If all the tracks are as good as in the demo, this is epic.

"These tracks will not loop correctly in FFVII due lack of cue support in mp3"

So you can't use them in-game? :? I thought Ficedula's music thing could loop mp3s.

Oh yea, amazing stuff!

Ofcourse you can use them in-game and it will loop, but what i meant was...it will not loop like the midi.
Like the track of Opening ~ Bombing Mission, where the loop normally begins AFTER the Opening piece and now it will loop the whole mp3 and therefore you will hear the opening again :)

I hope i make sense :)

Actually, the game doesn't use the full bombing mission theme as that one is encoded in the video, only the short version (bombing mission part).  So for a use in-game, we should cut down the begining movie part (using audacity or some other software).

Any chance for a torrent? I can't stand the thought of anyone paying for piracy, which would be the real reason the majority would even have a premium RS account to begin with, it's just wrong to reap profits off piracy if you ask me.

Sorry no torrent from me, but i dont understand the problem with megaupload or 4shared. I dont have a premium account and I always have max download speed (320kb/s. Only have to wait for like 45 sec but heck, its free and not too long for a 100MB file

FF7Music uses WinAMP plugin, so it can play mo3 with in_bass.dll.(The problem is, you cannot play mp3 or ogg along with mo3, because of some reason, in_base.dll try to play mp3 or ogg, causing no bgm(if you assigned mp3 or ogg) when it should be.  I learned how to make mo3 file using a whole .wav somewhere, although that site is long gone, I can provide a sample to tell how-to.
Here's Sample .it file (http://www.4shared.com/file/81675667/bb7c13dc/FF7-X01-Comical_Unused_.html).  Open it with any tracker, and look.  To make it .mo3, you need mo3 converter provided by Un4seen homepage, with mp3 or vorbis encoder.

Some of the tracks sound a bit strange, not how I'd expect, but the majority are very good indeed.

I'd give it a "picky bastard" 8/10 rating all together.  :-P

hehe i know exactly what you mean...but i gave it my all to let them all sound the way i felt when i first played FFVII on the PSX.
The problem is...MIDI instruments dont always sound as real instruments...so i had to deal with complicated stuff like different velocities, volumes, reverb, panning and convert that to real instruments.
And i lack the studio monitors for better sound control/mastering so the music will not sound the same with everybody because of changes in type of speakers, configurations etc.

Thanks for the 8 though  :-D

windows pretty much fails at music editing :/
the only thing thats anything like "garageband" or one of them is something called "mixcraft", but it's nothing compared to a mac.
if there is something for windows that's even a bit as good, let me know too ;)

There are plenty of packages for Windows, but they are all pretty difficult to use, nothing as simple as Garageband (although that's extremely limited anyway). Only Macs get Logic Pro, but you can get stuff like Cubase & Reason on Windows too.

Thanks all for the nice comments, much appreciated  :D

I love your prelude remake. Is it possible to know what software do you use? Probably you made that under a MAC but I want to know if it's possible to do something like this on windows.

I use Cakewalk Sonar 8 Producer Edition on Windows Vista x64. I switched from Cubase SX3 to Sonar 8 since Vista x64 doesnt support Cubase SX3 and i heard that Cubase 4 is very buggy on all OS.
And yea...you need 64-bit for producing media these days :D

Don't know where people got the idea that professional studios (dont have one) all have Mac to produce music or video for that matter...its not true! I visited some studio's where they mainly have Windows XP (and Vista) 64bit...
Mac lacks "good" audio peripherals for professional audio equipment.
Its more a hype to have a Mac then really need one.

windows pretty much fails at music editing :/
the only thing thats anything like "garageband" or one of them is something called "mixcraft", but it's nothing compared to a mac.
if there is something for windows that's even a bit as good, let me know too ;)

Somehow, it didnt fail for me
No crashes here...my system is running smoothly and very stable :)
Garageband is cute for testing things out, but limited in advanced options.

Hey there again!

First off I just want to say I really enjoyed the remasters, it really breaths some new life into the soundtrack and likewise into the game.
Not to turn this thread into a f.a.q. on how to get these into FF7music but I think the files themselves won't respond to the programs cues.  I cued up all the filenames to the mp3s and it is still dead silence.  I'm using in_mp3.dll and out_wave.dll to no avail  :?
I don't think it has something to do with the ini unless I'm wrong on this.

windows definitely does not fail at music editing. it may not have garage band or logic but it has tons of other programs that are just as good or better. reason and ableton come to mind immediately. i use a pc for all my music editing and creating and have never had a single issue.

Hi,

I'm currently coding a PSP homebrew game in C, called Final Fantasy VII - The Complete Saga.

The plan is to create a homebrew rpg, which contains the story of FFVII Crisis Core, FFVII, and Advent Children.
My original plan was to use the original midi files as music, but i recently noticed this on the torrents.
The description contained a link to this thread :)

Could i use this music in my game?

