Team Avalanche / I Want to Texture Something.

Hi, just having a look around and I'm struggling to find some untextured things.

See, I don't actually know how texturing works; at all, but I know Photoshop very well - and the summer's here... so I need something to do. I'd like to start with something a bit simple, like a weapon or something ideally.

Can anyone give me the heads up?

Graphical / Help Identifying This Texture - Joker

Right, for my A2 Graphic Design project I'm doing computer games, so I'm recreating a few textures/posters etc.
I'm trying to recreate the texture for a monster called Joker (I think) but I can't figure out what that bit on the bottom left is supposed to be (The pixelated bit)




I respect constructive critisism but the texture's not finished yet so please don't point out obvious flaws 
If you can figure out what the bottom left bit is supposed to be then please say!

Just thought I should put this in the release section since I finished it ages ago.

Probably not high in the demands list for FFVII mods but it had to be done eventually. Here's an updated opening credits scene for Final Fantasy VII.

I've made a few versions, one slightly more true to the original, and some others just because I can.
Oh and I've chosen to use quite a simple font for the text as it looks a lot more true to the original than anything fancy.

Completely Unrelated / Current, Previous and Fail Hairstyles

Well I just dyed my hair WHITE so I thought I'd share it with you.

CURRENT - 9th August 2010



Before I cut my hair and dyed it it looked like either of these:

PREVIOUS - Left 31st August 2009 - Right 3rd February 2010



I've always wanted really bright hair, not sure why! Last time I tried to do it I was about 12, and it went ginger, so I had to dye it brown, which went ginger brown. Oh dear!

Basically,
I'd love to help out with projects such as Team Avalanche, and I am about to go into A-Level Graphic Design, so I'm not new to Photoshop. But I really don't know where to start, and fiddling around with buttons really doesn't do the job.

Can anyone recommend some tutorials or something similar for me to start texturing? Here some stuff I've done:

General Discussion / Question on Cutscenes

Hey, quite a while ago I saw something about putting custom videos and cutscenes into FF7, I'm working on a mod and I would like to put my own videos into it. Now I've searched and I can't seem to find anything, could someone link me to the exact post that explains how to do it, or just tell me? Once I've done it you can delete this thread if you like (:

Troubleshooting / Final Fantasy X Mod, White Textures In-Game. [RESOLVED]

Hey, as some of you may know, a little while ago I decided to make a mod in which you play as Final Fantasy X Characters in Final Fantasy VII. I stopped because I got stuck and I didn't have the time to resolve the problem. Now I've decided to revive the idea. Getting stuck on basically every step, I finally got a model in-game  Yuna's Staff. It works perfectly fine in Kimera, heres a screenshot to show you:



For the purpose of this image I added the part to the bone, it isn't actually attached to her model.

Now this is what it looks like in-game:



As you can see, it isn't exactly right... The eye, mouth and weapon textures are not being applied (Or so thats my theory)
It's only happening to Aerith, all the other characters are fine. Cloud even has apz's Buster Sword and his textures are just fine.
Has anybody else encountered this? Does anybody know the solution?
Once I figure this out I can start to put whole character models in.
Help would be greatly appreciated

Completely Unrelated / Incorrect Proxy Settings --VERY URGENT!--

When I go into Firefox it says it cannot open the web page because the proxy settings are wrong. So I go into options and choose "no proxy"
It then works fine but I have to do th every time I go onto the computer. This is my first question, how can I make the "no proxy" setting permanent?
Now secondly, I can't figure out how to change the proxy settings in Internet explorer. Sure, I use Firefox so why would I worry about Internet Explorer? Well aloot of program depend on Internet Explorer to run, such as MSN. So I can't use MSN, and that is a BIG problem, cause I have a lot of important contacts I need to talk to.
One last thing, can someone explain what a proxy setting actually does? I'm not too sure.

Please I REALLY need help on this!

General Discussion / No gaming skill needed trick on FFX

Hey, by accident I found a trick you can do on FFX.
Some of you may use this and some of you may think it's cheating.
In Besaid, teach Tidus Cheer and Haste.
Now, on the first boat to Kilika, when you fight Sin there will be a never ending line of 3 sinspawn. Rearrange your team to Tidus, Wakka, and Kimahri. Have Tidus cast haste on everyone and then keep using cheer until Wakka and Kimahri are doing at least 200, Kimahri should be able to do about 300 and Wakka should be doing about 230 for this to work nicely, now keep attacking the Sinspawn. They should die in one hit. When Sin sends out three more sinspawn, your team should all attack before the sinspawn. Now because you kill them in one hit they will never get a chance hit. Meaning you can attack forever. Hopefully if you cheered enough, at least one of your characters should be overkilling, mine was Tidus. Each Sinspawn gives about 20 gil and 2 AP I think. That's about one fight in Kilika.

