"As Square Enix's most highly regarded game FINAL FANTASY VII has been optimized for a wide range of hardware ensuring that you can play it with ease on the latest modern PCs."

From there features list. Hey, did someone stop to think is SE actually HAD the source material? contrary to popular belief. Maybe that was a rumor put out be eidos cause they did a terrible job. Also there are strong rumblings that this is microtransaction based. =/ well at least we can expect some aftermarket support.

The mods here are better than they are ever gonna do haha
I'm kind of a purist, I don't really care for the mods as much as fixing what was broken... Actually to me nothing beats an old CRT and the PS3 combo.

**

Don't get me wrong, some of the mods are pretty neat! But some bugs in the PC version just is a deal breaker. Even with heavy mod/s the game has some glaring flaws, such as the minigames, and the already mentioned pixelation. =/

103
Well mods don't count. You are making the program do what it wasn't meant to do. with un-optimised resources... they bought eidos not to long ago wonder if it has sumthin' to do with that. It's very likley they at the very least fixed the broken mini-games and the pixelated look. As it stands barebones FF7 PC is unplayable. To me even with mods.

Yeah a little bird told me this was happening a while ago. The hint of the 'boost' would be in the system specs.

 Minimum System Requirements: Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64-bit) • 2GHz Processor or faster • 1GB RAM •
DirectX 9-compatible graphic card
That's a whole lot for a simple port. :) There is a screenshot in there, it looks pretty sharp. The movies are 100% cleaned up.

Also agree with most of what was said during this very enjoyable interview.

The only thing I can honestly take issue with is the 'white knuckle' IP approach. More and more publishers and developers are selling these precious 'IP's' to other companies or smaller publishers for a quick buck.

I believe we are in the midst of a huge shift in the industry as a whole! (Music, Movies, Games, ect.) Where the corporate model just plain doesn't work! Who needs a music label when, you as a individual have soo many online alternatives to making more money then you could ever make under a label. Same apply's to books and ebooks.

(Corporations still make boatloads of money)

But never before has the person with a vision have so many options for his/her ideas. The OLD corporate model (that you are taking about) is rapidly failing. Having a hard time even producing some profit. (in any industry besides a few select retail outlets)

I mean, what is the point or purpose of a publisher at this point? What is the point of corporations at all? If you have a great idea (Lets say anime) do it! Sidestep those guys and upload your anime on one of thousands of outlets. If its good you will become more famous as an individual and probably have more money to boot.

Also, Japanese communication breakdown is probably the most prevalent out of any culture ever. But not with its own culture. But with other cultures. Let me explain, Ubisoft makes a title and it sells great in all territories including japan. However, every single game I can think of with heavy Japanese development has completely and utterly failed around the world. They are only in-touch with there core Japanese audience. Failing to evolve as a whole I think has put them in this position. Or failure to communicate in general with there international audience has lead to this.

I'd say the Western culture has a better adaptive approach and changes based on its consumers needs. As Japanese consumers are just loyal, having nothing really to do with communication within the corporation itself.  Famitsu is one example, often rating games very highly before they even play them.

Better safe than sorry, right?
Soooo true... But, I will never ever read the headline "Qhimm shutdown cause the use FF8 official Opcodes" there is a such thing as being overly cautions. After all, most/all of this caution stems from a project that was closed almost a full decade ago, for reasons completely separate from Qhimm.com. Fanboy-ism aside, this is for all intensive purposes an obscure windows 95 game...

It wasn't a local company add either, but an out-of-the-box block.
Respectfully, I would have to disagree... we use Webwasher at my place of employment, and does not come 'out of box' with any such blocks at-all. In fact Webwasher comes with a blank slate. They can pre-package blocks based on the companies request, but it is almost absurd to think they specifically mentioned Qhimm.com.  Webwasher is most annoying at 'broadly' blocking criteria, I contacted tech department (awhile ago) to add my site... they did. But they forgot to add the 'www' to the url, so it was blocked. Then as soon as that was fixed my site still was blocked, why? because I forgot to add an expiration to my cookies.

Turns out they blocked everything related to games (video games) so people wouldn't play games at work. They weren't out to get me in particular. We don't use it nowadays, it got in the way to much. Perhaps one of the above set off the block, or perhaps modding is synonymous with Qhimm.com so it was swept up under that category.

**
P.S: Downloaded, yup comes up nothing. I am drunk, and bored. LOL

**
P.S Part 2: Stop worrying yourself Halkun, much to your disagreement. I personally know Square 100% does not care what goes on here (or ever did). Qhimm.com is all-over the web, and quite predominantly on their forum as well. I can tell you with absolute certainty that not only does Square know of this site, but also knows exactly what goes on here. Even the notion of being 'under the radar' or 'overlooked' is really quite funny. :) I cannot even begin to search for and FF7 term without bumping into this site. Thousands of videos, music, and pics (perhaps even millions) even if Qhimm.com closes right now it will still be littered throughout the web for generations to come.

**
P.S Part 3!: For the record I consider Halkun to be the first and foremost expert on all subjects (including minecraft) he just is a worrywort. :D

Not really :P I appreciate someones feeling as much as the next gal but... There is a time and place. She could have waited 20min. The whole "her father accidently locked Quistis in" was stupid...

111
Yes, the guy locked up inside a prison. Has a full arsenal of items and equipment. I am going to forgo where he gets his stock (or how he funds himself) as it is standard in jRPG's. But to be a prisoner... too much. :P

They didn't. Cid wrote a poorly defined contract that effectively said, "These SeeDs are in your disposal until Timber is free". It became clear that this meant killing Edea.