If needed i'll post screenshots, not great yet though, i only got zack/cloud running around on a field ATM xD

Thanks in Advance,

Thomly

(PS: I do not know why, but i followed a link to this thread in a forum i have never been, and i am logged in as someone called LimitBreak lol
I AM NOT that person)

Well i was thinking about remastering even an older one "FINAL FANTASY VI", since its also one of my favorite soundtracks.
Sadly, my school started right about the time i released the FINAL FANTASY VII Remastered Soundtrack so im quite busy atm :( (im in my last year of university) Ill keep you up-to-date when i will start the project 8-)

Sure you may use it, but dont forget the credits  8-)

Thanks for letting me use your files, off course you will be in the credits, if my project will ever release that is... (being realistic)

Well i followed the link on the torrent at thepiratebay from my pc at home, so it wouldn't be a public pc.

Maybe it's possible that following that link gets you logged in in the account of the poster of the link?

Good job on these.

However you say these are based on high quality samples of the midi ?

Do you mean as in a soundfont ?  Because I was under the impression a soundfont was simply a different set of instrument samples which is what you did right ?

I'm only asking since ff7music can be somewhat picky and incompatible as The Skilster mentioned so being able to get these in game through soundfont (or gm.dls replacement) would not only solve that issue but also make them loop correctly.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I skipped from the first to the 3rd page!

The music is not like a soundfont :-D

I processed and rearranged the original midi files, to be compatible with the high quality samples. These samples are actually real instrument recordings which can be used in a way so that midi data can trigger the right sample (like note, velocity, pitch, modulation)

Another question then : Would it be possible to repackage your arranged tracks into the midi.lgp (or whatever the game calls it) and convert your instruments to a soundfont then ?

PS : It might show that I don't know much about midis nor soundfont!

Great work man.

Say, I wanted to remaster my OST collection myself too,
could you give me some directions on how to convert my midis to high quality real instruments like you did?

I have Cubase that I got from my friend but I have no clue on how to use it (nor does he, I suppose). Do I need anything else?

I would really appreciate if you just gave me the basics.

Thanks in advance

The only way for this to work with FFVII ingame is with Ficedula's FFVIIMusic Mod.
You could see the instruments as a SoftSynth, but then with a 40GB library of samples behind it :)

The basics are really simple when you do a little research .
You have a MIDI track which contains data like note, pitch, modulation, velocity etc.
Now you have to set it up so that a program ,"SoftSynth" or "VST" can use that data to trigger its samples (like instrument notes)
To "plug" these VST in Cubase, search with google or check the manual that came with Cubase. It should be very easy to do...theres a VST Instruments button somewhere or in the menubar.
You can select one of these (if proper installed) and then you can setup a track with the midi data so that the output is the VST instrument.

Dont know if you can afford the bucks for EWQL Symphonic Orchestra GOLD and EWQL Colossus (i bought them a month too early because they now have a nice new softsynth engine)
EWQL Symphonic Orchestra with the new engine is now (only) $495.00 which is really cheap for the quality you get. Or you can get the Silver Edition which has less instruments and articulations but its
$195.00
EWQL Colossus (or now Goliath) is $449 which contains basically all kinds of instruments but is not specialiest.
check: http://www.soundsonline.com

You could also check Native Instruments Komplete 5 (if you want a whole package) or if you just want the samples for orchestra, check Vienna Symphony Library and listen to demo's
check: http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=komplete5&L=1 or http://vsl.co.at/

Remember, you will need plenty of space on your hdd (like 50GB) for samples alone.
Everything i know is self taught so be patient.  :-D

Note:
I will not give any further type of support, search for other forums on the internet since i dont want to make this thread off-topic

Thanks for the answer, that's a great start.
I'll do some research on my own and hope to come up with something.

And I'll be looking forward for that FF6 OST remastered, good luck!

Excuse me, but what midi data did you use?(I mean, XG or GM?)  If I were about to get correct loop start~loop end point, I need to know..

**Currently listening 'Those who fight further' Black Mage version and S.S.H. version..

I believe it was the GM version, not sure though...
I downloaded a zipped archive with the MIDI's since my CD's of the PC version are somehow damaged

Two question:
First, how exactly are they considered remastered? I downloaded the fourth CD and played my favorite song, One-Winged Angel. But all got was a dull version of my OST One-Winged Angel reverbrating into a large hall and then coming through a yard hose. Is it supposed to be that way or is it just because something with my computers and MP3 is wrong? All other songs are also too soft, too blurred for the ear.

Second, are these legal?

FleetCommand, these songs are the midi versions having been run through software that basically plays better instruments than MS's terrible GS midi patchset. Especially notice that pianos and brass instruments sound much more realistic.

Listen to Still More Fighting to really tell the difference; that song is amazing when it's used with a decent distortion guitar instrument.

REALLY?! Oh, thanks God! You know, at first I did think it should probably be so but then I assumed if it was so, there should have been no vocal singing in One-Winged Angel, especially with the same pronounciation ambiguities. Apparently, I was wrong, wasn't I?

