This version doesnt work on Windows 9x (95, 98, Me) if someone wants to make a custom DLL loader for Windows 9x please contact me for more information. Also this only supports the english version + patch 1.2 of the game. And yes only the "Normal" patch this wont work with the "Geforce" patch.

YUP! found a bug, everytime i went to battle, it start not to respond then close FF8w itself.

You are using the normal patch? If you have the Geforce FF8w it's not compatible with your FF8.

i dont have nvidia, and without the window patch, it work fine

Mmmm.. There are two versions of the 1.2 patch one named Geforce and the other Normal, this is supposed to work with the Normal (Non-Geforce)

anyway, i my low level char is fighting T-Rex, then i turn on and off to aviod t-rex tail, but only on bite so i can get my char down to yellow-colored hp, then i turn on the CheatPlugin with #2 then somone it seem to ignore my command and killed one of my char, so thought i turn it off, then i press 2 again then it still ignoring my command and T-rex kill all my charater :(
seem it ignore the command while on yellow-colored hp
the reason why i want my char down to yellow-colored hp, so i can get the limit break faster.

You were right hotkeys were not working but the cheats are enabled by default which means that your are not using 1.2 Non-Geforce, I highly suggest you to download that patch from the link I posted above. Oh and download the file again the hotkeys issue was fixed.

hate to say this, the random battle still causing my ff8w to close with window patch. just wait anf let somone check with ff8w, if they report it having a same problem as me, then you can fix the problem
it seem it work fine with your computer but not mine with Window Patch enabled

yup that file, i am 100% sure, i redownload that file again and put it in my ff8 folder and still having problem with Window Patch
but honestly, i dont really need a window patch. im fine without it, i found a other way to "alt-tab" the ff8.

Ok, I dont really know why are you having issues with the window patch.. but at least you are enjoying the cheat plugin. :P Also can you post a screenshot of the crash?

Ok, I'll create a tool to check what's in the target offset in your computer. :-? But that will have to wait until tomorrow I am going to sleep now. :D
Also are the cheats working?

cheat is working fine but i havent test the yellow-colored hp yet, cuz im tired and need some sleep.. :roll: it 11:53 pm here

hey bulk, wondering do your FF8w imculded anti-aliasing?? cuz i noticed you have anti-aliasing on,so not sure that your graphic card or FF8w

Mine load fine, in FF8 and FF8w, they have no problem, did you use a game editor?

yes i did, and i just confirmed it was it.
it just so happend to happen on the same time i tried this.
sorry to put the blame on FF8w.
What happend was that i edited my save file and clicked "no" when it asked to verify the data by accident.
So it got screwed.
From now on i started to make backups hehe.
Luckly i already catched by all the way to disk 2.

i'm having the same problem - i'm pretty sure it has something to do with trying to display the battle swirl in 32-bit color, if ff7w is any indication. ff8 just happens to crash rather than skipping the effect.
the weird thing is, it worked for me the first couple times, but now it crashes no matter what. i have a radeon x600 mobility - is anybody else experiencing this problem using an ati card? i was never sure if i was meant to use the nvidia 1.02 patch or the normal one, given the somewhat extreme age of both patches.

holy hell, i fixed it.
nop out 0x0041a253. you'll get a pleasant image of your recycle bin morphing into a bite bug when you enter battle, and voila- no more crashes.

it's 1.02 non-geforce (and cracked..), but i didn't get that address from my version. my version kept spitting out an address that didn't exist in ff8.exe whenever it crashed, so i used the one posted above, and lo, it worked.

Well... I confused this thread with ff7w thread... I'm not really into ff8 since I don't own a copy of it anymore. Finding that offset was a good job though... I think :P

What's up! It's been a while since I posted here.. anyway here's a new build of FF8w, I recoded some parts of the Loader, and created a new FF8w plugin, so grab the new files.
Check the readme for the new hotkeys, new features on the cheat plugin are Save Anywhere (this time I really tested it), and an AP plugin. Some of you reported crashing when you enter battle hopefully that's fixed with this version. :-D

P.S: I dunno if someone may find this useful, while messing around with the code I accidentally ended up here (http://ruvalcaba.no-ip.com/save02.zip), it's kind of funny to float on water. :-P

Sorry for the bump, but my laptop has geforce and ff8w does work but I can't see anything.(yes, I read the first post) Is there any alternative way to play ff8 in windowed mode?
