Just finished eps 16-17 of Zegapain, lovely series has pontential to stretch out very far since every ep is revealing more and leaving alot of questions unanswered.
Haruhi Sazumiya's ending was strange, having watched all the eps again in proper order It still doesn't hit home what the true ending is supposed to be - suppose there isnt one.
Blood+ is great if you watch all 32 eps in one go like I did I dont expect the series to last longer then say episode 50-55
xxxHolic is good but never got around to watching more then 2 yet.

Other animes to avoid:

strawberry panic, nana.
Ouran High School Host club - very corny but is still funny.

Try Neon Genesis Evangelion
Thats has a weird ending no one can make sense of.

I'm not one for Anime myself, not because I don't like it, I just haven't seen many. But I did see one I really liked called Outlaw Star.

remember some animes need you to have a couple of screws loose to make sense

I only watch Pokémon. I know it's childish, but I'm not really interested in anime, and my younger siblings really like it. It should be getting somewhat more mature and accurately-translated soon, though, because 4Kids entertainment lost the localization rights to someone else for the next season onward.

Ive seen NGE (more than once 0.o) and even though everyone goes crazy over it.. its not an anime i really like. I'd say it ranks somewhere near 50, (Rahxephon / Sousei no Aquarion = top 5)

Guys, the animes I mentioned are recent (some not even available in the US).
I dont want to go into the list I have seen in the past 10 or so years (Neon Genesis is near the start of that list incl Ranma 1/2, Macross Plus, Akira etc).
New current animes please like in the title.
Also any japanese tv/series shows anyone is watching at present?

When I was in japan, (like 3 weeks ago) there was this one live action tv series or something about a Hioghschooler, which seemed to be the closest thing ive ever seen to making naime into real life lol. One episode was about the afternoon lunch rush and it had the whole school flooding with peopel and stampeding and stuff.

I like thinking ones.
Ergo Proxy <--- Thought filled. Post apocolypse I acidentally saw the first episode and was hooked.
Trinity Blood <--- watching for the 5th time (over and over always miss stuff the first time through)
Black Lagoon <-- OK but some of the story is getting tired.
Flag <-- OK it's a wait and see show really but the style is good the plot is confused, still human in robot thing *UN fighting for peace* styled.
Demonbane <-- big robot magic and some clueless guy style plot.  A bit over the top and over controled plot.  Art work is very good but the plot is as I said way over controled (IE it's way too more of the same).
GunXSword <-- after 14 I said 'what the heck is this about?' and deleted it completely.  I got tired of it really Mediocre.
Eden's Bowy <-- strange but basically decent
The Book of Y's <-- haven't finished watching it yet. Same as Eden's Bowy
Naruto - I watch and wonder just how much filler can they put in this show. The first season was excelent, so was the second.. it's now in a huge very long dull slump.
Bleach - started out rough got better now it's ummm I'm not totally sure what the heck they are doing.  Still sort of fun.

I watch Ranma 1/2 episodes on ocassion to have a few laughs. :)

I hear they are going to get bleach back on track in episode 105, the airing timetable changes from ep 100 onwards.
There is rumour of a new intro at ep 102 and an outro for 105.
Well can't see those buntos last long with Captain Kuchiki Byakuya (or how ever you spell it) fighting them next episode.

Mind you I have been following InuYasha Manga since they stopped the series (because of too many fillers and catching up with the manga just like Naruto and Bleach), and seems they are killing everyone off in an attempt to finish of the story. Amazing how Sesshomaru and Rukia's Brother in Bleach are quite similar (noble, dont bother with small issues and rarely show emotion).