Please forgive me for being unable to congratulate you. I'm sure you were through some efforts creating these but the despair that took over me after I so entusiastically downloaded these still does not let me to write an honest congratulation (and I don't want to be dishonest). Perhaps when I replace these in the game, my brother and my sister, who play this game, would be surprised enough to do the congratulation.

Maybe it strikes as peculiar for you, but everyone has his or her own taste of music. So don't be surprised that I still prefer Microsoft GS music because this remastered version absolutely lacks sharp sounds. Now, I'm not into musics with a lot of Bass and lots of booms and bangs. But I percieved the A.B.S.O.L.U.T.E lack of sharp sounds as something wrong.

Of course my taste wasn't always like this. When I was younger... well, my taste of music was different.

Ey,
I know what you mean and yes, MIDI files are meant to be alot sharper since they dont have 'depth' :D

One Winged Angel could be done better if i had the time to limit it with a multi compressor

The thing is, im not a professional audio engineer, i know the basics and i know how to make it 'sharper' but i guess the main issue is that you didnt calibrate your speakers :P
I have run these through studio monitors and it seemed fine to me even on my Logitech Z2300 with alot of bass :)
So try cranking up your treble, maybe thats what your looking for  :-D

"Now, I'm not into musics with a lot of Bass and lots of booms and bangs" This is exaclty what OWA is suppose to sound like (referring to Orchestral versions) :D

EDIT:
Try picking music with piano only to calibrate your setup, it might help getting the sharpness
BTW, MIDI is TOOO sharp in my opinion...its not that silly considering its only digital bleeps :P

I sincerly think there is a "yes" in the middle of your message which completely changes the meaning of it.

but i guess the main issue is that you didnt calibrate your speakers :P
I'm afraid I don't think so.

Yes, and I'm not into this kind of music due to their headsplitting quality, yet I still precieved MP3s as dull. Is that something wrong with that?

MP3 UPDATE #1
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ERG05R5Q

Together with The Favs (@ffshrine.org), we tried to get a proper duration of all tracks by looping to match the PSX Original Soundtrack as close as we can.
I redid them not to only loop properly, but some even to sound better!

1-11 - Victory Fanfare - Now its looped properly 2 times meaning the duration is now 1:02 which is close to the 0:53 of the OST version

1-06 - Barret's Theme - Now its looped properly with my own original timpani's

1-22 - Crazy Motorcycle
- Now its looped properly and i also replaced the drumkit to a more punchy one to match the original as close as possible (SWEET!)

3-09 - Wutai - Now looped properly with the proper timpani's which where somehow off when i exported my original rearrangement

4-02 - Weapon Raid - Now looped properly with the proper timpani's. The midi notes of the timpani midi track were somehow not at the right key. I also had to seperate the timpani, snare and cymbal

4-15 - Birth of the God - Now looped properly with a duration of 4:00. Your going to love this one, i redid the guitar sound since it didnt sound as muted as i thought. Also, i added some nice drum fills between the looping points and at the end of the track to close it properly

4-16 - One-Winged Angel - Now looped properly. I also increased the volume of the snare kit and timpani's to add some depth and power

Wow, thanks! means alot :P

I used the original MIDI from the PC version as a base since i dont own a midi controller keyboard (yet) so its impossible to make them from scratch and sound as the original ones (cause that was my goal, therefor i used the term remastered instead of rearranged or remixed.)
I wouldnt consider myself as a good composer...but im getting better at mastering alot of tracks together :P

Its not a direct conversion.
See it more as processing MIDI data to instruments (or samples) to make it sound better

If you really want an easy program i suggest Garageband. Its so basic, it cant be complicated :)

I recommend viewing some videotutorials (mine came with 10 or so basic tutorials) or search some forums for help

Ey, very well spotted :D i always review my own work, but i didnt even noticed that 'stupid' flaw :) i guess i was too busy.
Its now FIXED with a reverse Cymbal although the original has a very long (synthesis) one. To make it more realistic, i added a normal reverse cymbal that a orchestra can do without digital effects.
I also added 2 quick Orchestra hit @ 1:30

I will add it to the collection that The Favs made and reupload CD1 (sorry) so keep checking this thread as i will upload it soon

Hello, im new to this forum. Im found this whole thing by finding the music on demonoid. I found it very good and interesting. Im a big nobuo uematsu fan and i liked what you did with the music. What i wanted to know is if you could give a list on all the things you used to make the music so i can give it a shot with remastereing some of my favorite songs that are in MIDI format.

Are EWQL Symphonic Orchestra GOLD and EWQL Colossus, Cubase, and Native Instruments Komplete 5 the only thing needed to do what you did to those songs or are there any other software that was used. I really want to do this right.

