Sooo.. Unreal SDK?
« on: 2011-09-28 16:58:10 »
I was bored looking at demos of game engines and thought.. Isn't unreals SDK open to the public? I wonder what would happen if FF7 was built on that?

I know it never will be, But i just wanted you all to think about that :P

You need more than just an SDK and a lot of own code because FF VII is not a Quake like FPS.

I remember someone did an rpg with the starcraft 2 toolkit. That would be mostly graphical stuff and scripting.

ell you can most def use udk to make ff7 like game. Tho you would need to program the rpg guts. Udk is not "fps engine"
They used it to make unreal yes but its a game engine that can be totally reprogrammed to do w/e you want... with support for very nice gfx heh

A La, Mass Effect (although it is a shooter it is an RPG) or DmC: Devil May Cry (i hate Capcom for this one)

Maybe We can port the port on Q-Gears to it haha  ;D

Udk is not "fps engine"
While UDK can technically be used for damn near anything (even fully-2D games, if you're so inclined and have the patience to make it work), many people think of it as for FPSs, because the vast majority of commercial games that use Unreal 3 are first- or third-person shooters, and because when you make a new project it's already set up for shooters.
