Completely Unrelated / so heres a question
« on: 2007-06-18 06:41:06 »
hey guys :)

havent been around much because my computer is broken. I managed to get my hands on an old Presario 2100 notebook (also broken but not completely bricked)

I'm trying to reinstall windows... but it won't let me boot from a windows cd (Home or Pro)... but it will let me boot from a linux system rescue disk.

The cd drive is not actually in the notebook (that ones broken), as such I am using an external dvd burner.

Both the windows and the linux disk use CDFS and both (should) be bootable.

Any ideas? :(

I'm looking for a graphics card with very very low power requirements for a project.

Completely Unrelated / Firefox extensions?
« on: 2006-07-30 23:59:17 »
I was wondering if anyone knew of a Firefox extension that would provide a list of all music/videos on a page and provide download links?

The way I've been doing this at the moment has been to find file reference in the source, and make a link in an html file on my desktop. This is entirely too time consuming :(

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / 3d drawing order
« on: 2005-10-29 16:31:17 »
I'm working on a 3d rendering program. It's built on top of a simple 2d drawing library. I'm trying to make the polygons draw in the correct order, objects appear solid. Currently, am ordering it by the distance between the furthest of a triangle vertex and the camera. It works pretty well, except for instances where two vertices are the same distance away. Then it orders them randomly.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should sort this?

General Discussion / FF7 PAL
« on: 2003-03-28 01:11:58 »
alright a few questions:

1) Is there more than 1 version of the PAL release?

if not,

2) where the hell is the language selection menu?

8
alright... we know most of the format, right? ;p well i was thinking about ways to export it into an easily editable format...

why not export it into psd format with foreground, background as layers and walking paths and character distance as alpha layers? just a random thought.

General Discussion / Unwritten Rules..........
« on: 2002-03-03 03:16:00 »
Come on, guys! Its common sense that if a thread hasn't been posted in for about a week, its dead. Meaning: Do not post in it. If the posts people were making were important enough, they could make their own thread. But the trouble is that most of these posts are utter crap used to raise peoples post counts.

General Discussion / FFXi Translation
« on: 2002-02-02 16:54:00 »
Two days ago, Final Fantasy X: International was released. It featured a 15 minute added scene that takes place two years after the end of FFX. it has already been translated by the GIA. (www.thegia.com) While it may be disappointing to some, this did indeed seem more like a prologue than an epilogue. (The Official Website had the text "Is this an Epilogue or a Prologue?") Could this mean that the first sequel to a Final Fantasy will be released in late 2002? (RPG Fan: Release Dates, it has been removed) Perhaps the important question is whether it will be good or bad for the series. Along with that is the question of where it will be released.

Heres basically what happens:
Spoiler: show
Wakka and Yuna are on the beach in Beville, when several members of a clan come to ask her to join. (Many have come to exist in the Eternal Calm) She denies, and Rikku pops up. They board her boat, which recovers machina from the oceans, and soon look into a sphere that Kimari found on Gagazet. It shows Tidus in a cage underwater, arguing with his unseen captor. Wakka, Lulu, Yuna, and Rikku go to see whats up.

Ok, I made a 320 by 240 image. (that is the right resolution, right?) and it looks like crap when i put it on a TV. Any suggestions on how to make this better quality?

General Discussion / Don't you HATE Squaresoft Support?

well.... the extended play is only 12 minutes long so..... i can download that :D but they need some people that know their stuff.

Dear Customer:

Thank you for taking the time to e-mail us.  Here is all of the
information that we have on Final Fantasy International, which is
currently scheduled for release in Japan.

This version features:
1. English voice acting
2. A revamped Sphere Grid - Including new spheres and a redone grid
arrangement. In addition to bearing their English names on the grid, all
characters now start relatively close together, allowing players to
completely determine their characters' progress (making Yuna a physical
powerhouse, or Auron a healer, for instance).   Players have the option to
start the game with this 'new ' grid or the original one.  Once you choose
at the beginning of the game, you will not be able to switch back and
forth between the two.
3. New abilities
4. Easier-to-organize Items

Additionally, on the Bonus DVD: Similar to the original Japanese FFX, a
bonus DVD is included in FFX Int'l.
1. "Eternal Peacetime" - A 12 minute 'mini-drama', completely new scenes
which takes place two years after the end of FFX, and features Yuna,
Rikku, Wakka, and possibly Tidus
2. New Square Previews - New footage of upcoming Square titles, including
Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy XI, the Square Masterpieces series, Final
Fantasy: Unlimited (anime in Japan) and a promotion for the Final Fantasy:
The Spirits Within DVD.
3. Interviews with the entire Japanese voice acting cast, as well as the
English Tidus (James Arnold Taylor) and Yuna (Hedy Burress).
4. FFX Promotional Movies - A collection of commercials and promotional
videos from FFX's Japanese release.
FFX Theme Song - A music video clip of FFX's theme song, Suteki Da Ne by
Rikki, available in stereo and Dolby Digital 5.1ch.

At this point, there are no plans to release this version in the U.S. at
this time.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,
Ryan Riley

General Discussion / Final Fantasy 10 International

Sounds good. Has a second disc with extended gameplay. Unfortunately, I predict it will fail to make it out of Japan, like FFVII International. Do you guys think it will make it? or we get a bulk discount on mod chips?

I finally beat the game, and it was faaar too easy.

Theres used to be a pretty big group that made editing programs for Starcraft, among other blizzard games. But about a year ago their main programmers left to work for blizzard themselves. Since then the group has turned to crap, and etiting does not look too good.

Anyway, this seemed like a good project for me to start learning how to decode file formats with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Father took me to the mall,
To retrieve an awaited thing.
Impatiently, I tapped my foot,
Waiting for the joy it would bring.

Finally, we parked and walked.
But frolicked in, did I.
At the line it became quite clear,
Time it would occupy.

Eventually, I was at the counter,
Asking for the one by name,
A moment later the clerk appeared,
With the long desired game.

Joyfully I took the box,
And tore the thing askew.
Abruptly then I stopped and thought,
f***. I lack a PS2.