Hi,
Those are the main VST i use but then with SONAR instead of Cubase (which is a good DAW aswell) and i can assure you, thats the only thing you need for a complete orchestra, rock and dance/techno kind of music. Although im using RealGuitar and RealStrat with GuitarRig 3 for a better guitar sound than EWQL can offer with Colossus or NI with Komplete 5
You should also consider a good MIDI Controller when you want to make your own music (im saving money for it :P)

Last but not least, it will require patience and a good ear :P
Im still learning new things and im working with DAW's like Cubase and SONAR for 2 years now

I had to register just to thank you for this rearragement. It's plain awesome, even the battle theme turned out so great i like it better than the original. overall i really enjoy playing through ff7 again just because of your work.

It took a while to realise that this is a fan work and not an official release!

Now i just have to figure out how to set loop points in wav files and manage ff7music to recognize it for a seamless experience. Any ideas or hint at another file format? - Notice i will only do that for me and respect your desicion to release this as a listening experience rather than a game mod.

cheers  :-)

Some of the music sounds better in places and some sounds rather offish.

certain instruments are annoying like in "hurry"

Overall it is a real good job and I will be keeping some of them.

Hey finalfantim, first, I want to thank you for spending your time, remaking ff7 ost. I notice your mp3s are without cover. So I have made one for myself, and to share with you and anyone viewing this thread.

Just a simple cover (Fan of Tifa), touch up here and there. 600x600. Hope you guys like it!
I will place this cover at my blog as well. Thanks again.

Hey man if ya serious about making covers...why not make separate ones for each disk? as FinalFanTim did with the remakes...So why not provide for each "disc" right?

Let's say put all the leading ladies in the cover...Like The Tifa you have just made back to back with Cloud and next Aeris/th Back to Back with Barret..

and Yuffie back to back with Cid or Vincent...And Make the Final cover with smiling RED XIII and Caith Sith for a surprise package hehehe...

Just a suggestion though...Hope you'll listen.

Well any decent reciever can matrix 5.1 into 7.1. And spdif can only handle 5.1 max. So unless everyone is using hdmi connections or have crazy speaker setups for their computers i think 5.1 would be best.

Well...Putting the whole track on a single cover would be pretty ...you know..hmm.loss for words there..But ya get what I mean right?

Let's say put the Disc 1 track on the back with the pic of Tifa there ( The First cover not the CD cover), Then put disc 2 tracks on Clouds Cover pic and so on...

Or have ya seen some of the Beatles Re-release albums?..I mean the 4 pc Cd set that has multiple covers?...I mean this is Final Fantasy VII where talking about right?..That should do the trick and since where on cover pics..why not place the rest of the gang..Some scenes maybe nice..( a Lucky 7 bar rendition with Cloud and Tifa talking in the foreground, Aerith's church with Cloud and Aerith taking care of the Flower bed,  Sephiroth's One-Winged Angel visual version, How about 12 Knights Kneel before Cloud as their 13th King of some sort..heheh)

The possibilities are endless though..Hope ya like my suggestions though... Ganbare!!! Yosh!>>>>>>IKOU!

@Sir Kudistos Megistos

You're quite right there...I was suggesting some Fan-based fantasy Ideas of mine ( especially the 12 Knights thing...But its kinda cool isn't it?..Seeing as the 12 Knights Materia  are not that easy to acquire..So Cloud taking over as their owner becomes the king who the knights kneel to..that was lengthy..) :-D

@The Fav

Thanks for appreciating my ideas..But as for the real pics..I mean If you have the superb skills as an artist (more probably a GOD at one!) You might come up with ways to make this come true..I mean besides your genius There are other fans who might come up with something to materialize this "images" to life.. I hope I can find them though..Or maybe you know someone already? That will be awesome!!!!!..I'll try to render some but I'm not that good of an artist ( Don't even know how to tackle Photoshop? ..I know its humiliating!?..Sue me)

I hope this reaches other aspiring Cover artists who can help..I mean it cannot be done by one man alone right?...

Yosh!!! Ganbare!!!!

Final fan tim, Not sure if your still kicking about, but I figure I'd give a critique of any peices that need some tweaks

opening : around :29, the wood block echo needs to be more pronounced

Hurry!: Something a little less high pitched for the tick tock

Turk's theme: You have something of a cymbal at the beginning, I beleive its supposed to be a maraka or some shaken percussion

Still more fighting : Needs a different guitar, Sorry I can't be of more help there :/

That's all i spotted on a quick run through disc 1, I may put more up, might now, I'm not sure if you're even up for fixing any of yer tracks further.

-this is not to demean your work, just constructive criticism, I think all the tracks you've made are wonderful!

No worries, i can take criticism, its how i keep learning to do better

The truth is, i dont always know what instruments were intended to be used with the PSX version due limitations of the sound chip.
I always pick the instruments that sound 'logic' to me.

I used a tambourine on Turk's theme cause i think its more 'western' than a shaker. I used the shaker with Yuffie's theme for instance.

I have a different guitar sound since recently, so i might look into it :D

Thanks all for the nice comments!
Im currently working on FFVI OST Remastered:

EDIT:
Still More Fighting: Well, i fixed the guitar with a more distortion one instead of a 'overdrive only' :)

I am working on a slight fix on this great OST. As some of you may have already noticed, the songs have some empty space on their beginning, and the ending isn't the possible for good looping. Currently I am working on these issues. I am cutting the empty space from the songs' beginning and cutting a part from their end, making the looping sound as good as possible.

