How many battles???

limit break horror!!!!
How many battles are needed to get all the limit breaks? (up to level three of course.)
just started game again and forgotten how long it takes to get them all.
Can anyone tell me? :isee:

i believe it goes like this: to get the second limit in a set you need to use the first one 8 times, eg. use braver 8x to get cross slash.

then kill 60 (i think??) to get your lvl 2 limit. use that 8 times for the second in the set.

then kill 120(i think??) to get lvl 3, then use that 8x for the second in the set.

all the characters have the same patterns for upgrading their limits

with the exception of cait sith i think, but dont hold me to that...

Cait Sith just needs to use his limit about 20 times to get his second one. He only gets the two limits though, so don't bother trying to get more Cait Sith sucks anyway, the only time I ever use him is in Junon when trying to rescue Tifa, and then only because it can't be helped heh.

I'm not sure where you are in midgar, but a really good place to
level up limit breaks is in sector 6.  It's the broken road that
goes to the Wal Market. The primary battle of that area is against
4 guys with tails who attack quite quickly.  

Just let them hit the crap outa you until you get a limit and then
use it on one, then let em do it some more. Once youve used
it twice or 3 times, kill the last of em and get into a new battle.

Equipping the cover materia you get from behind Aerith's house
also makes things go much faster.  Just a helpful hint, but
not too helpful if you are already to the shinra building, hehe.

it goes like this:

use your first limit about 8 times and you get a second limit
now _that_ character has to kill some enemies on his own (you can use their magic, weapons, limits, whatever - petrification does not count, that's what i heard) [i guess it'a 20 in order to get a lvl2 limit]

then you need to switch to lvl2 limits an keep using you new limit until the next one shows up [propably 6 times].
then you need to kill some enemies using _that_ character [this time it's about 40].

and then you get limit lvl3. use it a few times [i think 4 times] ]and you should get second lvl3 limit.

obviously, you need to have a special item in order to obtain limit lvl4.

oh yeah, this works for characters that have that many limits [so vincent and cait sith have different rules for that]

You have to kill a hell of a lot more enemies than that to get your limit levels up. If it was 20 and 40, you'd be on limit level 3 with all characters by the time you reached the shin-ra building It's more like 100+ for level 2 and probably 200+ for level 3. At one point I decided to level all my characters to level 3 in the forest near the mithril mine, after getting Yuffie. Six characters, and it took at least 8 or 9 hours to get all those limits, and that was fighting groups of 3 or 5 monsters at a time, killing all monsters with a single character until they gained their next break level.

I even spent an age getting Aeris levelled, just so I could see her limits This was on the playstation version of course, before I discovered the wonders of the pc version and savegame editing