Nopes. That guy came out of Galbadia Garden and told them right in front that their new objective "Killing the Sorceress" was the up most priority. Hence the gun and the whole plot. Still, they had support from all these groups (including timber) that I forgot. =/ You would think the entire planet's future could have been givin' a little more support.

On a side note, what really bugs me also is... In the prison, there was a guy in his cell, with items and weapons!? Literally a shop inside his cell! With no visible merchandise!? I can't even begin to comprehend what Square was thinking. This is supposed to be a super max prison! Geez :-( AND Apparently they let him make money too.

EDIT : -Ric-, I do understand there was some help. But even without Galbadia military (those who wouldn't help) they still had 3 schools of Seeds. In the first mission they went all out! An Army of Seed's was ever vigil. But against a 100x bigger threat they only send three =/
Remember Martin did not care if Edea found out. As long as she was dead.

113
So, was playing some FF8 (for the first time in my adult life. I'm noticing quite a few plot holes and things of that kind that doesn't quite make sense, so that I may be able to enjoy the game better. *Ahem*...

1) Cid was/is married to Edea, the main cast all grew all grew up in the same orphanage as Edea, her character model appears to be slightly older then the other kids. Yes Cid (is old and all) still went ahead and married her?! (Not really a plot hole just weird)

2) Here I am uncovering their lost past when they begin to question "how" they (the team) all forgot the same memories, seemingly at the same time. When out of nowhere Irvine blurts out "it's our GF's!?!" as they all begin to take this as fact, it begs the question... In a world with time manipulation, drawing magic, and space sorcerers, how in the heck did you pull that one out! There is not so much as even a hint of that up unto this point (second disc,) not only that but you guessed right on the first guess.

The rest of the party seemed to take this as set in stone. But WHY!? My first guess would have been jumping back and fourth though time.

3) Why in the heck would they send 3 newly graduated Seed's to kill Edea!? Blows my mind! So much is resting on this one point in the game, they leave it to teenagers! At first I thought they would like to remain covert. Then Rinoa's father says "we don't care if they know, we need the job done at all costs".

At this point in the game she blatantly kills the president in-front of everyone. And she has yet to gain control of the military (since they supported Squall.) So with three gardens, an entire military, did they just send three kids!? :O If they did not care, and went for a full frontal assault (which they did) would they not use these immense resources available!? even if you forgo the "plan" she still killed the president in front of everyone! Even a hated president has some support.

I am only on the second disc!? I don't think this will end up on my "greatest hits" list at the rate this is going. =/

Bosola quit spewing your radical ideals! We both know it's all about large icons and huge UI's.  ;-)

Yes, I have noticed a HUGE increase in chrome users.... Thing that astounds me is how fast google took over. @_@ And how fast FireFox became known as the buggy browser.

Lulzsac is proven that nothing is impossible to break. If it's on the internet, its fair game.

They seem to be doing their best to make it as hard as they can for their children to fit in and integrate into society.
Cause they believe their child should be accepted by society not matter how they turn out... Not justifying it, I have some friends who are "the gay" parents. They seem to think Society should conform to them, and could care less what we "normal" people think.

The Asian edition! Will there be a Brad or Robert downey jr edition? :D NNo, This is absolutely fantastic! Your moving very quickly as of like Akari :)

121
Simple! Not, us lower being just see you pulling a 3D model out of a 2D image. :P Also I know how halkun did it... he just projected a photo and matched it. (same effect)

Still pretty cool to see :P. Though I did know that FF7 used 3D data in its walkmesh.

Don't listen to nasty Mako
Hey there mister  :x I'll have you know I'm pretty nice! :D LOL Kudi's always mean to me now... Ever since he caught me making my giantsuper duper death ray (intended for Qhimm) he has been giving me the cold shoulder...  Geez it's gettin' do that ya cant even be a super villain these without people getting the wrong idea. =/

123
Well Bosola would be a much more smarter person to listen to in this subject. But I am now starting on a project similar to yours. These are my finding thus far...

Q: Can produce a standalone executable?
A: Every language can produce this. (Pretty Sure)

Q: Speed?
A: As Bosola said, Java can be quite fast. But it all depends on the developer =/ You can have a VB game running faster then Java givin' the right developer.

Q: Memory usage?
A: In general Java, But C++ can rival givin' who's behind the wheel and what platform.

Q: Popularity/commonness/ease of finding coders?
A: I know people will say Java. But I'll argue that in is much much more common to find C++ people then Java. =/  But perhaps I look in the wrong places.

Q: Ease of finding and fixing bugs?
A: Anything with automatic garbage cleanup... which most languages have.

Q: Ease of use?
A: Visual Basic :PBut you will never produce anything worth wile :)But Java would be my second choice.Python being the third.
Q: Ease at which one writes good code? (does it make it easy, or at least not difficult, to be a good programmer?)
A: This all depends on you. People learn differently. Some people find Java easy some people find it too difficult.

Q: Availability of resources and libraries and whatnot?
A: C++ or Java.

Q: Quality of resources and libraries and whatnot?
A: I imagine the same C++ or Java.

Q: Ease at which you can find the appropriate resource or library? (or ease at which you can make your own)[/b]
A: Java as C++ is horribly hard. =/

Again this is from a beginner point of view.I have only produced minor results, but these where my findings. In the programing world everyone has there biases though, it is very tough to get a really good answer for a beginner. It's best to start with something pre-built in my opinion, instead of making your own 3D engine. I.E Ogre, Torque, Darkbasic Pro, UT3, ect... Don't let people trick you! You will never EVER get everything done on your own. To much for one person to handle. Instead cut some corners and make it easier on your self by using one of the above programs.