But I don't have much time, so it may take to the end of the week to get CD1 done. But wait patiently.

HAHA  :-D So basically every FF out there, well unfortunatly i dont have the time due to school/work. If SQUARE ENIX could only sponsor me...id be happy to share some royalties

I was only kidding, because I saw that everyone was requesting their favourite FF game's soundtrack to be done

I know, it would be cool on my resumé though

Not that I find any of these requests relevant, but if Finalfantim were to do any more remakes, it should be for FFV. It's never been done before and it'd be easier for him to do.

BUTZ more importantly (hehe...Butz...) *AHEM* I am working on album art for Final Fantasy VI Remastered, but I'm not sure what direction to take it.

The first cover is like this, yellow clouds and beams of light, like the final fighting stage with Kefka:

http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/6236/finalfantasyviremastere.jpg

The second one is with dark clouds and lightning, like the opening to FF6:

http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/6236/finalfantasyviremastere.jpg

These are not their final drafts. They still need a lot of work. They're too dark, but I just want to know what you all think. What direction should I take? Should I go with the first one or the second one?

Its nice, but be sure to keep the readability clear..."prevent dark on dark or light on light" (a qoute from my design class teacher)

If you had read the last line, I said that "They're too dark." I know it's hard to read. I just wanted to know which style I should go with: the clouds and sunbeams (final battle stage), or the clouds and lightning (FF6 opening)? :?

Thank you very much!
This album has been updated tremendously, so check this time as it will soon be reuploaded

This new package will include all the fixes and changes but more importantly, the tracks are all LOOPING and fading out like the ORIGNAL SOUNDTRACK! (thanks to TheFavs)

Garr.

What do you mean "all tracks are redone for looping"?
Does that mean every single track now supports it and I need to redownload your musics and trim the edges off for ff7music?

I mean, it'd be a great improvement, but more work for me.  XD

Hehe yea, thats what i meant by putting '' on happy in my reply in your thread :) Sorry, cant help it, thats the way most people wanted...to be soundtrack like.
Its technically the same, but now loops in the track itself so its more like the OST of the PSX version which loops and fade out.

You only have to do the tracks i listed as "instrumental improvements" though (and some are the same as the versions with (Loop) behind the filename :)

It doesnt work with looping ingame, but the tracks have a longer duration now because its looped once or twice to match the PSX Original Soundtrack. Its just for listening pleasure...not a technical improvement for FF7Music :P I hope i made myself clear now   :-)

Just took a look at the new version, love the new "the birth of god".

I have a question though - are you ever going to add the bells into the mako reactor song? In my opinion, that was one of the things that made the song for me, don't really know why you didn't include them.

Other than that, this remastered soundtrack is awesome!

FinalFanTim What soft synth were you using for the guitar sound in "For Those Who Fight Further"?

I was messing around with my new sonar 8 and took a stab at for "those who fight further"
I'm trying to get my guitar to sound closer to the original song

Nice Drum :D

I use the softsynth RealStrat together with GuitarRig 3. (the audio output of RealStrat has the audioFX GuitarRig 3 applied to it. I used a Gratifier amp together with a Mezone Distortion and i screwed around with the cabs and mics

Nice spot on Mako Reactor! How could any of us have missed that? :-o

Another thing I just noticed is how Fighting doesn't have the tambourine or cymbal taps in the beginning, like it does in the original. It gives it that faster paced feel to it.

I hate to bother you for this but I'm reworking the files in my iTunes to get this organized (I'm OCD about my iTunes) and the least amount of work for me (ie not redownloading and editing all the song info again) would be to download the updated files (which I didn't keep untrimmed XD).

So.
I'm not sure if you kept the download links for your updates but if you did that'd be swell.   :-D

That's a good start, but I also want all the track updates listed on the front page.  They had megaupload links under them and there were 3 updates in total.

Being the neat freak I am I clean out my downloads folder (terrible habbit).
On the other hand I have less than 100 gigs left.

Also, this one's drivn' me nuts:
Under the rotting pizza.  The bass seems a little on the synth side in the original and the cymbals sound slightly off (though the cymbals could just be because the low quality of the ost).

Ey,

Well thats because the cymbal is just 1/4 beat after the normal beat. This is how it suppose to be sounding like and its completly normal in the music world :P. It might sound 'weird' or 'off-beat' but its just like swing music :P

Im not touching it anymore

So i've been messing around a bit with a winamp plugin that i found on the net called inwinampac3.dll or WinampAC3 that allows decoding of multi channel audio. I wonder if it would be possible to mix these in 5.1 finalfantim? Just a thought that piqued my interest.

Your kiddin me? I already have enough trouble mastering 2 channels

Now...for the bad news:
FINAL FANTASY VI (6) OST Remastered Project has been canceled!

