Yet another insult... by my count that 2. Yes I'm keeping track. I don't know how someone can get away with so much yet point the finger. I have never insulted you, guess that makes me the bigger person.

Anyway, why do you care?
Only you could say completely different statements in a single post. =/

People keep asking the same question, they get the same answer.
I have re-read all posts in this thread, there was no question posted that warrants now 36  posts saying the same message. I asked for you to show my facts, you have none. In other forums this would be considered spam. Actually it would have been considered spam 30 posts ago. I don't even know what this is...

I do not appreciate being called a senseless troll because I ask you where are you getting this from. Anybody that can summarize a whole game based on a teaser trailer is the opposite of fact.

78
Because they can make loads of money out of it.  Rerelease or not.  They are releasing it again only because of Windows 7 and compatibility issues and to make money.  Simple.
Keep in mind FFVII Re-Release has been announced at Gammescom 2012 as a major showing. Everything a company does is for profit, but to show the game at a main even like this means they are putting some effort into it.

It would also help the people of Qhimm if you cited where you are getting these 'facts' from. I mean... they must be facts, after all you have replied negatively just in this thread alone 34 times... You must have a pretty solid source to come up with that summarization after just one video.

Yeah I was more or less getting at the 'yet' part. I've seen that it was posted.

AvP Classic 2000 was a rerelease for modern OSes way back when AvP 2010
Well that's AvP not Square :P To be fair Square has always released in game pics of every-single-project they work on. It's strange that this is 'coming soon' yet nothing.

Thanks for that meaningful post of 'cash in' yet again. Thanks for also pointing out that I need to grow up, very constructive there. BTW all of those (even the FF7 commercial) is official. thanks for spamming... again.

Yes Dan, we know your stance on this issue... Stop spamming everybody's posts with your cash in claims. Your lucky Qhimm's staff favors you because you would have atleast gotten a warning at this point for spamming the board with your cash in claims.

On topic I feel that they pretty much have to get this right a second time. There is only so much you can burn fans and damage your brand before it really effects the bottom line. IF they fail this it will be unlikely the company as a whole would be trusted with another release of any PC final fantasy. However, if they succeed they will renew interest in there FF brand and will likely redo FF8 as well. (If all goes well)

Me am not so pessimistic as to dismiss any version of FF7 without first knowing anything about the game. Oh! and half of the FF games were unveiled with only pre-rendered movies, no game play. In some cases only a music video.

Be kewl if they add some sort of new game+ or difficulty mod. It goes hand in hand with the achievements and character booster. It wouldn't really take much aether... sith did it all by himself. Heck there already going to have to fix all the stat bugs, why not go the little extra mile.

(which it isn't, it is just a crap money spinner, when oh when will people realise this).
When they actually hear anything about it. This is my problem with you, you are the very definition of ignorant. The game virtually has no info on it, and you already dismiss it as a cash grab. You have been wrong more times than I can count, in-fact on the chat room pretty much only Vgr acknowledges you.

Fact is, I'm glad you said sumthin' usually it's the dead opposite of whatever it is that you claim. That means I'm even more excited about this game then before!

A rare time I can see clear sanity and logic.  ;D

^That's actually a quote from you.

But you did call the PSX version crap! and guess what, I know this comes as a shock, but this is a FF7 PSX community as well. I have never met a person more wrong then Vgr, you sir take the prize. Why don't you cast care on yourself and leave. :)

This guy stated in the same post two opposite statements, just trying to figure out which platform he likes.

Aali just has to implement my crap.
So is it or isn't it?

Quote
I'd give it to PSX just all around better.
Quote
and the PC(modded) is by far, superior.

Your 'points' or 'arguments' completely contradict themselves. So which is better? PSX or PC? You are confusing...

Quote
Want scanlines?
Forgive my ignorance but is pete's drivers out-of-the-box compatible with Aali's driver? At a glance they are not. I don't know what you mean by 're-package' them. unless you mean re-wright them from scratch. Making this, useless breakdown #1

Quote
I have solved one issue.
Dual shaders are not supported by Aali's driver. So you pick one shader or another. You linked me to a couple of demo examples. Congratz you know how to google. Making this useless breakdown #2

Quote
As for crashing, scan with Malwarebytes (malwarebytes.org) and remove any infection, next update your graphics driver (that will help with any gaming you may do anyway) If need be reinstall FF7 with mods of your choice (if you'd like i can just send it all to you in a prepackaged ZIP, just lemme know the resolution of your monitor)
Thank you, I'm pretty adept at navigating Aali's drivers. and having created some of the mods you probably are using... Makes this useless breakdown #3 Furthermore, different hardware types, while some may be flawless others may not be, with the same config. I tend to be on the bleeding edge.

Quote
i have broken down your points made. The final thing is yes, two minigames are broken, And sadly only Aali can fix that
The final thing is yes, two minigames are broken, And sadly only Aali can fix that. There, I have broken down your points made.
^Fixed that for ya'.

Well not really, I wish you had. I'd love to have a great looking copy of FFVII... but to be frank, all you offered was a few genaric links to shaders that prolly don't work, and a demo of a shader. =/
The rest of your 'breakdown' is a fix is comin'. Lemme tell you, Mako has been waiting a very very long time for that. Luckily IT IS coming, in the form of a new game.

