FF7 Tools / [PSX] FF7 Kernel modification
« on: 2019-11-03 15:20:23 »
Hello,

I've already ask a question long time ago about kernel modification for PSX version of FF7. But I've lost the topic with the answers some guys gave me.

I remember I can't overpassthe initial size of kernel.bin (22 184 ko) or I'll get a black screen after the "PS" logo screen and nothing more.
I remember there is a tips to launch the PS1 game with the kernel.bin without problem but I must change some values with a hex. editor or something like that. I don't remeber what I must change exactly to get a working hack version if the kernel.bin have more that the initial 22 184 ko.

Thanks for anybody who can help me.

PS : I've found a soft that let possibility to break the 9999 HP/MP/Damages for the PSX version but I remember it was for german version only. I'm not sure it really works with all versions.

PS2 : I'm french (sorry if my english is not very good), then I play with french version. ;)

Bootleg Questions / Re: [WIP] Tifa's Package

I'm confused, what are you trying to do? I'm not sure making a back up of the original game installation will work, if you plan to drop it in the place of the current one encase you need to reinstall or something. If you have the remake just keep the installer, I did and can reinstall the game in about 2 minutes.

Finally, I can play whithout do any backup file ! If I have some problem, I re-install the game with some modifications in the package.
It takes me just a big hour, but it will be safe and clean  :-P   8-)

If you're installing it with Bootleg, no. Keep everything packed as it is when downloaded. Bootleg will do all the unpacking and installing for you.

Thanks ! But I've a new problem :p
When I try to create a FF7Backup.zip file, I'va a error message. I've not 7za.exe, bootleg can't create the zip file.

OK, just copy/paste all the files in the same folder than Bootleg folder (I've put This one in D:\Games\FF7Mods\) ?

General Discussion / FF7 steam and mods
« on: 2013-09-07 06:23:32 »
Hello,

I bought FF7 on steam a few weeks ago, and I wonder if some mod for old version of FF7 PC is working on steam version. I mainly think "Wallmarket", "FF7 music" (for PSX music) and "9999 limit break".

A black screen usually means two things:
1) the kernel structure is corrupted (same happens with WINDOW.BIN);
2) the new file is too big, so you need to alter YAMADA.BIN and place the kernel somewhere else in the ISO (unless the file can still fit in the sector gap).

PS: Does this program support the original on-the-fly compression during reinsertion and pointer optimization?

How alter YAMADA.BIN ? (Folder : .:\INIT\)