I recently (after FFVII OST Remastered) studied the art of 'proper' mastering techniques. I mastered FFVII OST Remastered in my own way, but it could even sound better if i knew the proper mastering techniques back then. Unfortunatly, proper mastering takes about an additional 3 to 5 hours to complete (depending on the genre/instruments used) on top of the 4 hours correcting midi data for samples. Because im a perfectionist, i want to master my tracks proper but given by the amount of time that will take (8 hours * ~ 60 tracks = 480 UNPAID hours ). So decided not to go through since i also have other stuff going on (university/work)

So....now for THE GOOD NEWS!:
When i was practicing mastering etc...i just opened a random midi file that i had stored on my computer and it was FINAL FANTASY IX - Battle Theme. I was messing around with it, and it started to sound rather nice. One problem....it was really loopy to be a full feature track. So...i searched my brain for my  basic chord knowlegde and made my own arranged version of it (so not only remastered, but also REARRANGED)

Here is the result...Battle Not Alone!:

Thank you!  :-D I'm glad you liked it! I was waiting to post up the final parts of the OST so that when I put this on DeviantArt with the links to the newer songs, the people will see this and know changes were made. Who's Deidara? From Naruto or Elder Scrolls IV?

d33eniz, I'm flattered that you're using my art work for the videos. But if you want to make it look real nice, I mean, not all stretched out, then use these I made especially for you:

Here's an idea you can use: Have the song start out with the album cover (1st pic), then change to it's respective disc picture, then change to the back cover pic for the rest of the song. I'm just throwing that out there. Catch it if you like.

And be sure to make the credits right: Composed by Nobuo Uematsu; Arranged by Final Fantim; Art by The Favs; brought to you by d33eniz!   Thanks again! You're the man!

So decided not to go through since i also have other stuff going on (university/work)
Final Fantim, you're saying that you remastered FFVII your own way, and it sounded like that? I think it sounded PERFECT!  :-D So you're telling me that you can make FF6 sound just like your FF7 Remastered soundtrack? That's perfect enough for us! You say you're a perfectionist, but FF7 Remastered was perfect! 'Nough said!  8-) Don't bother with all that other stuff if it'll take you forever! Your way is the perfect way! But I won't tell you how to live your life.   Just letting you know it's perfect.

.......

...um... I think that about covers it. Alright. Ahmen.

I suppose this is way off topic, but I'm quite curious.

Does fmt=18 (HQ etc) have better sound quality than standard youtube format?
I know it won't always but I'm wondering if they also lose some audio quality as well as video quality in youtube standard.
Title: FINAL FANTASY VII OST (Remastered Edition) ~by Final FanTim~
Post by: Kudistos Megistos on 2009-09-13 17:04:16
I'm not sure whether "HQ" has better sound quality than the videos that used to be the standard on YouTube, however...

Nearly all of the videos are in high quality now, even if you don't have fmt=18 at the end. AFAIK putting fmt=18 in the url became unnecessary quite a while ago.

Deniz, great job! Perfect job, actually! I have a hard time getting my videos to come out in quality like that. How do you do it?

Thanks! Making Videos is my job :D
I'm using Sony Vegas 8 HD Pro- and following Render-preferences (you can use following preferences in the most cases for HD-Uploads):

* Rendering @1280x720x32
* Video Bitrate @2000kbit/s
* Audio Bitrate @192kbit/s
* Video Container: *.wmv
* Video Codec : Xvid
* Audio Codec : MP3

Thanks again :-)

@willis936 & Kudistos Megistos:
If you're watching a YouTube Video, which is HD-READY (so if you haven't clicked on the HD-Button yet) the Video will be played in HQ- so you don't have to listen to the OST in HD- the Sound won't be better (or just a lil bit, you won't feel or hear the difference).
But if you watch a YouTube Video which is HQ-READY (so if you haven't clicked on the HQ-Button yet) the video Quality will be played in the worst quality YouTube provides.
If you're watching a YouTube Video where is no HQ and HD Button, you can try adding 'fmt=18' at the end of the YouTube Link to make the Video HQ. This little 'hack' makes just sense by older videos at YouTube- in most cases they're at least HQ-Ready.

Xvid and MP3 in a wmv container? I never would have thought to try that; I typically only use .wmv with windows media codecs.

[OFF-TOPIC MODE]
Making video is actually my 'future' job too....to be more specific, making VFX and Motion Graphics :D
But man...im having trouble with After Effects CS4 and Premiere Pro CS4. They crash radomly....render options are limited (i guess more user-friendly for non pro's) so im thinking about switching back to AE CS3 and Sony Vegas (which was a audio editing program from origin)

Im now studying RealFlow (which are used for making CGI liquids). Its not that complicated really and you can get some really nice result when used properly.

Xvid and MP3 in a wmv container? I never would have thought to try that; I typically only use .wmv with windows media codecs.

