General Discussion / Re: FF7PC Japanese
« on: 2007-03-18 13:19:08 »
Cromas, I assume you think that the Japanese version is better than the American?
To tell you the truth FFVII was the ONLY game I can remember where the American version was better than the Japanese version. Ours had the weapons, Emerald, and Ruby, while the Japanese versions did not. Any other game and I see cool stuff taken away (Einhander's stage select anyone?)

As far as I know, there is no Japanese version of FFVII. Sorry.

The Y is cut off. I would have chosen something instead of that frilly blend, but I don't know what... I agree that your text is ugly, but its not hard to read for me. I'm sure you already though of this, but maybe instead of fantasy, use FFVII or something.

Starting on last Friday I started a horrible trend of cr4ppyness in general. First of all I tried partitionmagic. No worries pirated it off something and then when I was off deleting my old stuff so I could try out a linux partition, IT happened. Beginning with partition magic turning my 200+GB partition into a piece of trash, I started my horrible week.

After it ruined my partition in general, I spent the whole saturday and also sunday morning trying to save my files, which I used GETDATABACK for NTFS which proved to be efficent and generally good, but only after wading though the crap in which I spent over 13 good hours trying to figure out. Eventually though I choose GETDATABACK, and it spent a good 3 hours trying to figure out the jargon that I couldn't. Well anyways I thought all was good, until I l realized that I needed an exteral hard drive to store all the information to. I had to beg for about 4 hours before I got one, and when I sent it there, I was so happy that everything was going to be OK. It took the whole night to copy, but I thought, who cares right? Everythings going to be OK.

When I later installed PCLinuxOS, I had no idea that everything was going to be so.. different. I copied everything to a nice partition for them, and then, I had a terrible problem with the mount /, in which I repartitioned my hard drive and it was just a very very bad thing. I recopied everything from the External again, and then the problem happened again. I had a good friend named Dashed on the internet help me fix this horrible error, and to my great surpise and his own, all I needed to do was mount /(namehere) and it would work. Great! When I accesed my files, I had no idea some of them would not work. It was horrible because some of the stuff was difficult to get or was now impossible for me to get. I saved the filenames, but thats only if they still exist, which I'm sure some of them don't.

Anyways, I started up Beryl, and lo and behold more errors. I wanted my resolution to be greater, and then that horrible LCD I had could not display it's non native resolution. I had to ask for some more help, in which I edited another very important display file, with the help of BadWolf. When I reinstalled PCLOS for the third time, and installed beryl with no problems, except that it had no minimize, maximize or exit, and when I listened to a few posters on some forums, I suppose I must had written some things wrong when editing my nvida files, and then it refused to work.

I broke xorg.conf... thats what the GUI in linux draws from, and after I fixed it, I realized that KDE would not start up because I for some reason had broken that too. So then I burnt BulletXP twice, and both times they did not work because for some reason I get a 0xoooooo7B error. Thats when I decided to delete my / partition and lo and behold BulletXP does not work again! I had some Dell one though, which I'm glad I kept and it worked fine. Now here are some things I would like to suggest if you are planning on trying linux.

Beware that although linux does everything windows does, it may do it "wrong". I missed foobar2000, which had unrar support (you didn't need to unzip your songs) and Irfanview in which I was able to press the directional keys to change pages. They had Amarok and Kview, which did the same thing, as they were a media player and also an image processor, but they did not act as I wanted them to.

PCLinuxOS has some odd problems. They do not automaticly correct themselves. The LCD which did not display at certain settings was a prime example of that, and most laymen would rather have an idiotproof system such as the will revert in 10 seconds found in Windows. Not sure if it does this in Ubuntu but I'm guessing its harder to break with GNOME, althought I hate the interface.

I don't mind if you laugh or if you don't understand heres what happened in layman's terms.
I broke my computer, by:

reinstalling 12x times total, of PCLinuxOS and Windows combined.

Destroying maybe 5% of data, the 5% required to run a few programs and some media.

Wasting about a week doing all of this.

Trying to learn linux while trying to get my computer to work half of the time.

Thanks for reading.

When this happened to me, I gave Cloud a summon materia and enough mana to cast it. The reason is because of something in your computer's memory address. It happened on my Dell XPS R450 (from 1998), and when that happens, cloud must kill the dragon.

