Team Avalanche / Re: New Project: Bombing Mission!

This:

Can we fix this?  To be completely honest it looks ridiculous and I don't think the original had teeny biceps/elbows.

EDIT:  Okay so upon review of the original model I see I was wrong, but I still don't like that.  Personal taste I'll just deal.  On a more professional note great work scaling, looks great.  Will blinking work?

When I look at those pictures suddenly all is right in the world

I can't believe it's already at this point already!  Since Millenia's on board have all of his weapons been ported into the right format?  I remember the majority of Cloud's weapons modeled and textured and a good amount of Vincent's but were any of Barret's arm cannons done?

Yes but with all this amazing work and results all coming so fast it's hard to be pessimistic!

EDIT:  Relative to post below me but not to thread:

Also we have mirror amounts of posts (304-403)

I'm not familiar with animation work but I was under the impression that in order to render a scene you have to write a script for the camera etc.

82
Well my link...

I think it'd be an awful shame and waste to not take this beautiful half finished project and use it (when it'd finalized) in a rendered script identical to that of the opening movie.
Would.
Look.
So.
Sick.

Plus make the perfect opening to this project.
Of course redux on all fmvs is a huge huge huge project that no one has even looked at or talked about.

83
Do we have any good scriptor writers or cinematographers? lol  ;D
click

Also the remastered OST isn't looped or clipped properly so when using it with FFVII you'll notice the music has gaps between loops.  I asked the guy who made the remastered and he said I could distribute it (taking no credit obv).  I think this fits in pretty well with the project but you'd have to talk to the guys who did ff7music and it really seems like something that would fit in with aali's driver more idk.

OH MY JESUS
MIDGAR!

Hmm I agree
though I am dumbfounded with your incredible ability the stone and numbers don't look at all like the originals.  The skybox is perfect and can be tweaked and midgar can be thrown in there eventually.

This is so cool confusing!

Shouldn't there be an underscore between the "l" and the "07"?

Team Avalanche / Re: Minimizing lag
« on: 2010-06-11 03:15:14 »
This is true.  I remember I tried someone's release of retextures on 3 battle scenes and the game hung up or took minutes to work when starting a new game.  I think an update to the driver and caching helped this but still 3 battle scenes is nothing in comparison to the entire bombing mission.

Team Avalanche / Re: Minimizing lag

Well everything in the textures folder could be cached and that's only up to 180 megabytes on my install.  That would eliminate all lag waiting for the world map and  battles.  Also it doesn't seem like it would add more than a few seconds to startup.

Team Avalanche / Re: New Battle Backgrounds!!!
« on: 2010-06-10 00:46:46 »
It looks like the problem is that it looks GREAT from the top down view but most of the time the battle is watched from an edge-on, side view.
So find (or make) a texture that is similar to the original, isn't complicated, and looks really good from all angles (especially the extreme ones).

Team Avalanche / Re: Shadow Play
« on: 2010-06-07 18:06:35 »
Why though?  Not every battle model is humanoid and circle is the most universal.  Possibly adding some fading from the outside, reducing in size, and making lighter overall would give a nicer effect.

Those should be an option during install in the latest release (check the release thread).
The low-res version is recommended in almost all cases.

If you already have it installed and insist on doing it manually then replace the pngs in the texture/menu folder.  This won't work without the GUI already installed.  As for the icons, if they aren't in the latest version but you have the files you just replace them over the .exe manually.
Right click the ff7.exe and surf around 'till you figure it out. :p

Let me congrats first for this amazing and awesome project  ;D

A simple question...  ???
Why make another Cloud's model when there is already the APZ one?
It seems well done IMHO, do you think its style is not close to the original?
Or is it that APZ doesn't belong to the Team Avalance cast?
That was already answered last page.  The answer was both.

Not as far as I know.  It seems like something that could be done easily enough from aali's position.

Team Avalanche / Re: Minimizing lag

^^^ That's what I was getting at.  Rather than saving it in the cache when you use it, just cache everything off the bat.

Team Avalanche / Re: Minimizing lag
« on: 2010-05-18 19:00:14 »
This raises an interesting point.  Is there anyway to cache all replaced textures that the game will ever need before you even run the game?  This might make startup be more than a few seconds but at least gameplay will always be smooth as butter.

Yeah no don't even bothering asking unless you want to be torn a new hole through private messages.  Absolutely zero sharing of ripped material.  That's what threatens the site's future.  Give the rules section a quick read, everyone should, for the sake of modding community.

That being said check out Team Avalanche forum if you haven't already.  They're miracle workers over there.  They've redone the entire user interface and have even taken the long arduous task of remaking EVERYTHING in the game from scratch adhering to the original style strictly.  They can use all the help they can get so try picking up a modelling program or read some basics of texturing guides.

Well technically speaking it isn't illegal to rip models from games you own and inject them into other games you own as that does not violate any copyright issues.  Distribution is a much different story.