WMV9 is much better when you dont know anything about advanced XviD setup. Xvid has great quality/size ratio ONLY when configured manually...but boy...that requires alot of test work...where WMV9 has some nice presets and will do in most cases
Since im more of a post process kinda guy, i do everything uncompressed or with Quicktime PHOTO JPEG Q95

@Covarr:
I use this settings just for YouTube HD Uploads- the filesize is really small, Quality is great and YouTube can handle it :) It's the best mix :)

@finalfantim:
Wow, sounds nice- when I said, thats my job, I didn't mean it serious ;) I'm just *show-off* good at it :P

I know Adobe Premiere- I used CS2 and I know that it needs a HIGH-END PC- my notebook can't handle it ;) And it needs 20 minutes to encode the videos for the OST- too long for 3 pic's and one audio track. I'm looking for a better one :)

*|OST- Yipppppieeeeh! 10 Tracks uploaded today!|*

Oh, the "pro's" from Adobe are saying:
"If you want to use Adobe Premiere CS4 without studdering, you need at least 12GB of ram and a Quad Core i7 Processor with 4@3,17Ghz and a good Graphic-card- like a Nvidia 280GTX or an ATI 4850HD"
My laptop can't handle it, really xD

But go on, you could do stuff like that ;)

Hehe those specs are for HD usage (like 1080p or even higher cinema settings like 2k or 3k)
Problem that i have is the result of releasing CS4 a year after CS3. this was never reasonable to begin with, not with the amount of changes they made but because of the tuxedo's....they had to release it :P

Ah. Just to clarify, I have the "always play higher-quality video when it's available" playback option checked, so I rarely have to click HQ and only use fmt=18 for very old videos.

I wouldn't call rock, punk, rap or any kind of sound that isn't beautiful for music.

punk/rap/r&b/hip-hop agreed :P

Rock however is sometimes implemented with good melodies and composition, so...thats why i like "certain" rock  :-D

My favorite music: Epic Orchestral game/film music

Excuse me, but am I the only one or is it really missing something from 'Highwind Takes to the Skies'?  :?

No you are correct. Highwind Takes to the Skies is missing some horns and a bassoon (i guess) because (believe it or not) activates/deactivates random when exporting. Meaning when i export it, there's a chance the horns/bassoon will be in it and sometimes it wont. I was spending (not kiddin) 4 hours looking for a cause and i guess its a wrong CC Midi data, but i couldn't find it. Sorry for the minor glitch but im not going to try and fix it again :D.

Certainly...I found this article very useful when mastering audio:
http://www.modernbeats.com/hit-talk/mastering-audio-with-t-racks-3

It may look like a specific guide for that particular VST, but you can use that knowledge on every similar VST :)

IIRC...

Any chance of doing FFVIII?

Maybe but not in the near future :)

and

I dont know about working with him, composing along side him I'd feel like a dork. chilling out with him, that'd be awesome. an interviewer from IGN spent a day or two with him and a translator, they walked his dog, and sat all afternoon drinking beer as the interview was conducted. Apparently his wife is also very nice. (nobuo is a super chill "nice guy")

I'm very sceptical about language learning software; it always seems to good to be true, and most people who use them have said they haven't been helpful enough to justify the cost.

I find that Rosetta stone isn't the best I've learned some words But they start giving you images where you either aren't sure what they are talking about (or i'm just over thinking..)

One i remember specifically is I think it was (and forgive me as i can't write in nihongo or) "wakai onnanohito" Or something like that And in the image it was a women moving, So i assumed it meant walking, Though i think i looked it up and google disagreed..

Another one was a boy that seemed he was jumping. but he could have also been hopping, maybe he was leaping. So i wasn't sure what the word meant...

But maybe i'm just overthinking it.. I'm sure halkun can clear things up haha

I haven't learnt Japanese (besides a few basic phrases that keep popping up in anime), but I do have a bit of language learning experience (more than most native English speakers, at any rate).

If you want to learn a language without going to a class or a place where it is spoken, you need to put in a lot of effort. Whatsmore, you must always try to read and listen to material that was aimed at native speakers, because stuff aimed at learners usually has simple vocabulary and sentence structure, and is more carefully pronounced than it would be in a normal conversation. Trying to learn by following a single self-contained course such as can often be found in language learning software usually won't work very well, unless you only want to learn the basics of the language (and I can't see why someone would only want to learn the basics of Japanese).

Does anyone know of any kids shows in Japanese? Because my mother said that she learned english when she was around twenty-ish by watching Sesame Street. And that makes sense. Kids learn the language from the bottom up. So that should be the case with anyone who wants to learn a language, right?

Anyone know of Jap shows like Sesame Street? Maybe that'd help FFtim. I know I'd like that. Because just watching anime in Japanese wouldn't be very helpful (least not to me).

If you want something simple and easy to understand in Japanese, watch FLCL.

No wait, that's not even easy to understand for a native speaker of the language. Nevermind.

[OFFTOPIC]
I was researching Rosetta Stone on the internet ...but indeed. I think with Level 1 (first basic course), you can understand Japanese.....like a baby/child. So when children say: women is moving, he/she means walking.