Qhimm forums always has the smartest people politically, so I would like to ask my topic question. They have been featured in Ebony for being the hottest couple and all, and I just don't get it. I live in Chicago, he has done next to nothing as far as I can tell, and people love him. I originally though its because of his race, he is black (sorry if I seem a bit racist to you all) and that seems to be the case. And he is considering running for president now, and I just don't get it...
Shed some light please...

I don't like it myself but I wouldn't condemn the people who did this. After all they're going to do us a favor in the future. The problem with Alhexx's arguement is that its a ratio for 1:1 for the gain and the loss. In this case it can be millions or billions of people who will gain from this type of stem cell reasearch. Or none at all. Harvesting healthy babies is not morally acceptable, but I wouldn't hate them for it.

I read self improvement books and then end up  doing little or none of the work I am supposed to. They are fun because they sound like some 'new age bullshit' but some of it actually works! Some of them have very misleading titles, and on the slow internet I have, its the best value.

This is why the most recent system I have is a Dreamcast. lol I never got why people would buy (to me) an outdated computer for hundreds of dollars. The reason that I never buy new systems instantly is that:
1 Many of the early games don't take full advantage of their system. Imagine playing a DS without the touchscreen.
2 A better version is coming out later. No need to buy an inferior product for more money, and maybe even buy a new version of it.
3 I don't have the money >.>

i would actually trust Muslims more than any other religion. Saladin didn't kill Christians like Richard the Lionheard did, he just let everyone be. However I agree the most with chaoscontrol.

I personally used IE through Maxthon, which was like a Firefox on steriods, because for whatever reason, Firefox was very very very slow for me. I used it up until recently, when I started using the robust code of Opera.
My question to you all is this:

What you currently use
What exactly do you want in your browser
What makes your browser better
What do you love the most about your browser
What would make your browser better

I like Opera because it is so fast, and it fixes minor issues (like accidental tab delete)
So far, Opera is the fastest for me
I like the minor convienience that it gives me
Some stuff from Maxthon (built in AD block, drag and drop links, highlight links to tab, non-standard opera engine for BT, and IRC)

« on: 2006-11-14 05:02:17 »
Pretty cool.

Hey, that bad boy drops in a couple of days, doesn't it?

Anyway, this leads into an anecdote of very little humour:

My PS2 was giving me troubles, going as far as to "sputter" and actually scratch discs! Fortunately, I had a warranty and could easily replace it. At the same time, however, I had just received quite the windfall of money and didn't want to deal with the hassle of continually replacing it. So, I went into the local EB and picked up a PStwo without doing the proper research. I kept it in the box, and looked it up, and saw people complaining of it burning out due to poor ventilation; after seeing that, I returned it, and got my PS2 replaced after driving all the way uptown to find one of the only refurbished PS2's in town that could replace mine.

With that said, I think it's fair to say that the PStwo suffered from the problem of poor ventilation. The Xbox does seem to heat up quite a bit, too, but not to the extent that it's a huge problem. The PS2 for the most part stays fairly cool.

I'm glad to see they remedied the problem of the PStwo with the PS3.
So is there a solution to the PStwo?

I agree with James. It is a waste to spend so many resources on this one horrible person. Just because we can keep him alive doesn't mean that we should though. A civilized scociety wouldn't kill him, but we are FAR from being civilized in the ways that you are thinking.

About Hitler, I actually admire him somewhat because to me, he was the only honest politican ever...

THX for not biting my head off Jari.  :-D
You changed my mind about everything, except that I still think that it would be wasteful if we didn't kill Saddam. Maybe some cruel and unusual punishment by bringing him back to Iraq and giving him only a few meals a week?

Well I think that someone in his situation should be... "Make like JeSuS and forgive". Hahaha, but I think that if anything he should have cruel and unusual punishment. I mean, everytime we send a man to life, all they do is to continue to be a drain on resources, and the taxpayers pay for the life of a horrible man. And I don't think he would ever become a martyr, and even if he did, what difference does it make? We don't go about saying "Oh poor Saddam, why did they kill him..". And not all Islamics are bad Jari >.> I've never heard of that last 'martyr' either. And people love bin Laden, not Saddam >.> If we killed bin Laden then we would truly be fucked.
