General Discussion / Re: Favourite FF game in the series?
« on: 2008-06-26 20:25:22 »
Well it's not like FFVII is the only FF game out there. When it comes to strategy, FFXI blows everything out of the water. FFVII is a great action-oriented FF game. It doesn't have red mages with buffs and so forth, and there isn't much strategy, but nobody said FFVII has it ALL. And, you know what? FFVII SHOULD be action packed. It's the most cinematic of the games thanks to the elevation of our perception of the series thanks to Advent Children and so forth. Playing FFVII slow-paced like, say, FFV, would feel awkward. Why isn't Cloud attacking the enemy with his sword four times per turn? Why isn't Cid on a rampage? Why isn't Tifa kung-fu-ing everyone's arse?
Cast big guard and have a blast. That's what FFVII is about. Use White Wind when necessary. :P

Wouldn't fixing that Vincent bug (I've never seen it) require one to change Vincent's animations, or edit them in that specific area?
Like I said, we aren't a community of bugfixers, unless it's a bug in our own mod.
We're modders.

What happened to cloud in the left pic? :P

and @ "... is basically a patch."
Never saw "this game is basically a shooter with platforming elements" at the back of a game box. :P lol

The materia system was way too overpowered. They should have made some limitations, like certain characters can only equip certain amounts of, say, magic materia, while others can only equip, say, one command materia.

Another limitation they could've done instead is make materia have more effects. These effects could limit other types (or specific) materia that you can equip, and so forth.

At the end of the game, however, it is really cool being able to be a powerhouse that attacks 4 times, covers every enemy attack, counter attacks each time, and does 9999 damage every strike. Other FF games don't get anywhere close to this amount of action.

Was never down with the whole "login" thing. Should've been taken off of the wiki when that was implemented.

Releases / gjoerulv's "Hardcore" mod
« on: 2008-06-25 22:15:46 »
You can mod the psx version as well as it uses the same files.

Gjoe has his own videos of experimental things in his mod. That hardcore mod is most likely not his. (There is more than one hardcore mod)

If they were easy to fix, they would've been fixed.
All you have mentioned is the W-item bugaroony, which I imagine would require a lot of work seeing as how I doubt any of us have the proper tools to edit FF7's code.
I mean, editing .bin files and lgp files are easy, but only a select few know how to go above and beyond. I don't think anyone blames them for not taking on the responsibility of 'Squeenix patch development crew' because it's a big job that, as I said, isn't worth it.

Well, a difficulty mod is in the works by gjoe.
Other than that, there's not much we can 'fix'. I'm assuming what you think is broken is the dificulty and some bugs. Regarding BUGS, it's not worth the trouble to fix them.

Stop choosing profiles. Make your own. Most preset profiles have paths that don't match your computer.

Maybe it's just a rumor.

General Discussion / Re: ff7 continuity error? lol
« on: 2008-06-25 17:52:35 »
But it's silly because you don't see the mako cannon up close again, as far as I remember. There's no reason to put "sister ray' on the cannon if you're only ever gong to walk on the cannon when it is name "Mako Cannon".

And yeah, it was scarlett. The prissy bitchslapping one. My bad. :P

Oh lol I thought you mean ps/2 -> usb converter. When using a ps/2 keyboard (normal round plug) and using this converter, the keyboard goes into a power-saving mode in which only one button can be pressed at a time. It's ghey. :P

General Discussion / ff7 continuity error? lol
« on: 2008-06-25 07:33:04 »
When walking on the Mako Cannon in Disc 2 as Tifa, you can see the name "Sister Ray" printed on it.
However, later on in Disc 2, Elena says "Let's not call it the Mako Cannon. Let's call it... the Sister Ray!"

But it's ALREADY CALLED the Sister Ray. It's printed on the dang cannon itself.

Continuity errors are fun. :)

No offense, but what make you think that his/her model was stolen from CC. It's just a simple model ???
? Nobody said it was ripped from anywhere. Someone simply said ripping the model from the game may be a good idea rather than making one from scratch. :S

70
It's ok, nobody expects anyone to release ripped models.

It doesn't matter if ffvii's MUSIC bar says "not supported". That's actually preferred. :P

You just need to properly direct each song to its proper file. Look over your song file list and see if it's correct.

I'd love to see a textured version of what you have. It's hard to say how good your model is currently because it's untextured and hard to distinguish.

Don't worry about it, we're a friendly bunch here.
