FF8PC save game S.O.S
« on: 2002-07-10 02:36:31 »
Hi Everyone,

A couple of weeks ago I bought my copy of FF8PC and everything ran beautifully until .......

My Disk2 was snapped clean in half.

Considering I'm still on Disk1, I feel that this could be a problem.

So I ask anyone willing to help if they would kindly send me a copy of one of their save game files at the start of Disk3 so I can stop sulking and keep playing.

Thanks.

Has anyone ever tried that before?

It sounds pretty easy on the Eidos web site

but what would I have to do about money, I don't have any US bank cheques on me!

I don't know if Eidos will help you....I believe Eidos only published copies for either Great Britain or the European countries.

So, I doubt that the USA version of Eidos, is going to help you with FF8 copies. "EA/Squaresoft" might, they did the publishing for the US version.

I guess you can go to the Eidos Forum and try to get Redlegg's attention.

Whenever I start the game my first screen is the Blue Eidos Screen, and then the Squaresoft screen(The same as in FF7PC) ???

I'll give the Eidos forum a go,

but, Is anyone here willing to send me a save file?

I don't mean to sound rude but i thought it would be pretty simple to do.

Here you go:
http:// http://www.geocities.com/atzndgs/FF8Disc2_3.zip

You might think that I cheated, but no, I didn't. All the characters didn't level up (not even once) and 3 GFs @ level 100?? Well, self explanatory. Just look at the amount of time I've spent.
This savegame contains Disc2 Ending & the start of Disc3.... so, I guess you search within the zip file for the Disc3 savegames.
I hope you have fun with it..  :)

Much Appreciated FFTactic_Boy!

But the link was dead

Don't worry about it too much if it is tricky.

Replacing disk
I used to work on EA's tech support line (sorry, not anymore...) and you CAN get your disc replaced, although there is a small fee. AFAIK, this is for customers within the U.S. I think you will have to send what fragments of the old CD you have with them if you don't have the receipt.

Here's the number for EA's US tech support (it's been a while, it might have changed):

(650) 628-4311

(You might be transferred to another rep to take care of the issue since I pulled this number off of the Sims ref card, but they can help you.)

Oops,  I didn't notice before, silly me.

Here's contact information for the Australia offices. I don't know 'em, except that I pulled it off their public website and they're policies may differ (but I hear Australians are a little more easy going then the Americans on this side of the Pacific.)

<snip>

Electronic Arts Pty. Ltd.
P.O. BOX 432
Southport Qld 4215, Australia

Hotline Information:
For Technical and Game Hints and Tips, phone the EA Hotline: 1902 261 600 ($1.65 per min. inc GST) 7 days a week 10 AM - 8 PM. If you are under 18 years of age parental consent is required.

</snip>

Good luck; btw, what ARE those links? Those aren't ISO images or anything, are they?

I seem to have alot of trouble with Geocities pages. My system probably drags the chain a bit.

but anyway thanks very much for the saves, and for being so thorough

@ Sir Sanjiyn : Australians like to think that we are pretty laid back down   here but we don't have as bigger computer games fan base! especially RPG's

Thanks alot for digging up that information, it should be useful.

People, please stop using your game discs as coasters!  The warranty doesn't cover that!! :P
