Please see here for information about using enemy attack animations for player spells.

If the OP has his ps1 FFVII...

He doesn't - he bought the game over PSN, which doesn't come as an ISO file.

Ok, this is starting to be too much trouble for me. I've tried at least 4 different programs to convert the EBOOT.PBP to an .iso, all either to no success or success with a corrupted unusable .iso file. And this mystery KERNEL.BIN file continues to elude me as I have tried a couple different FFVII .isos online, and still do not see a KERNEL.BIN. Am I viewing the .isos that I'm trying wrong somehow? I'm using WinRAR.

If the .iso generated has its files and directories preserved, you should be able to find the file in INIT/KERNEL.BIN once you mount it.

If the filesystem isn't preserved (e.g. it's just a big binary blob, or a directory that won't open - meaning it's an undifferentiated binary) - you'd have to locate the file on the basis of the disc LBA. I don't know if that will be consistent with the LBA position on the US PSOne discs, though.

Are you playing on PC or PlayStation?

A long time ago, Ficedula created a save editor for the FFVII pocketstation minigame 'Chocobo World'. The download location has been dead for quite a while, but I've managed to find a copy and mirror it on my own domain.

The file is located at http://www.breck-mckye.com/final-fantasy-modding/Ficedula-Mirror/chole100.zip

The .zip file contains a Windows binary and documentation in the form of a readme file.

This is a problem that's been developing for a few months now.

There are quite a few old, abandoned tools that haven't been fully deprecated or replaced by newer projects. The problem is that we can't really redistribute other peoples' work without their permission, or at least some implicit indication that they're happy with mirroring.

As a compromise, what I can do is start mirroring the files on my own site, but IM / email the authors of those tools confirming permission. It's not a great solution - it's still quite intrusive and presumptuous to start redistributing stuff - but it's better than nothing.

I've managed to track down a copy of Chole and upload it here, but I cannot find any mirrors for the FF8 Launcher - the author put the files on RapidShare, which doesn't archive old uploads. Still, I will email the author and see if he can provide us a new copy.

Other than that, I suggest IMing the authors of any particular tools you're looking for, or checking out any personal websites that they link to in their profile (see the globe icon underneath their avatar).

Evidently I didn't read your post properly, as I somehow missed the fact you're working with a PSP EBOOT rather than a PSOne ISO.

You could try and convert the Eboot into an ISO, modify and turn it back again, but you might come into problems with kernel modifications. Apparently they don't always work well on PSP.

Could anyone possibly direct me to an .iso with the KERNEL.BIN file?

No. Providing links to pirate copies is against forum rules.

132
The mirror link seems to work just fine.

133
You need to use WallMarket to manipulate the KERNEL.BIN (pretty sure it's in the /INIT folder of your ISO), then re-insert the file using CDMage Beta 5's 're-import' feature.

Wonder if I should consider creating some kind of tutorial video for basic modding efforts...

Lol he basically just necro-ed his own thread.

Ha - I hadn't noticed! Necro-ing is still probably preferable to creating identical threads, though.

136
Would this be just for general discussion threads? Why would this be necessary?

At least we could make it mandatory for users to put some referencing in the new topics like: FF8:... Or such, so it would much easier to browse trough them.

Most users do already do this, and besides, it's usually apparent from the thread title what FF is being discussed.

FF7 Tools / Re: Hojo 1.0 - enemies editor

I have uploaded the distributed .zip to my own domain. You can get it here: http://www.breck-mckye.com/final-fantasy-modding/Hojo%201.1.zip

I have also PMed the original author to confirm he's okay with this.

I'll begin. If this doesn't take off I'll unsticky the thread.

Um... is this legal?

I don't really need to add to this thread; Rebirth speaks for me.

Got a pic or animated .gif you'd like to share? Post it here.

Kurohei, can you confirm if using 0.40 fixed the problem?

Got a link to an article, web page or YouTube video you'd like to share, but which probably doesn't justify a thread of its own? Post it here.

Please mark anything NSFW for those of us surfing from work or school, as well.

In the recent post. The one I just edited to read differently.

Really, you shouldn't be reliant on my advice - I never really did much research into limits, just put together a (badly developed) application for managing the LIMTMENU data.

145
Then you should probably change this sentence, in the first post of this thread...

Yeah, wrote it the wrong way around.

146
Then you've found differences in the attack defined in the KERNEL.BIN and the one defined in LIMTMENU.MNU. Attacks in the KERNEL trump those in the LIMTMENU, by the way.

LeonhartGR is not Kudistos Megistos. I don't even have the check the IPs to know that.

KM is British, by the way.

148
Now that is my final word on it

No it isn't.

'Baiting'? I hope you don't mean that in the sense you normally use it in. Because accusing a global moderator of posting disruptively without good cause is not a good idea.

I vote BNP as a protest vote

What better way to protect British freedom from pushy religious types than voting for a neo-fascist party that wants to reinstate Christian theocracy?

I have also visited the East End of London many times, and it is a hell hole.

I live in Stratford. It's shitty, but it's shitty because it's poor, in the same way that parts of South Yorkshire were shitty because they were poor.

I also saw it get torched to the ground a few months back, when a black criminal was shot dead, and all the blacks rose up (as they do elsewhere when one of their "brothers" comes a cropper).

You keep repeating this idea that the London riots were black-led. You also have a bad habit of eliding the differences between race, nationality and religion. Those are things you should stop doing.

I will not return to this thread.

Seifer responding to dissent by promising to ignore the user / abandon the thread? That's a first.

I've said my piece on this, an I do not intend to spend the next week "debating" this.

Or perhaps not.

The government puts pressure on the ISPs, at least here in Britain that's what happens.

One thing that particularly worries me is the way that this (and previous) governments have tried to redefine 'activity tenuously linked with criminality' with 'actual crimes' - leading to all sorts of suspicious laws around online activity (like that aide of Boris Johnson's who got arrested for writing BDSM fiction, on the basis that it was 'extreme' and 'might inspire violence')
