisis Core stuff... The possibilities are endless. Now it's obvious that it has to be done properly for it to work out well but my point is, different doesn't necessarily mean bad. We'll have to wait and see what they pull out.

Damn! I just picked up the game from my pile and decided to give it another playthrough and i can't install it because of windows 10... has anyone figured out any workaround?
