Hey thanks for the answer Kaldarasha. If that's the case, I will try removing the glitchy light files then. Don't want this issue to break my immersion in the game. I could live with the low res lights as long as they work well. Thanks!

27
A bump with some examples because this is an otherwise awesome upscale mod with just odd animation flaws here and there. And I've noticed that these issues also happen with Yarlson's and Omzy's backgrounds too.

- The end of the highway (after Motorball fight). Car lights flicker but construction lights stay still.
- Shinra Building: The blue lights surrounding the elevator in which Aerith and Red XIII are trapped in aren't 'glowing', they're just still.
- Candle lights inside Kalm houses don't flicker. They're still.
- Cloud's flashback: When Tifa, Cloud and Sephiroth approach the materia spring, in this scene the lights illuminating the materia don't animate themselves smoothly (hope that makes sense?)
- Dyne death scene: again, the dramatic lights from the sky appear without smooth transition.

These glitches are often accompanied by brief yellow error messages popping up at the bottom of the screen that say something like "failed to load texture". I'd appreciate any help or advice on this matter.

28
So I'm using Satsuki's upscaled waifu backgrounds and my issue is that some light animations don't work well (or at all). Is this a known issue? And is there a fix?

29
So I think what DLPB means is that he implemented a mechanism that lets the character learn an enemy skill into all of the enemy skill materias that they're currently equipped with. Even if one of those materias already has the skill, the other ones that don't have it will still learn it.

Looking forward to playing the next version of Reunion.  :)

Yeah that photo is too realistic and would break immersion. Maybe cartoonize it somehow? Also, the white bottles in Holu_1 at the top are too bright imo. And the purple bottle is just slightly over-saturated. They stand out too much. But otherwise great job.

31
I had the same issue until I enabled "preserve aspect ratio" in aali's driver settings.

Must say your art is quite simply stunning. Jmp434's art and team avalanche's art looks amazing too. Very refreshing to look at.

For anyone else dealing with this problem: my solutions was to disable 9999 limit break in the installer. Then the bars appeared. It's a trade-off.

34
Thanks for answering DLPB :) I could swear that it used to work fine back in the day though. Guess I'll play around with it some more and see what happens.

35
I know this mod of reunion is now unsupported but I just wanted to install the FF9 style menu mod from R03e (with break 9999 limit and barrier bars instead of icons). But during installation when I choose all these options I get the barrier icons instead anyway and I only get break 9999 if I choose to install retranslation as well. Why is that? Is the installer broken?

36
I always suspected that it's not needed but had to make sure. Thanks for answering guys, not gonna restart from now on.  :)

In 1997 version of FF7 Is it necessary to restart the PC after installation? If yes, then why?

I re-install the game quite often and having to restart each time is quite tiresome.

Troubleshooting / Re: Need advice on TouphScript?

I think I've found a workaround. I'll use Proud Clod to load in the needed scenes into a vanilla scene.bin. Then I'll edit them with TouphScript and put them back into my modified scene.bin with Proud Clod.

So this issue is somewhat solved.

By the way DLPB, how did you add these materia/item icons in PSX version of retranslation project? Those are quite nice and I would like to add them myself if it's easy.

Did you make sure that scene.bin is in correct place?

The scene.bin is in a 'battle' folder. It's always there.

Is it writable (not read only)?

Honestly, I have no clue what you mean by 'writable'. But I'm able to read all the dumped files and I'm able to save them.

Have you checked the log file above? The text document.?

It says: Registry values found:SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII

I am using a hardcore mod scene.bin which I slightly modified with Proud Clod. Just tried a vanilla scene.bin and it encoded it fine. So the issue is the modified scene.bin. But why won't it let me encode it?

The inside of my TouphScript folder (after dumping) looks like this:

I can dump the files but I can't encode them. I'm using the 1.3.1 version (though it says 1.2.9).

When I try to encode, it seems to get stuck on scene.bin.

What am I missing or doing wrong?

Not sure I follow this..  R05c IS Beacause and Menu Overhaul.  Everything in this installer is compatible with itself.

What I mean is, the installer has some menu enhancement stuff but there is no FF9/FF10 style battle menu to choose from. That's why I'm wondering if I should download that separately from 7th Heaven.

https://img.youtube.com/vi/EA8z9ruLhYw/0.jpg

It installed this kind of transparent blue battle menu.

But it doesn't have an option to install this one for some reason. I think R03e still had it.

DLPB, thank you for dedicating your time into this project. I've got a couple of things to say.

1) Why remove the 'Quit' menu? I know Alt + F4 does the job but this seems needless.

2) When I checked series canon option, Ether Turbo still showed up. Turbo Ether is canon.

3) Also, why did you remove the 'hold x in battle to attack' thing? I keep holding the x button and nothing happens, must click it now instead. It's not a big issue, but it was more convenient to just hold x for a quick attack.

4) Is R05c compatible with the latest 'Beacause + Menu Overhaul' mod?

Hey guys, can I ask where exactly do I put my 'movies' folder now? I have the 1998 FF7 and the movies are still read from the disc even after applying the custom driver. How do I change that? I remember the days when changing registry of MoviePath did just that but I can't find it anymore...I tried putting it in the mods folder but the game/driver just ignores it...Every other mod works great so far, just stuck on 'movies'. Help?

Edit: Nevermind, found a solution.

46
Not related to your problem but why use an emulation program when the game has controller support already?

Yes I figured that one out. It's just that I've always used it for the 1997 version and I didn't think the controller support would be incorporated into the bootleg as well.

47
Hi PitBrat, thanks for replying. I'm not using Grimmy's Yuffie battle model though. The issue still persists, game still crashes but I've noticed that it's not just during the cutscenes. It also crashes during "in-town" scenes (e.g. I try to enter a room, crash.  Or an NPC enters a room, crash). But those are rare and it seems the majority of crashes happen on cutscenes. Well, I'll post a link to my crash.dmp, app.log and a screenshot of BFE options I've selected.

I  have the new 2012 version of FF7. I'm using Bootleg040 and a keyboard emulation program for joysticks called JoyToKey. Last time the game crashed was while "fallpl.avi" was playing. It's the one where sector 7 plate crashes...
So it's two crashes at once...:p

Anyway here is my app.log:

The blue/red icons are barrier indicators, right? Beautiful. Actually, I'd prefer this FF9 theme over FFX one.

I have a small question. Would you include the barrier/mbarrier bars into your mod? You see, not being able to see those bars makes some battles a bit frustrating since it's hard to tell when the effect "wears off".