But i think when you buy (and thats my main problem ) level 2 and 3, you can really start making sense to japanese people (not fully ofcourse) :P
Although i like the approach of Rosetta Stone, cause when you think about it....my native language is dutch, but you always learn japanese from translation to english (or i have to take expensive master classes)
So when you want to order something, your mind translate the dutch word, translates it to English and translate it back to Japanese :P I think that wont happen with the Rosetta aproach[/OFFTOPIC]

BTW, watch this forum frequently because im thinking of releasing my unfinished cd1 of FINAL FANTASY VI (6) OST Remastered

I've finished hearing them. There are some quite good, but there are better sound fonts for the string version. Main Theme was very good the fact that you bring the importance of basson that practically wasn't heared in the originals. The oboe it's horrible and the whistle should be dissimulated. The truth it's that those tracks have made me remember when I arranged a compilation of FFVII for a Band and how disappointed i were because when you throw the music of FFVII of their original soundfonts they lack something and need a very thougthfully rearrangement to make them sound like the FF concertos.

My apologies for my bad English. Don't take too hard my criticisms and I'm looking forward to see new remasterizations from you.

Thats why its called remastered, not rearranged...:P And thats one of the reasons i canceled this project, i want to rearrange some tracks rather spending my time on re-mastering a whole OST :-P
But what whistle and what did u meant by dissimulated? you mean like blending more into the background?
Anyway, its labeled as Unreleased Tracks :P....i heard official SE unreleased tracks that sounded more horrible

Oh no no, I wasn't refering to the unreleased tracks of FFVI. And you are right where one of the most dissapointing cds of FF i've ever heard. The whistle is on: The great Northern Cave, while the horrendous oboe it's playing there's a whistle that even gets more in your ears. Maybe would be better exchange that kind of whistle for a soundfont of a flute or a Piccolo.

Well it's arranged, but you need to do a step more forward. For example when Trumpet gets in sounds like nothing lacks the depth because it's only a voice. If you want it to sound better you should harmonize trumpet with a second trumpet or a second and a trombone. To make it sound heavier. But if you do don't copy exactly like that the music, use the key notes to make it a second voice or make a harmonization.

Guitar is too distorted for me, but that it's personal's choices.

And what goes for the adjusting of volumes you have all the bass and bets too strong all the time. Look, the key to make it sound more great it's to not bore the listener. You have to play with volumes to magnify something a detail. If you are in a static line you loose part of the interest. Think that you can make little decreases of a part that it's rhythmical to make it hear other voices. In the case of that piece one example of a missing opportunity is in 0:55 when an instrument enters making a response to end that part of the theme that passes away practically missing. So even if you like that rhythm bases and guitar and you can think "hey it's cool" It's cool but there are times where the "cool" has to fade to reappear latter.

^__^

Someone on Deviantart said about the album:

-"Wow it sounds great  :-D :-D Would the other discs ever be made?"

I quoted Final Fantim, and he replied:

-"Mmm aww it would be awesome if he did."

People love your work, Final Fantim!

I was listening to the Opening Theme of Final Fantasy VI in my car yesterday, and boy! The way it sounded with the cars speakers, with the thunder clap and the organ, and the wind with the piano, and the bell ringing... it gave me goose bumps! It would be totally awesome if the rest was made! It's that awesome!

Im glad...
Normally, mastering is done with monitor speakers or studio monitors so it would sound great on any kind of system (since not everyone has the same setup/settings)
But im glad it sounds awesome

I just want to say that I absolutely love this. The remixes to Gold Saucer and Don of the Slums are easily my favorite because they show the most creativity with the instruments.

I'd really like to follow your future remasters (finish FFVI :PPP)

I can't speak for Kefka, but when I'm at university I prefer mediafire downloads because I share an IP with lots of people, and if one of them is downloading from megaupload then I have to wait before I can dl.

FFVII Soundtrack
Judgement Day. Are you the one who made that? If you are could you do it again but change the beginning? The drums are the wrong kind, and at 0:32 in the original song when the backround kicks in you should make that like uh.... what do you call it? Choral sh*t or something, like not instruments, but like a choral thingy. I would do these things myself but I have no idea how to get these instrument thingys on my comp without ruining it. BTW how do you get the remix stuff, is it on your comp or... what?

Could you maybe make a reply please, so that I can send him that ^-^

Here you go, that's the chanell of her. She is the official European Tifa Lockhart Cosplayer- she wrote me that she likes his R-OST. And I asked her sharing it with Nobuo Uematsu- if that's possible. She said, that she would, because she has contact with him- and I believed her ;) So, may the might be with us ;D
I don't think that she will lie, I searched for her and found out, that she really is the official "Real" Tifa- there's nothin' more to say. We can't do anything than hoping, can we? Well, I just hope it for him :] I really try to push FFTim xD" (Btw, thanks for more than 300 subscribers now xD" Gonna start a YouTube show, if we reach more than 1000 subscribers ;))
