Currently I am experiencing a problem where after blowing up the first reactor and escaping, when being chased by shinra guards just before jumping on the train if I choose to fight instead of run away, when the battle ends a message pops up saying "Oops! Something very bad happened and FFVII has to close etc etc etc" APP.log only says:

I did not try just running away yet rather than fighting as I'd rather try and work out what went wrong so it doesn't happen again at some point. The mods I have installed are:

-Patch 1.02
-Aali's custom graphics driver
-Phoenix Rejuvenation Project.
-Millenias Cloud Weapons
-FMVres
-APZ Cloud
-9999Limit breaker
-YAMP
-FF7 Reasonable difficulty mod

I'm uploading a crash.DMP if that is helpful to analyse. If anyone knows of any known bugs with the above list of mods please let me know and I'll remove+test. Thanks in advance. <3

Crash.dmp: http://www.mediafire.com/?iuamdm2td4mufd2

Edit: Just noticed somehow I seem to have Downloaded an old version of Aali's driver so I'll try updating that and see if it's fixed..

Edit2: This time the crash happened moments sooner. After escaping I spoke to Aeris and bought a flower, then the crash happened as I walked in to the next zone. (Where I would have fought the chasing Shinra guards). I'm stumped. lol. Gonna try a few things before I reinstall (For the third time this week) and will edit if I resolve the problem..

The Phoenix Rejuvenation Project installer breaks the game.
Instead, use the Unified Model Installer or Bootleg.

Bootleg0037.zip                                 PitBrat         Bootleg Configurator                    Qhimm FILE

U001.exe                                        DLPB            Unified Model Installer                 Qhimm FILE

Thanks, I had re-installed by the time I saw your post but glad I checked back before putting PRP in again. I tried UU01 but it seemed glitchy in places, not sure if that was my doing or if it's just because it's a WIP. Regardless, having now read more thoroughly about your bootleg project I've reinstalled again so as to have a clean install to try it out with. It looks like a fantastic piece of work and I'm currently downloading all the files I need. Odd thing though, BFE doesn't seem to have APZ cloud listed in the File>Mods window, or I just didn't see it listed.

Anyway, thanks again.

Using Bootleg/BFE, default settings. Didn't crash at the shinra soldiers this time but did crash when going downstairs to AVALANCHE team's hideout after meeting Tifa for the first time. I'm beginning to wonder if my PC just doesn't want me to play FFVII looking beautiful. D: Any ideas?

@Tifatree: When your FF7 crashes again, i need the following data for further analysis:
                 (upload the ZIP'd files onto MediaFire)

  • Used options (BFE.exe -> Presets:SAVE)

  • Bootleg.log

  •   FF7 \ APP.log
    ( FF7 \ FF7Music \ APP.log )

  • FF7 \ FF7Music \ FF7Music.log

  • ff7_opengl.cfg

  • Run dxdiag.exe -> SAVE:DxDiag.txt

  • FF7 \ FF7Music \ FF7Music.log
^I could not find this file anywhere I even used Ctrl+F. I also could not find an APP.log in the FF7Music folder.

The other files are all here:

BFE save: http://www.mediafire.com/?ljf6q09tovvqcqc

APP.log: http://www.mediafire.com/?ofx9nwzml1b2903

ff7_opengl.cfg: http://www.mediafire.com/?eg1tb2ib5xa86pp

bootleg.log: http://www.mediafire.com/?fndd0r3r8ltvmib

Dxdiag.exe: http://www.mediafire.com/?evsxn4x5f57suat

Thanks for taking a look. :)

hmm, I have only just noticed I only have 11gb free space at the moment and I read somewhere this needs 16gb to install properly? I may have to run bootleg again if this may have caused me problems...

Hi Tifatree,

i have analyzed your files.
  • You can't find this file: FF7 \ FF7Music \ FF7Music.log
    Thats weird.
    Do you use the icon(s) on your desktop (made by the Bootleg installation) to start FF7 ?
    The target for the Final Fantasy VII icon should look like this:
       "C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\FF7Music\launchff7.exe"

    You don't have space problems at the moment.  ;)

  • You graphics card configuration:
    (DxDiag.txt)

    • NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440-SE

    • Display Memory: 64 MB

    • Current Mode: 1024 x 768

    • Driver Version: 6.14.0010.4523

    • Driver Date: 7/28/2003

  • As you can see, your driver is very outdated (2003).
    Normally i would suggest you to simply update your driver, but i can't find
    any support for your old graphics card in the available drivers from NVIDIA.

    The only thing you can do, is to test if the installation on your system is
    successful. I have found two driver versions:

    ! Please make at first a full Backup of your system !

    • Download from NVIDIA (295.73)

    • LaptopVideo2go
         => 295.73 Windows XP 32bit
          => Click here to download driver and INF files.
           => Click here to download the requested driver.
            => 29573.exe

No rush - Especially if this is helping bootleg. If the problem is my crappy PC then I'll stop posting about my problems. If the problem is with bootleg/mods and is helpful for you then I'm all too happy to report this stuff. :)