Now heres the part you may not want to do, if you have turbo on your controller, turbo the X button [O for International] and hold it down with an elastic band or balance the edge of your  Playstation on it. You can leave this for hours now, but keep checking just in case somethings gone wrong in battle or the thing holding the button down has come off.

I'm currently doing this well and it's working nicely!

I was wondering if it was possible to replace an animation for a summon with a movie file.
Or maybe editing the animation so it only plays the outcome, like Bahamuts Megaflare hitting the enemies but before that happens a movie file is played.

Completely Unrelated / Shift key wont turn off!

I dont know how this happened but when I woke up this morning shift would not turn off!
I cant type numbers as they come up as ! and " and so on and i cant do any punctuation like full stops
When I press enter on MSN and stuff it just goes to next line and the last letter i type goes on until i press another key
Example:
My name is freddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

See?
This is very anoying as i cant do anything i want to
Ive checked sticky keys and everything and i turned them all off
i dont know how to fix this and it bugs me
if i restart it goes back to normal for a little bit but then it will come up with a message asking me if i would like to turn something on because i have had shift on held down
Also when i move the wheel on my mouse instead of it going up or down the page it goes back or forward a page
Anyone else have this problem?

Completely Unrelated / Computer is SO SLOW! Also beeps.

My laptop isn't low on memory at all but I'm deleting stuff anyway and that isn't helping. I've stopped as many processes as possible such as Limewire and Bitlord. And I've even tried changing the skin.
But whatever I do my Vista is slow. Every time I do something my laptop just goes LOL NO! Imma make you wait fool! So that takes ages and most of the time freezes and stops responding, even my desktop stops responding and crashes, I can't watch video's, streamed off Internet or in a player it just sticks too much and so does music. When i click on the volume it will pop up and I have to wait about 20 seconds before it becomes usuable. Even while I type this it sticks and then appears about 60 keystrokes later! D:
I can't do anything! I have McAffee Anti-virus and it always stops viruses.
What can I do?

Well. I have all the programs to do this so I should be making my first character relatively soon. But the OBJ converter crashes when I try to use it and 3DS Max goes white when i click on it so I can't see what I'm doing. I will try and fix these problems even though I have no idea whats wrong with them except I'm on Vista.

So until I sort that out I will be working on the music change over. I heard that you can change the music by installing FF7Music then changing the music files. Is this true? Also, when I installed FF7Music on my old PC, an XP the MIDI kept playing along with the MP3 so I had to mute Midi/synth, but on Vista you can't. I havn't tried to use FF7Voice on my Vista yet but I have tried changing the output on ff7config and none of them stop Midi output. Any idea's?

Hi, I've got the game  Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Special,  I have no idea how to play it but I've noticed the characters follow the style of FFVII.
Does anybody know how to extract the models from it?

Archive / Patch/Mod chooser exist?

If any of you have ever played Oblivion for the PC then you know what I'm talking about.
Well I was wondering if there was a program that ran when you opened FF7. Which you could choose what patches you want to use.
Maybe you could have a folder in the Final Fantasy VII directory called Patches. And inside you had a folder for each patch.
For example.

Sephiroth Patch

-----------------------
Char.lgp
Battle.lgp
World_us.lgp
Kernal 2.bin

Then in the chooser it would come up as Sephiroth Patch, not as Char.lgp or battle.lgp
Also you would have a folder called original so you could choose which one you'd want.
I think this would work if you where to make FF7 read those files from those directories.
And also maybe you could make a "merge" function so you could use some files from some patches and others from a different one.

Troubleshooting / FF7 screen totally black.

I've just installed FF7 on my Laptop which is Vista (Yes I know Vista doesn't run a lot of stuff)
Well when i go to play it i get passed the intro and then the screen goes black but the game still runs. When i get into the first battle everything goes back to normal and then when it finishes the maps and characters come back. when i exit to the next screen i have no characters until after battle.
And also when after the intro there is no music. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

Also I get no error message and nothing crashes.

Hey guys!
First post! 
So I've seen a few mods around here, like Kingdom Hearts II characters in battle and the Reunion patch and such, and thought I may have a go at it.
Well, I am trying to replace Rufus and Vincent, and Red XII with Dark Nation (Rufus' "Pet")
And I have a sneak preview and a query. First, the Preview:

Secondly, my question is, if i replace Dark Nation, of course his head tail will not go with him so I have to do that manually, so shall I replace it with Red XII tail then reposition it, will it still animate and will it just mess up?

One more thing, i heard you could keep the animations of an other battle model by messing with a Hex Modifier, but would that be a stupid idea as Dark nation is and enemy meaning it wont have all the right animations?
