Releases / [FF8] Cronos gameplay mod

Hi everyone ! **Cronos 0.2 is out !**

First of all, the mod starting to be seriously big. A team is getting build with for the moment:
@nih1l the fine AI researcher
@.malekith the battle balance mathematician
@unicorngoulash the guy that work on disassembly, yep they exist.

And more people soon will join us !
If you want to join or simple follow our work, you can join us to the New FF8 Cronos Discord. Pretty cool place.

The idea is that the mod will be the reference gameplay wise. Anything you can dream off could be done here ! New AI, balance battle, No XP run, uncensored game, Rare item fix, ... And more ! (don't want to spoil yet).

Without further ado, here what this awesome mod can do (everything activable on your liking):

 - __Quality of life:__
   - MaximumDraw: With this activate, you will draw 100 everytime you succeed a draw.
   - DamageCap: All damage can deal up to 65.535 (Eden damage is also cap to 65.535).
   - LimitlessMagic: Using magic doesn't decrease your stock.
   - 255AP: Earn 255 AP after battle. Thanks to @unicorngoulash
   - SaveAnywhere: Allow to save anywhere, but use at your own risk ! Thanks to @unicorngoulash
   
 - __Game fix:__
   - BahamutRareItem: Now actually increase the probably of really rare item. Thanks to @alerion1107
   - GerogeroUncensored: Use the japanese version without color change.
   - NoUnequippedOnDream: Stop this madness of re-equipped everything on temporary characters !
   
 - __Little gameplay mod:__
   - NoXP: Don't earn any XP at end of battle. Thanks to @unicorngoulash

I am working at the moment on a complete list of value we know on the exe gameplay wise.

I have added all info I could find digging qhimm, from SegaChief or any people having information, and now I am testing values and trying to understand how they work (sadly JWP found lots of thing but never explained how, just giving values).

General Discussion / [FF8] New wiki

Hi guys!. Following internal discussion, we want to not use anymore the old https://wiki.ffrtt.ru/index.php/FF8 for the following reason:
- The tools to edit is not up to date with the standard of today (Adding image, color,...)
- Collaborating editing is not possible
- The website might go out at any moment for any reason (Main reason)
- Hard to keep it organized without being able to work directly to the root folder.

For those reason, we create a github dedicated that produce a website, here the link (might change if someone want to host it): https://hobbitdur.github.io/FF8ModdingWiki/

A warning will be added to the old wiki.

This wiki is for the moment mainly with technical stuff, but it could also contain guide how to mod the game, FAQ etc. It could be the ultimate tool to share all the knowledge we have.

Took me a while to set it up, hope you'll appreciate. All contribution are welcome !

If people from others FF community are interested to share, they are welcome !

Releases / [FF8] FFVIII Reloaded - Hard mod by mexico

A French modder, Mexico, did a long time ago a famous Hard mod called FFVIII Reloaded.
It's an amazing mod and you can find the trailer in French here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68CLED6NDMk
I adapted it to make it works with FFNx and Junction8, so now all French can appreciate this masterpiece with graphical/sound mods !

But that's not all.

With the new tools for language, now we can adapt this mod to every language ! The author changed a lots of line of dialogue (like a lot !) which need to be translated.
If you are interested in working on the translation on any language, please contact me ! It will just be an excel to fill online, 0 knowledge of modding required except languages !

I will work on the translation to English, but any help is welcome.

It is really worth this little work of translation, the mod is amazing. It changes lots of thing:
- Enemy stats and AI adjusted.
- New bosses and enemies added.
- Magic spells modified in both power and attributes.
- GF abilities reworked and improved.
- The card mod is only accessible on Disc 4 via an item and only if you’ve completed your collection.
- Different enemy drops and magic steals, usually far less plentiful.
- Magic draw points altered.
- New side quests and changes to existing ones.
- And much more…

Happy new year !