It used to be a joke actually. Now it looks like it's happening... The joke used to be "God by the time you guys fix FFVII will be remade!" little did they know how close to the truth that joke was. =/

It goes both ways...If you go to a FF7 PSX forum they would say the opposite. It's just how people work.[/size]Difference is here you have some technologically savvy people who actually can test it and see the difference, while most other people just post an answer and don't care to check it or do anything to confirm it, thinking they are right just because it's the end of their fake little world when they aren't

My thoughts exactly. :) What's going to be very interesting, in the future, is when you have TWO versions of the same game. FF7 PC vs FF7 PC Re-release. You will get the old modders vs the new (presumably moders) claiming one version is better then another. (regardless if it is or not)

me I have set the bar very low for the SE team for the new FF7PC... Adjustable resolution, fix the bugs, and make the background's decent. I think they are, any PC game found on the market today has adjustable resolution.

Also, FFVII on PS3 looks like ass regardless of using the scaling or not.
Dunno what kind of setup you have but the PS3 is literally a PS1. At least it uses that same hardware. (I could be wrong on this) but the way I understand it was a ps1 was literally built right in, it switches to it when a ps1 game is loaded up.

Quote
After reading some of this, I loaded up PS1 FFVII on the CRT I keep around for my older consoles, even unmodded, PC version does actually look a bit cleaner, in the end though, it's personal opinion.
Yeah I kinda figured a majority of people on here feel the same way, this is a FFVII PC modding site after all. Heck, the game could load to a blue screen and you still get people claiming it looks better. It's like me going to a Xenogears site and saying the game looks garbled., I'll get shot down, but does it? yes.

However, popular opinion on the interwebs believes FFVII PC looks like crap. But they are giving it a second shot! YAY thats rare.

Though I do understand why you might like to play it on a CRT, I don't see how you could call it a crashy mess on PC
No mods at all... cept' aali's driver.

Quote
And I ESPECIALLY don't understand how you say you can't stand the pixelation on the PC version and you use a CRT on the PS3 - since you can do the exact same thing on the PC and have it look identical to the PSX version, and you can even turn on texture smoothing to take away any pixelation - which btw comes from the textures being low res and DESIGNED to be pixelated , and has absolutely nothing to do with the platform it's running on, at all. ( In fact, many games back then including FF7 used unfiltered, pixelated textures to give the illusion of more detail, and smoothing them out takes much of that away)
Yup I fully understand what the 'smooth' filter does on the ps3. However, there is no scanline filter on the PC version, you cannot do the exact same thing, you cannot get it to look less pixelated, you can blur the image on PC. It helps a bit... However, there IS a scanline feature (not really a feature) built right into the PSX itself.

Although I hear if you have a really high end receiver you can convert the signal to look better.

True, but that's not the game in question.

Your quotes keep getting more ridiculous...
Hehe dunno how my quotes keep getting more ridiculous since it's the same message I've been saying all along.

Where you fail to understand is the game looks better on a CRT. Who cares about stretching, resolution, blurring, it's all made up, or just irrelevant. All these are, are words. The picture is better on a CRT. The models themselves are better on PC. However, the PS3 'smooth' filter takes care of that. So the models don't even look as bad. Overall the PSX is bug free, last time I played the PC version (last year) the game was a crashy mess on PC.

Ok! Since Dan doesn't bring up any good points, I shall debate my greatest foe yet! Myself...

1: Mako you know the PC version isn't all about looks... you can use your own music, as well as import some great remix's into the game.
2: Darn that's a pretty good point Mako... I guess sound goes to the PC.

1: Mako the damage calculations are fixed regarding the armor!
2: Really!? That's pretty neat. But hey! The mini games are broken :P so it's a tie.

1: Mako how much time do you really spend on the sub game? or even the snowboard game? aren't you just nitpicking?
2: No I'm not! I don't play them much but I still get cool stuff!

1: Oh yeah? what stuff?
2: Tickets... you know, stuff.

1: You spend all of your time on the chocobo game getting tickets. You don't need them.
2: ... I hate you.

2: Ok smart ass what about my blotchy backgrounds!?
1: Oh shut up Mako, save your lies for dan. We all know you have a computer that cranks a pretty nice smartbloom filter out, making everything look nice.

1: .... I hate you. -_-
2: Likewise.

Pretty sure I just competed in the first ever 'self debate' and lost. =/ Where's Dan I need someone I can beat.

Ahh good ol' DLPB.

You repeat yourself sir without any new or real relevant information to the subject. No, it's not better to me. To me broken mini games and blocky backgrounds are just plain not worth it. Might be to you (obviously) but I do not sacrifice so much just to have a slightly sharper character. :) Here's hoping a second try with PC will be better.

Quote
If the designers today had access to the original data and could make higher resolution versions of the graphics, they would not have left FF7 PC with the PSX low res data.  Why would anyone want that?
Dunno why this statement is here, my cat sneezing has more relevant information to the topic at hand then this. :)

Quote
You do not suddenly get  a "better" image with CRT's...  it is the same data in both.
Well cause the 'data' is meaningless in this issue. Does a CRT look sharper/crisper then a LCD, yes. Question is: Why would you trade a buggy game, broken minigames, and super pixelated backgrounds to have a slightly sharper character?

Keep in mind even the minigame issue is a deal breaker for me. Besides... I don't like the sharper characters (or at least the way they look) he looks angry.

Q: But Mako, the data's the same.
So it looks better.

Q: But Mako the resolution is 1754332x123153554 p
So, it looks better on a CRT.

:)

You do realize the backgrounds are the same res as the PS1 version right?

...so if you were to run it on a monitor that uses the same native resolution that FF7 was designed on, it would look just as clear as the PS1 version.

And if you ever noticed the PS1 version always had pixelation issues. You can't even see that the characters have mouths on the PSX
Resolution aside, the models were 'enhanced' on the PC version. The images are interlaced on the psx version (i'm sure it's the same for PC) therefore look smooth and even crisp on my old CRT. However, plugging the same PS3 into my 28" monitor makes it look terrible.
