Archive / Quesiton about Bitmaps
« on: 2007-05-05 00:44:51 »
I'm working on new models for the Materia that you see on the field right now, and Pcreator is NOT liking the 256 color bitmaps I'm making for the textures. I was just wondering if I should be choosing a special option in photoshop in the Indexed Color menu. Here's some pics to show you what I'm talking about:

Here is the texture as an 8-bit 256 color bitmap I chose Local (Perceptual) because it makes it not look like garbage

Here's how it ends up looking in Pcreator

I mean zoomed out to the size it would actually appear in game, it doesn't look too bad. I'm just sort of a stickler for things not looking nasty.

**EDIT**
I dunno, maybe I'm just being a little harsh on them. They don't look so bad when I'm not zoomed all the way in on them.

Archive / So weapons anyone?
« on: 2007-04-03 03:25:51 »
So squeeble, weemus, and I are working on a pretty decent sized modding project now. Squeeble is converting a bunch of battle models from KH, and other Final Fantasy titles, weemus is working on converting the battle models to field models, and I'm working mostly on weapons and fixing textures. So I got a question for you guys. What kind of weapons would you like to see in FF7? I already have a couple of Shin-Ra made swords, a Kingdom Hearts themed Keyblade, and the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda, so what else?

**EDIT**
On the note of swords... this better work in game or I might cry...

I decided to pop in here and it sort of inspired me to work on some sword models again. I might if anything release a ton of .obj and texture files, so people can convert them if they want to. For fun, I've been toying around with making a Master Sword model (From the Legend of Zelda). I need to work on the textures... ALOT, but here's what I got so far:

**EDIT**
Made it look prettier:

**Edit again**
I think I'm retarded or something... I decided to go back to my Shin-Ra Powerblade model, and try to get it to work, and I still can do it. I changed Cloud's HRC to allow 5 textures, and renamed and reindexed all of the sword's textures, but all I get is this:

Archive / New Sword Model (And I need a little help)
« on: 2006-09-15 18:59:19 »
I just made I new sword model with PCreator, but I honestly have no idea how to make it work at all in the game itself. I did dome experimenting with PCreator already, but the experiment sword model was turned at a wierd angle (It was pointing towards the person standing next to Cloud) and I have no idea how to get the textures in the game. I was wondering if anyone could help me out, I'm sort of new to this part of it. Anyways, onto the model.

First a little background info on the sword:
I frequent a Role Playing chatroom, and one of the other members decided to design Keyblades a la Kingdom Hearts for some of the characters in the chatroom. This sword is one of my character's Keyblades, so the sword is simply called "Toxic's Keyblade." I decided to make this one, because it looks less like a key, and more like some insane looking sword. Here's a couple of pics:

Toxic's Keyblade Model:

I'm not really done texturing it yet, I'm going to do a little more detail in the metal parts of the handle still, but I still wanted to show it off a little first.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I'm not releasing this yet, if ever. It was more to just see if I could figure out how to make a custom battle model for FF7. I'm going to complete it regardless though. I got some more tweaking to do, like the legs don't match the skin tone of the head, but I figured I would at least show off some screens of it. The model is a model of me FF7-style.