ILP (International Language Patch) is now out available in all language: German, Spanish, Italian and French !
That means:
- Echo-S got full sub
- New language can be added
- Improved language on the way (if you want to participate on those new translation, please ping me !)
- Futur UI development will be available in all language. In FF7 UI need to be done for each language. Here we can make UI for English, then just translate !
- All mods done for English can now be easily adapted to all language.
- Junction 8 is usable in all language

I would like again to thanks a lot @myst6re for all his work behind, and @Riccardo for heavy beta testing my tools.

You can find this mod on the mod manager Junction8, easy to install and setup.

I present you a new tool, CC-Group !
This tool allows to modify the card data for 2013 version (maybe soon remaster ?) for french and english (others language is a possibility)  by creating a hext file that just need to be copy in FFNx folder.

I present you a new tool, ShumiTranslator !
It allows to make easy the process of translation. It takes all text from a file, put them in a csv. You can then edit at your own pace, then re-import the csv and save all the modifications to the ff8 file. And bam, modification done !
It will also ease the way to make mods for multiple language. Right now if you want to apply all your modifications, let's say of the gforce abilities, you have to re-apply it to every kernel.bin of every language. Very tedious !
With this tool, you can just import the csv of the language, and bam, you have a kernel.bin in the target language with all your modification ! Souds great ? It is !

This tools has actually 3 tools in one:
- One that allow a quick modification of a value in a file
- One that allow to transform .dat files into XLSX and back into .dat files, so you can modify a lot pretty fast. It is also the one with the last update on what is known of the different values, and bring a lot of info to help choosing which value to put (and an AI reader/editor)
- And one to edit the AI

Make your choice !

Hi all. I worked ona m00x.bin and m00x.msg files editor.
This will handle m00x files, which manage the conversion of the different gforce capacity. For example now you can change that the quistis card produce just a stone instead of Samantha Soul, or that you need 100 stone to create 5 blizzard !
I know this is quite specific, but if you want to create a mod that affect the gameplay that can become useful.

Hi all. I worked on an installer and a mod manager for FF8. This installer works for both 2013 version **AND** Remaster.

You just need to put the .exe and the folder that manage the version of the mod directly in your FF8 folder, and double click on it, and here you go !

In the futur I will add many more if you like it. Could be the reference for all mods !

Releases / HobbitMod - Gameplay balance

Hi all ! I am working on a Gameplay mod that aim to balance the game. I don't call it a hard mode as the idea is more to have a challenge than really learning patterns, but it obviously increase the difficulty.
Right now I have modify until ifrit. It can be used with FFNX by adding all my files that you can find here : https://nas-ludo.fr/drive/d/s/ycCFcEyDr8CMdLmrDcbKi1D0ft5PyQ3g/y4xuyjI-zl8sxOL0k1guZT36LC3-YD_w-TrFA4M47Yws Just unzip the folder directly in your folder game, if you have ffnx it will works right away.
I would appreciate if some of you are interested in testing the mod. I have so many ideas, this is just a beginning but I can't do it alone, I need some player feedback :smile: .
For best balance, put the atb as active.

I will pin this message, so here some mains ideas on what I want to implement:
- Improve the junction system: Limit the number of magic stocked, make it more difficult to farm magic, change Gforce association (limit gforce to a specialty)
- Reduce attack damage
- Change IA, stat of all monsters
- Make object useful by limiting the magic available
- Reduce OPness of object/magic
- And many mores that I want to keep the suspense !

Don't hesitate to share any ideas, question. This is an open discussion, the mod is for the players, so don't hesitate !

F.A.Q.
- Why FFNX is needed ?
It isn't for the moment, if you need a version to be used without FFNX don't hesitate to ask. But for some bigs change, I will need FFNX in the futur so I prefer to go on this direction
- Will it works for remaster ?
Sorry, it is with the 2013 steam version in mind. Tbh this version is dirt cheap, the remaster is way too much work. I prefer to spend time making a good mod than having it ready on all format.
- How often do you want to release version ?
I work on my free time so it totally depends,  but I aim on 1 release per month.
