Well one exception is still a glimmer of hope - they did it for FF13, so why can't they do it for Type-0? Well multiple reasons of course, but oh well, I'll wait until the release I guess.

Speaking of Type-0, is Japanese voice acting (for the English version) going to be an option? Alternatively or as well, can we non-Japanese people get at least Japanese scripts and voices in the game (with choice to pick what we want of course)? The English voice acting of Type-0 is so much beyond awfulness that I wouldn't play it even if it was free; the Japanese voicing was good though.

Thank you for helping me rule out the most common sources of problem right away. Open FF7Music, Configure, and check in the second tab if the plugins are defined. Browse and set them properly, then try again.

That is an interesting find. I do recall, at one point, hearing some voices in that FMV, but I didn't pay attention, can't remember why. Must've assumed it was in Japanese (didn't bother listening to the FMV outside the game at the time). I'm surprised they actually did an English voicing of that. Was it in Japanese in the original game? Or was it also in English?

2) How does 7th Heaven compare to Bootleg? 7th Heaven seems like a  The ability to quickly install and uninstall mods appeals to me, but I also am not sure which features require .EXE changes that I'd have to get Bootleg for. (For instance, I really want the Menu Overhaul's features!)

Bootleg is a package, which contains and installs mods directly to the game files, altering them and allowing you to play with the mods without any other launcher. Currently the download is huge, but this will change in the future. 7th Heaven is more of a patcher, which adds mods on runtime and is needed to run if you want the mods. Bootleg is currently being rewritten entirely in another (better and less blueberries) language, and if you're not familar with rewrites, these usually take a very long time. If you're looking for an updated way to apply mods, 7th Heaven is, for now at least, your best bet.

It is not a derivative work. This legal loophole does not apply.

Ah, good to know.

Technically, they are, since it's made for games they developped, so I don't think Aali can do anything about it.

107
They said they bought the Steam version.

108
No idea how 7H handles those, but that's definitely a case of mismatched scene and kernel lookup table.

109
Moved out of the Bootleg subforum since you're specifically talking about not using it.

Releases / Re: [FF7PC-98/Steam] New Threat Mod (v1.2)

Pretty sure AI doesn't care which materias are equipped. I saw somewhere that Sephiroth could use his magics without the Materia equipped. Don't remember where.

111
Files in battle.fs (*.dat) contain steal/drop items, and drawable magic. Ifrit can modifiy them. Doesn't let you alter AI though.

FF7 Tools / Re: [FF7PC] Trainer - Ochu (1.9)
« on: 2015-01-05 20:26:46 »
You can't do that with Ochu. You'll need Wall Market for that.

113
7th Heaven likely will not work on a previous Bootleg install.

114
Did you load the game with the patch after she died?

I finished playing it weeks ago, I'm on my second playthrough. There's a New Game+ feature, along with things you can only do on the second playthrough (special missions that require you to have done the regular story mission first, as well as side high-level missions that are way too hard for the first playthrough), and there's a boss (8-Arms Gilgamesh) you can only fight on the third playthrough and up. There are items, spells and summons you get only the second time you do these in the story too. Also Agito Tower, which is hell of a dungeon. 6 floors with each 100 of a particular enemy. First floor is 100 Tonberries, at some point there are 100 Behemoths, and you end up fighting Space Malboro (apparently easy compared to the rest - I never made it past the first floor). Winning gets you a dark soul (Request item you need to give to someone to get I don't know what) and Proof of Agito, basically the best accessory in the game - and probably one of the most powerful accessories in the FF franchise. Overall a really good and enjoyable game, I would buy a PS4 just for that game if there's Japanese voice acting. I can't stand the English voices.

116
Just finished the PSP version. Can't believe this wasn't released over here. Hands down one of the top 3 best in the franchise to me.

Same! I just hope they have an option for Japanese voices. I'll buy it if so, else won't bother.

Completely Unrelated / Anyone who knows Python and C++?
« on: 2015-01-02 23:32:02 »
I'd need some help from a programmer who knows both C/C++ and Python (preferably 3). I need a specific library converted in Python from C++, but that's nothing urgent. Alternatively, someone with enough time on their hands who knows C++ could help me convert it (I don't know/have time to learn C++). You don't need to be free right now, this isn't going to become necessary until many more months.

Thanks in advance!

The spell check button is gone. I never use it, but some people might.

Yellow can mean that you have another version of the same mod around, so this particular version is not needed. Right now there is no way to shorten the time needed for the installation; if you plan to change your settings every 2 minutes you should look into 7th Heaven instead.

Installing Bootleg over an already-Bootlegged install is not yet supported. This can yield particularly weird results, and we decided not to support it due to this. This might change in the future.

I don't know about the FF7Music installer, that would be Covarr.

Regarding the parts missing, it just means you don't have the mods and it skips it. Fairly obvious.

Where is your game installed, which version is it, where is Bootleg, where are the mods and which OS do you run?

Happy Birthday!

121
Is 'FF7mod' an empty folder? Try extracting the image file in that folder and removing it from the settings (it's not required), then try again.

122
I swear, you're probably the first person to enter your settings directly from the command line since 040 was released. I'm not home so I don't have access to the code, but it wouldn't surprise me that such a bug slipped by me. At any rate, all I can recommend you is to use the BFE program to pick your settings. I'm not even sure if all the settings are covered through the command line. If you really want to use the command line instead of the BFE, I can fix it in a few days (around the 30). The BFE's settings won't crash (they don't use the same code).

123
So there was indeed a difficulty mod installed. Glad you solved it!

124
The same battles being in the same order has nothing to do with any of the mods. This is normal behavior. Regarding the crash, this means you have either Hardcore, New Threat (not in the current Bootleg) or Nightmare installed without the new models. How do you launch the game?

125
This is really odd. Besides difficulty mods - which you don't seem to have installed - I can't think of anything that would make the Guard Scorpion any harder.
